glundblad
Here is a picture of my '87 comanche. I am the first and third owner of it. It spent all last summer in the body shop while we were looking for elusive comanche parts. They are going fast in northern Indiana. But I was very happy with how it turned out. If you want to see how it looked, there is a link on my signature. Here is how the inside looked. It is in pretty good shape but it had that big, way too soft, uncomfortable bench seat with no head rest. I hated it the day we bought the truck. It felt like it had broken down. I have looked at every junkyard in the surrounding area. About 10 or so different ones and I never found any black buckets. So, awhile back, I saw that mfpdm (aka Paul) was selling a lot of parts so I pm'd him. He said he didnt have any but he knew where some were at. So Paul pulled them for me and had them shipped to me. Kudos to Paul. Pretty cool considering we don't even know one another. Here is the interior and how it looks now. Even my wife approves. When I got them, Paul suggested I remove the seat covers from the seats and run them through the laundry. They were in such good shape that I was afraid to do that. I was sure Paul was out of his mind so I thought I would give it a try and sure enough, he was right. They came out of the wash looking great. He suggested I not use any fabric softener because the smell would linger for quite awhile. That was good thnking. I would go further and say don't use any deterent with a scent. It stays and will not go away. Also, these seats will not tilt forward (4 door Cherokee). There was a 2 door cherokee at a local junkyard that had the same style seat as these except they are maroon plad. I bought those thinking maybe someday, I would swap the seat covers. I doubt I will but just in case. This is not my daily driver so getting back behind the seat is low priority to me. Swapping the seat covers is a little risky anyway because the tilt seats would require a slit to be cut in the sides to accomdate the tilt lever. I am sure I would mess that up. It sits so much better with these buckets. Thanks again Paul!
knever3
I love the new seats!! If anyone else knows where I can find these let me know because I have the same black interior and would love buckets! Great job on the truck, no matter what you paid it was worth it.
JeepcoMJ
ya know, I don't know if I'll be using this in my 86...but I have a NICE black full center console that came out of a cherokee, but has a factory MJ center insert. It'll be a month or so until I decide on the 97+ conversion...trading some stuff for 97 parts soon. -Pat

mfpdm
Holy crap I thought I was in trouble. :fool: They look great and your very welcome. I'm always glad to help a fellow member out. I've got the same set in the 86 and with the mini console, getting behind the seat is really no big deal. I still owe you a little something so the next set of black female end seat belts I find, I'll send them your way, so you can get rid of those floppy bench ones. This inspires me to finish the black interior swap on the Mild build.
88XJSport
Wow Gary, didnt know you had pics of the new seats. Those things look to be in PERFECT shape! I may have to throw my seat covers in the washing machine too. They look brand new!
dakineJ
Your truck look's amazing, good job. What color is that? I can't remember so I'll ask, what makes up the Chief package? I have a red 87' Sport truck w/black interior so this is some inspiration.

Chief wasnt really too special looking back. Keep in mind it was 1987 so you are REALLY testing my memory: It had the decals which was the real reason I bought it. It had more gauges than the other models. No tach though but oil pressure, temp and so on. The panels were trimed nicely (larger armrests or something). Plus the lower halfs were carpet. The dash bezel was chromed. It has a d44 axle but that was an option that had nothing to do with the chief package. The REAL cool chiefs were the cherokees of the '70's. They had indian blanket trimed seats and door panels. Paul just came through on a black center console for me. I won't put it in until winter. :clapping: JeepinSolder (Aka Alex) is sending me an old style tach so I can use my original gauge cluster. :clapping:

Also, spend some extra money for detergent that is completely oderless. The poor old comanche still smells like Tide.
