Blue88Comanche
my Uncle noticed a guy trying hide in the bushes, looking across the street at my house. He told my grandmother who lives just the two doors down she then called the sheriff to do a drive by. She also called my room mate and me, we both left work and got home just as the sheriff arrived. They said they might know who it was but because my uncle did not have a description there wasn't much they could do. guess i will be locking the dead bolt for sure when i leave the house. Blue88Comanche
if they can hear the safety click on my 870 then i would be impressed. I have a nice little collection of firearms to greet any intruder with but that is only useful if i am there. this weekend i am taking the room mate out to the range so he knows how to work the guns... apparently while he worked for the Sheriff's office he did not play with guns much. he couldn't figure out the slide release on the 10/22 :shake: I removed the bolts on the other guns and have them hidden for now. my WK has a storage compartment that might be big enough to fit the 870 this way at least it wouldn't be stolen while i am at work. AMCJeepMJ
Even fake cameras or a used ADT sign found on ebay are enough to deter most would-be robbers who are looking for quick and dirty break-in. If they're the serious home invasion type then even a good sized dog won't do much good since they will a way to work around or eliminate its threat to them. Blue88Comanche
We have the ADT sign. and I was thinking about picking up some fake cameras to put outside. Tigerdirect.com had a cheap DVR with 2 cameras that i was thinking about getting and setting up looking ant the doors, later on i can add more cameras as needed. my room mate looked up ADT price it was about 40 a month with a 350 dollar installation fee... but it did have a $250 mail in rebate. I forgot to pull some stuff of the MJ so it can't be started if broken into.
SW86
just talk to all your neighbors. let them all know and to be on the look out for anyone suspicious. neighbors watching out for neighbors is a good defense
Blue88Comanche
pretty much all my neighbors are family, my uncle lives on the south side, west is Mr. Ken (he was Police Officer) on the seat side is my uncle's rental house, and the next two houses east are my grandmother and aunt. my family pretty much owns all the 20 acre block :D

Comanche County
The vast majority of burglaries (residential break-ins) occur M-F 9-5. Just thought I'd throw that out there. My good buddy in GA recently got his house broke into right after he left for work. They took everything electronic. Two laptops including his 5K Alienware machine and his large flat screen. They came in the unlocked back door, he discovered the theft when he came home for lunch. He now has a nice security system.
