My XJ is dead

Yesterday we were moving some of my cars from Boring to Kalama,i was driving one and the wife was towing the other on a dolly behind the Jeep.

she lost control of the Jeep and rolled it on I-5 between Woodland and

La center, she was trapped and the fire dept had to pull her from the jeep but she came out very well considering what had happened, they took her to the hospital and she was released a few hours later.

the jeep, car ,and dolly were all impounded. i was able to get the XJ and dolly back but the car was a parts car and i had no title so they won't release it.

It sucks but I'm just glad my wife is ok.

here's some pics.

I'm very happy she is ok,XJs are easy to replace. I'm also very glad my son wasn't in the jeep,he was going with us then decided to hang out with my brother instead.

We are not sure what exactly happened, she went to change lanes and she said the tow dolly whipped real hard and she couldn't get it back under control. She ended up upside down aiming the wrong way.

After this I have decided the next one is getting a cage,an XJs roof is about as stout as a soda can

She was towing an 84 Ford EXP turbo coupe on a tow dolly.

That is just crazy! I can't imagine how hard the roll was to crush the roof like that. I am astounded that she only has minor injuries. I am wondering how the driver side 1/4 glass did not shatter?

She is going to be sore as hell tomorrow. You got a few long days of taking care of her every wish now. Wish her a speedy recovery from me!

I don't understand the 1/4 glass either,we actually pulled it out without breaking it. I figure it can be garage art till I need it.

She is very sore but she is up and getting around ok,we found out today the hospital bill is $13,000.

Glad to hear she's ok. I couldn't imagine watching the wreck from the seat of another car, knowing your loved one is in danger, and there wasn't anything you could do about it.

By the look of the Rescue 42, it seems like the local FD had their stuff together and did a good job.

You ain't kidding about the tin-can roof though... On the lighter side, you now have a nice donor for a derelict MJ.

Yes the fire dept got there and got her out fast. It was a terrible thing to watch, she was upside down trapped and all I could do is hold her hand and talk to her.

I thought about an MJ but wife already wants another XJ so I will probably get an XJ and transfer everything over.

This does leave me with a complete 4.0l swap if I decide to convert the MJ,I have an AX15 I was gonna adapt to the 2.5l but I might just bolt it to the XJs 4.0l

They are hard to find, turbo cars are even harder to find.

I have two others and the impounded one was basically a parts car, I was gonna try to straighten out the paper work to get it but it takes time and with a $45 a day impound storage fee I don't have time, especially after forking out $400 to get the XJ and tow dolly back.

My best bet is go to the auction and try to buy it back.

Got home today and decided to do some body work, and now its good as new.

I pulled the plugs and and cleaned them then pumped the oil from the cylinders and I got it started. Seems to run good,I took it for a short drive to clear all the oil out and it seems to drive fine so the drive train is good.

Well after you strip it for the next XJ you could always start with a frame up build :dunno: just a thought... Or you could strip it for any thing you could ever use and haul it off to the scrap yard

I was able to save the EXP,today I managed to track down the registered owner. He was a little upset that it was still in his name since he got rid of the car 10 years ago.

He cleared everything up with the impound yard and I just got home with it.

This ordeal with the tow yard ended up costing me about $650
