I am in talks with a supplier in the Changzhou area in China to ship me over some 2500 parts. Without know EXACTLY what I need, the price was $420 for parts. He has not compiled a shipping cost yet. Is their any interest in getting 2500 parts over here? I think they make our MJs look awesome. Plus it's a head turner. He mentioned something about a group discount if I can get more people interested. This supplier also has ALOT of stuff for older XJs as well. Some things I haven't seen here before, like crystal clear side front marker lamps.

2500 parts:

Headlamps: $100/pr, Fog Lamps: $30/pr, Front Bumper: $15, Grille: $15, Header Panel: $50, Front Flare: $50/pr, Front Corner guards: $10/pr, Signage (Says 2500, and I am doing "Comanche 2500"): $25, Fenders: $25 each

The conversion would be sweet and the parts look cool, and the price is great, but it seems a bit too good to be true. I really like the setup and if the price is accurate, I would be all over it, but I will let someone else take the plunge first :D

If it fits like the rest of the China crap parts I would not touch it! Actually I would not touch it even if it does fit right due to being from china.

Do they sell parts for 97+ XJ as we know them as well? I'm looking all over scandinavia for a clean parts-truck to do the conversion, but if I can get new chinese parts cheaper its a no-brainer for me.

I worked for a place that delt with CRAP from China, and that looks exactly like the kind of stuff that will not fit right and will prolly show up broken in the box.

The price is accurate. Others including myself have taken the plunge already with a different supplier for the parts.

Wasn't there a group buy here that went badly?

thats what i was gonna ask, i think right before i joined here i remember reading about it. i'd be weary of dealing internationally, and the thread that keeps popping up here from a seller looks hokey if you ask me. it looks like those stupid spam posts, just for a change its something that people feel is relevant here.

Well I am willing to be the guinea pig here to see how easy this guy is. Still waiting on an answer about shipping but its been the weekend.

Yes, I have been fighting to get some info from the guy in the classifieds, and locked his threads until we get more info. I want some more details, like shipping, where he is, where the parts are, etc... He did repost the thread with prices, but, as Dave said, seems a little fishy. Until he gives out more info, I will keep locking him down, or boot his account.

Besides the fact it doesn't look all that great... keep chinese manufactured stuff in China. The MJ was truck designed in the 80's.. its supposed to look like one.

There was a group buy that went bad, but not do to the supplier. I belive the guy collecting everyones cash skipped with it.

does anyone think its hokey that Rob has had to delete two of the threads, and the poster is not responding to requests for more info, I guess any more beyond that is a fool and his money territory, I'll stop here.

Surprisingly, he is resolving the issue with me as we speak... I have the company supplier address, the website, and all sorts of info. I will keep you guys posted...

He is based out of China, but says that his company supplies Omix Ada, and Crown automotive...

This is what I told him:

"Sorry, I know somethings get lost in translation. Here is the story. Awhile back, we had a member who was in contact with some one who had a shipment of 2500 parts direct from china. He collected everyone's money to do a "group buy" and then disappeared. We are talking about thousands of dollars.

Please excuse me if I come across as harsh, I am just trying to protect the members from this happening again. If you look at it from my point of view, here is a member that has never posted here before, offering up the parts. No history with the group, no prices (at first), and no story besides the parts list and the price.

What I would like to see from you, is maybe a little background about you and your company. Maybe a company website, or more of your details about working with omix ada? I just want re-assurance that there is a face and a company that cares about putting the time fourth to deal with the members, and make sure the sale goes well, and follows through. Let me know who you are, and some story here. Thank you.

I hope you understand."

I will keep you guys updated on what I find.

I think anyone who wants the 2500 parts from china should ask Sir Sam where he got his. I wouldn't buy anything from china unless I knew it has worked for someone else. I have spent way too much time talking and dealing with companies from china to know that the odds are against you for getting anything close to what you want. My .02

What do you guys think? I can steer him to this thread, and maybe he can answer any questions.

well i aint looking to do any cash taking. I am thinking if we all buy at the same time we can get the discount he (my supplier) was talking about and then he combines shipping say from 15 places to 2-3 regions, and we just drive a couple hours to get.
