64 Cheyenne
I was given this 86 for free. I'm not sure what I'll do with it, as it has a 4cyl and I'm not very fond of long beds, somebody started on fixing the clutch and this is as far as they got, that was over two years ago. Looks like the truck was very close to a fire, warped the bed a little. I'm thinking this truck has seen it's last trail, although it will live on in the usefulness in the parts that I will get off it for my other two MJs. Parts salvaged:both taillights, tailgate, F/R 4:10 axles, black interior, B pillar lights, front skid, TC skid, tilt column, matching key sets, seat brackets, slider back window This truck has 4:10s which in itself makes a real strong argument to part it out. I'm not sure, but I think it has a D35 which is the only bummer, oh well ............ Image Not Found
aemsee
Well, I see some good stuff there. Tilt, front skid, black interior trim. three spoke black wheel, hockey stick arm rests, etc, etc. Not a bad freebie at all.
runner6
Interested in selling the rear sliding glass? I would pay for shipping to NC. Thanks.
Darren
You paid too much for that.
Automan2164
That bed is very save-able... Sure on the 4.10's? Was it a 4 or 5 speed? Rob L.
Tri_X_Troll
Well, if you part it out I might be interested in the chrome grille
64 Cheyenne
Actually the whole truck is savable, with enough time money and effort. As far as the bed goes, I don't Know....... When you look down the side from the back of the truck, looking towards the fuel filler door, you can see where the fire warped the panels some. You can also see the heat damage on the cab corner. I'm thinking AX-5, 207 TC, Data tag on the D30 says 4 10 .
Jakeman17
Very nice I like the rear window if selling
64 Cheyenne
Things are kind of up in the air as to what I'm going to do with this truck. If I part it, I'll probably keep this back window, although I do have another slider back window that I'd probably sell at that time.

pilotblake
Sandblast it, primer it up and let it sit. It already seems to have alot of good parts. If you have the time, do the free or cheap stuff. Get the body cleaned up and in primer, or work on the floors or little things like that to preserve it alittle better then the factory did. Don't part it out just yet.

Remember, they aren't making MJs any more. Once you part it out ... it's gone forever. That's a factory front skid plate under there. What other skids does it have? Is there a steel skid under the gas tank?
Automan2164
I also, vote save... Seems like it would be cake to complete, and make a runner out of. And if you don't want it, use the money made by selling it to finance some new stuff for your MJ. Rob L.
64 Cheyenne
Today was an MJ day, so I've made a total change of plans concerning this MJ. I got it for free......so I gave it to my friend for free, as long as he is going to resurrect it. Actually not totally free, I told him I want the front skid, and a set of Jeep wheels for "Megan Joy",done deal. Like I said this was an MJ day, We inquired about another 4cyl long bed (same condition or worse than this 86) no answer on that one. Then on the way home, I know where there are a couple more junked MJs, we stopped and scored again! My friend bought a bed for this 86, and a 2wd 4cyl 5spd short bed, for a hundred bucks (not sure about a title yet on this one.) Me, I got the remains of another wrecked MJ with black interior, sliding glass, rear flares, both taillights, $50 BUCKS! Best thing of all..........I didn't part a rebuildable truck, I gave a truck away for free, bought two more people into the fold, now my friend and his son both have MJs, although they have numerous XJs they were pretty much unaware of MJs till they seen the two I have, then they wanted MJs of their own. My friends aren't too internet savvy, they agreed I could post a few pics of their builds in the pub if I wanted. So from time to time I'll do this as their Father and Son builds. 64 Cheyenne
Only bad thing about this whole deal, between my 2 friends and I, we bought three MJs in two days.($75 total) I totally stripped a wrecked a fourth ($40), Probably not a single MJ left on the rez worth chasing. I'm kind of sad, cut my own throat, gave up all my MJ "stash", oh well, counting mine we'll have four of them running around within a twenty mile radius.  :clapping:
