  1. How are you planning on doing that? You either need to build your own fluid replacer or take it in. Dropping the pan only gets about 1/3 of the fluid.
  2. What does the fluid look like - pink or semi burned? If you were loading it up sometimes the fluid will start puking out the breather or around the TC seal, especially if you are having to give it so much gas to maintain speed that the TC is not locking up at highway speeds.
  3. It is? I didn't change the crossmember when I swapped from AX15 to AW4 in my kids truck. All the bolt holes were in the right places.
  4. I don't know if I'd do the whole truck. We Herculined the bottom 1/3 of my kids truck. Looks pretty decent and it was an easy way to cover up the corner replacements without doing a ton of body work. Still need to do the fenders once I get the new/non cutup ones painted
  5. Had a new 4 piece put into the kids truck after someone smashed it. $400
  6. I use a metric adjustable wrench ;)
  7. It's a full time case, if you buy a part time kit for it, it's pretty decent. Unlike a 205, it is a chain drive case - but a beefy one.
  8. TH350 and an NP203. NP205 has a 3rd small cover on the back where the idler shaft comes out.
  9. Stock setup is a steel sleeve in the crank with a roller bearing inside of that. 2 different pieces. As far as the bushing - tapered side in to the crank for 2 reasons. 1 - the crank doesn't have a square shouldered hole in it. 2) It makes it easier to revove - gives the grease a place to go and press when you pound in a dowel to force it out.
  10. Most 87 MJ with auto would have had a 904 in it, not an AW4. I've got an AW4 in my YJ behind a 2.5L, doesn't really suck that much power. Be aware that the 2.5L used a different TCU also, the shift points are higher. Using a 4.0L TCU with a 2.5L would really make it dog as the engine would never get up into it's power band. I've still got an extra 2.5L TCU if you wind up needing one. My aw4 is full manual so I don't run a tcu.
  11. It's staying on, but they are still available new http://www.suvxccessory.com/luns-19030.html
  12. And as done as it's going to get today. We got a set of uncut front fenders and flares from the u-pull which will be done as time allows, and he's talking about doing some art work on the bed sides.
  13. On to the other side which has just a little rust through on the cab corner.
  14. Looking better - if you stand a few feet away ;) The paint on the bed will almost certainly start rusting off again soon.
  15. Need to get some spot putty to cover up my lack of skill with the bondo, looks good in a picture or from 5 feet away ;)
  16. I did this conversion on my sons 90 - which had an ax15. - You have to replace the throttle body. The one they used with the manual does not have the place to hook up the TV cable --The complete tranny wiring harness. There are wires to a second output on the auto TPS, and to the brake pedal. Make sure you get the harness from a Renix era Jeep, the TCU connectors are different in the 91+.
  17. Time for some rust repair on the kids truck. Not trying to do anything fancy, but I don't want it to rot out either. Once the rust holes are patched, the bottom 6" of the panels will be herculined.
  18. Finally got around to finishing it and we mounted it today. Still need to get some wheel straps from Yakima, but the bikes are pretty stable just sitting there.
  19. Bike rack for the comanche that Andrew and I have been building. Still need to pick up some more bar for the other 3 wheel traps. There will be one strap per wheel to keep it from bouncing out. It bolts to the top of the bed rails behind the storage box and holds 4 bikes.
  20. Probabally pushing out past the Torque Convertor seal when it gets really hot. If you're going ot plow with it, better add a nice big auxillary cooler.
  21. If you had to swap in a front axle, why in the world did you swap in a disconnect front?
  22. It'll be fine. When I swapped my kids 90 from manual to auto it required no computer changes.
  23. The rubicon rims have less backspacing that normal xj/mj rims. There will be no rbbing on the control arms. My sons mj has a set, but with a 3" lift. Stock height would be pretty tight, those are near 32" tires. The front fenders on this truck are cut quite a bit to fit the modified TJ flares
  24. If you are putting a mat over it , it should be fine. But if you are expecting to walk on it or have it resist scuffs you will be disappointed. That particular stuff is made to hit corners and places where it's hard to get into with a roller or brush with the good bedliner. I used it in my old CJ tub and it just didn't hold up. Herculiner is a much better product for anything that needs to hold up to abraision.
  25. Weird. I used the same crossmember when I swapped the AX15 out and the AW4 in. I did use the complete trans mount that came with the AW4. Also used the same set of holes on the "frame". As far as the tcase linkage goes, that is different from manual to automatic. You need the complete linkage from an automatic xj/MJ. You need to change the bracket on the tunnel to one from an AW4 equipped XJ/MJ. It moves the linkage forward a bit so that it lines up with the bracket on the aw4.
