I smell a scam. plastics and gasoline are from a very, very different parts of the molecular soup we call oil. heat alone won't convert one to the other.

Agreed. It's like Mr. Fusion on the back of the DeLorean when Doc Brown comes back from the future. The guy just stuffs any kind of plastic in there, hits the switch and voila! you've got useable oil from the tap. I don't think so.

If everything on YouTube was true, the cure for RROD would be wrapping the 360 in a towel and a couple of pillows.

don't know about the wrapping it and baking it but RROD isnt that hard to fix. I watched a few you tube videos then came up with my own RROD fix.

back to the subject lol plastic is made from petroleum, but i doubt it could ever be converted to oil. however if we stopped making so much plastic and using the original petroleum to make oil instead that would be grand ;) oh, and interestingly you can take plastic and light it and watch the sparks fly. it is quite pretty actually :rotf:

Actually there are several companys out there that reclaim a petroleum product from plastics. I used to work for one. The technology needs to be perfected for it to be profitable, but as far as reclaiming oil from plastic using only heat, yes that's a fact.

Yup, this isn't anything new.

Pressure and heat - likes what happens beneath the surface of the earth.

Plastics, yup, you can break em down and form new polymer chains if you want, or you can crack em back down and reform new things, still lots of energy in all those chains!

A couple of places also do similar things with animal waste, took all the leftover stuff from the tyson chicken plant, put it in what is akin to a large pressure cooker, and break down all the bones, feathers, beaks, etc into a light oil, and a sludge that was dried for animal feed.

Now, don't expect it to be like Mr. Fusion, more like Mr. Huge Smelly Refinery that is a cross between a petroleum refinery and a rendering plant.
