Political Posts Being Locked?

Whats up with the Political Posts being locked? Could it be the moderators don't agree with the opinions and facts being brought to the table? No one has personally attacked anyone. Debate and information is a good thing. However locking these posts is only stopping people from learning and sharing opinions and facts. I thought thats what The Pub was created for? None Comanche related topics? I hope the guy who blew his thumb off isent a moderator if you are I apologize for calling you a stupid idiot for shooting your own thumb off.

The good news is I use CC to pass coded messages to my socialist brethren.

Which reminds me:

"I looked at my Dana 35 wrong today and it broke....."

Oh and I forget one from yesterday:

"How common is a rear main seal leak on a 4L?"

The pub is for general discussion, and we welcome good debates. When someone is just dropping links to things, and waiting for opinions as a form of trolling, or rousing, that's where we draw the line. Some members are getting tired of the "Soapbox" stand that the pub has been recently turning into. I would have to agree.

If you want to discuss a topic, please do. What we don't want is someone tossing in a link to such and such controversy and trolling. "Drive-by's" If you will.

Know what I mean Verne?

Rob, you are clearly referring to me as the 'drive-by'.........not so.

It is common as you put it to 'drop links' and add commentary. Dropping links is a way to support or dispute a position, principle, or topic, some stories require no commentary, they stand on their own.

I visit here as my truck has become my latest hobby as well as my DD and a common interest with this site. I make multiple visits here daily.

I have been a member of multiple guns sites and tractor sites over the years. I spend most of my net time at the AKfiles.com with more than 25K posts now registering 19K with thread deletions and site changes being the reason for post loss. I'm hardly a drive-by.

Apparently you intend to keep the Pub dry, fine I got the message. However the Pub is a drag........but that is the way it is.

You bet, I tested the waters here, my lack of commentary was more due to a wait-n-see what the response would be as apposed to being banned outright.

Oh I have a lot to say and I'm more than up to date on current events, and I do have an agenda, information is power.

Most forum sites I belong to (including -- and even especially -- "gun" sites) do not allow "drive by" posts at all. IMO they are nothing but a form of trolling. It's easy to throw up a link without saying anything about why you think anyone should read it or what your position is. That way, no matter what someone says about it you can always attack them for it because you haven't revealed your position.

Personally, I'm here to discuss Comanches. There are "gun" forums for people who wish to discuss guns, and there are political forums for those who wish to discuss politics.

Rob (quoting Eagle) was spot on. I'm happy to hear you feel the Pub is a drag, so now feel free to post your "current events" commentary and carry on your opinionated agenda in one of the many other forums you frequent. Perhaps these other forums won't be such a drag to you. Test the waters so to speak. :rotf:

However, you do post mildly interesting info in the Tech section every now and then. Feel free and welcome to participate.

Yeah, well we all have our opinions and POV don't we? I have thick skin and I hold my own and stick to my point and others have the same opportunity.

Yeah, I will continue to do so elsewhere.

Monolithic, that is the drag.

This is my last post in the Pub.

guilty. :( my apologies. strange times here and there these days. - although i have kind of enjoyed the pub lately, as long as it stayed respectful. and the sharing of information is always kind of neat. and the truth -be -told, - ive kinda used it to gauge the general opinions of the "average joe". but i have to seriously apologize, as i knew i was treading dangerously close to "trolling" myself.

i enjoy and value this forum too much to play games though, so will be much more careful in the future. having said that -- i do find it very refreshing to be some of the more "lefty" (for lack of a better word) opinions as i also value those and the intelligent conversations that they can bring.

all I am is a peacemaker trying to find a balance. the topics aren't banned, but getting controversial topic after controversial topic is just too much angst for the atmosphere that most members have come to expect. compare it to hanging with the guys at the bar or in the garage. the occasional heated debate is fine, but a barrage of them just sucks the fun outta the room.

I guess I missed the really juicy stuff, lol.

Some of what I saw was interesting & compelling,

some of it rehashed bs, some of it I didn't bother to read.

None of it offended me.

It's lousy how divided our country is,

but at the same time, amazing that you can see two people can look at the exact same information, and draw two completely different conclusions/opinions on it.

We all filter out what we don't want to hear, and seek out the type of information that validates our beliefs.

I guess that's where it starts.
