A couple of summers ago my father, brother and I tore apart my dad's 95 YJ Wrangler that had a 4 cyl and a 5 speed. Here is what it looked like once the rust got cut out and test fitting the engine: Here it is with the frame, body, and firewall painted. The interior got a spray-in raptor bedliner. It was on 235s. Then we put the front fenders, grille, and rock-sliders on. It has the original steel body and the frame has been patched. Then we put the windshield and flares on. This is it all together with the 235s on it. We ended up needing to build a traction bar and putting in a slip yoke eliminator because, with the stock springs, the axle-wrap was terrible, so it broke 2 driveshafts and 2 stransfercases. In the garage is our 1959 Chevy wagon-nothing special, 350 and a 700r4. Then the 35s went on. You can see the tote lid under it catching fluid from the broken T-case. We then took it out and flexed it on our culvert some: (It whips good pavement donuts, don't ask) Here is a pic of the first ride it went on. It is the Jeep in the front. The other YJ is actually a CJ-5 with a custom front end. Last summer my dad worked on a YJ with a 4.2 and a 5-speed and 27,000 original miles. Here are some more recent shots of it in action. Looking for a little bit of direction here. I'm in the middle of my ls swap and my next hurdle is shifter linkage. I'm aware of floor shifters, and I'm not against that, but then I would be changing out steering columns to delete the shifter handle. I'm interested if anyone here has come up with any solutions for making the stock column shifter work- part numbers of longer shifter cable (or make model of donor), I could do a lot with pictures of your cable and routing. looking for some direction mainly. Thanks

I need taillights... just kidding. I have decided I might LS swap my MJ because it knocks, misses, has an erratic idle, and leaks oil. I have an 89 automatic base model i6. She is pretty much stock as of now, I'm looking for ideas or suggestions in transitioning to a V8. This is my first project I have ever worked on so needless to say I'm a little green on the subject. I would say my end goal would be a pretty mean off road machine. Thanks for the help! I'm open to any and all suggestions!

Alright... call me a sissy... but I have a new Comanche and it doesn't have A/C. I hunt in Alabama, and the humidity and mosquitos get thick real quick at the beginning of hunting season. I have taken a look at the Novak sight and almost vomited on my keyboard when i saw the price of their a/c kits. Is there anywhere else that sells them cheaper?

Hey everyone, I finally decided to create a profile. I've been checking out the MJOTM every now and then but I just decided to create a build thread of my own. I've done a lot of work to my jeep and still have a lot to do. I figure I'll start off with a little backstory, then go through my build from the beginning. I plan on picking at this and updating the thread when I have free time. I'll post whatever pictures I have but unfortunately I didn't take very many. I never think about taking pictures until I'm done something . Anyway I have some long stories. Here's the backstory: It's a Pioneer, 4x4, 4.0L, long bed. I've known this Jeep my whole life as it used to belong to my uncle. My uncle's father (married in uncle) bought it brand new in '87. Now this guy did not baby this truck! It's been rolled over on 2 or 3 occasions and it was used to pull a 5th wheel trailer! My uncle inherited it before I was born (I'm 22 btw) and drove it daily. Luckily my uncle took better care of it and even had it repainted. And it was still in excellent shape. Now when I started driving I started bothering him to sell it to me because I always liked the look of it. I'm not a big fan of trucks, or Jeeps, but Comanche's are different, you just don't see them every day. Here she is the first day I owned it. At ~230xxx km and 95% rust free, 100% stock. This was April 2016. You can skip this paragraph. I got it in the mind of my uncle that I wanted it and he liked the idea of keeping it in the family, he offered it to me for $2500 but then gave it to my cousin's fiance free because she needed a vehicle. This c*nt beat the hell out of it, kept it dirty, and neglected it, I was not pleased. I bugged her every time I saw her that I wanted it. Well, after 3 years she decided to get a newer vehicle. So I offered her $500 for it! She accepted the offer! Glad she didn't know the value! The first thing I did was put on some 31" tires I found for $100. Not long after I had to stash the Comanche away. You see, I was living with my parents, I already owned 2 cars and they were not happy when I brought this home. We have limited parking space so I had to put it away for a few months. Stay tuned as the built really takes off from here.

Starting my big project, 86' Jeep Comanche Custom 2.8L gm v6. I have already acquired the majority of the parts, I am currently rebuilding components and still putting my money together for my baby. So far, I have a SBC 350, sm465, and np231 to set for my drive line. I will be posting pictures through out the entire build I just have a couple to post now but expect a lot of photos.
