Why not just make your own? Bending brake lines is pretty simple. I've built custom set-ups for some of my sports cars, and it takes minimal time and few special tools. Using Aeroquips at the corners also helps.

Had my first death wobble this morning
summerinmaine replied to summerinmaine's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That's my thinking exactly. The wobble started, I recognized it immediately as no big deal, began to slow, and then it stopped. That's why I'm pretty relaxed about the whole experience, and other than checking some of the routine stuff, I'm not inclined to start throwing dollars at the problem. -
Had my first death wobble this morning
summerinmaine replied to summerinmaine's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I know what full blown DW feels like, and that's why I'm not too concerned about this isolated incident. But I certainly don't want it to become a habit. Additional info: I bought the MJ about 1500 miles ago with a lot of miles on it, but a recent (unknown source) 3" lift. It has Skyjackers, an adjustable track bar, new ball joints and uprated LCAs. I'm beginning to suspect that there are some alignment/adjustment issues, however, and I'm inclined to have the front tires spin balanced, just on general principles. -
I was on the slab on my normal route this morning, doing about 60mph (and slowing a bit for some traffic ahead) and I hit a small bump. Death wobble started, but was pretty benign, and ceased after I got it down to about 35mph or so. I know a number of things can contribute, but since this was a classic induction sequence, should I start going through the checklist, or just assume that this was a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong speed?

Found this on BestOf Craigslist- Dear Honda Owners

I remember back in the old days, when I had my old beater Nissan Patrol 4x4, I'd always say I was glad to race, as long as I got to pick the course. -
Thanks Pete, for taking all the time and effort to protect the site.

I had a similar problem with an old 4wd I had years ago. It would just stop, then start again if left to set for a while. Turned out it was an internal fault in the coil, and when it heated up it would open a circuit. New coil = no problem.

Don't worry about it. It's just a sign that the MJ has better taste in food than you do. :brows:

Brake Booster/MC Swap
summerinmaine replied to summerinmaine's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yep, the spacer plate is part of the package I bought (it wasn't shown on the pic of the booster), so it looks like re-positioning the washer bottle is my only other unknown issue (I've already looked at the prop valve/brake light threads so I'm covered there). Thanks for the help. -
Anyone Know what this may have been for??
summerinmaine replied to Pfrenet's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There's a NOS LWB MJ roll bar currently on fleaBay under item No. 330143357935. No personal interest, but thought someone might. Lol! Didn't even make that connection! :dunce: -
Interest in Rock Rails
summerinmaine replied to Drahcir495's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'd be interested in either/both. I know we're a small market, but if enough of us get together and agree on a package, we should be able to interest someone to do it economically. -
Brake Booster/MC Swap
summerinmaine replied to summerinmaine's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm pretty sure that's included, but I'm checking now. Thanks. I hope I can move it forward an inch, but there's a vacuum hose that appears to interfere. Maybe I can just re-route it. -

My booster on the 87 MJ appears to have taken a dump (diaphragm leak), so I picked up a 2D booster/MC/prop valve/pedal assembly from a 1996 XJ. I figured it would be easier to swap everything than worry about matching/modifying the new rod to fit the old pedal. I imagine I'll have a bit of clearance problem between the new booster and the stock MJ washer bottle position (looks pretty tight with the added length), but I'm willing to pull the bottle and try to find a smaller replacement. Any other problems I should anticipate in making the swap? Any spacers needed? Thanks for any advise.

Question: Best Tow Hook mounting options?
summerinmaine replied to jpfrogger's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Do you have a sign-up for folks interested in a new rear bumper? Any link to threads with info on the project? Thanks. -
Haven't really figured out the whole spam thing yet, have ya? :brows:

Yes, it's a good system. Don't know how it compares to RS, but I paid @ $30 on eBay. Figure that I can learn a fair amount, then pick the rest up just by talking to people.

I'm teaching myself Spanish right now. I go down to Baja a lot, and think that it's only common courtesy to know some of the language. I looked into RS, but it was muy pricey. I got Instant Immesion Spanish Platinum off of eBay, for about 15% of the RS price, and it's working for me. 750 hourse of interactive CD-ROM and 8 vocab CDs.

It'll buff right out! :brows: -
My MJ had a set of these when I got it. The fit and quality appears great, and the lift is perfect. YMMV

Had that happen on another vehicle. Sprayed the crap out of it with WD-40, and never had the problem again. -
