  1. Glad to have helped but now I see I was talking about the wrong spring. You wanted the one on the bottom. That one on the top engages the little rachet thingy to engage the lock for the pedal as you push it down. A guess a picture is indeed worth a thousand words.
  2. I've never come across anything on the gas tanks in that location. Sounds like someone was trying to fix a leak maybe and slapped that stuff on there. :dunno:
  3. You'll find pros and cons on both sides about swapping the closed to open systems. Here is a pic of an 89 that had been swapped to an open system. The overflow is in the stock location of the later open systems and is the bottle that came with them. Kind of crazy seeing how the main power center is right there. I'll be changing this and going with a smaller bottle relocated in the bay. Haven't figured it out exactly yet and was thinking of putting one in the passenger side fender like I put the washer bottle in the drivers side fender. Just have to find the right donor for this mod.
  4. That's one clean engine bay you got there. Since I saw your engine pic's in the tech section, I figure I'd ask you here in your build, what paint did you use on the intake? I'm currently dressing out the engine in my build and was debating on painting it. I was just going to use the same engine enamal I did the block with as it's good to 500 degrees.
  5. This is not the greatest pic but it hooks on the very top little lever and the other end hooks to the piece right in front of it.
  6. That's the best conversion I've seen yet. Very clean. What ever happen to all those on here that were getting the 2500 parts and planning on this? Or is that still a sore subject that can't be mentioned in public.
  7. The b-pillar mounts are actually for 4x6's. Hard to find good ones that size. I'm looking at the Infinity reference series 4x6's to go in mine. They sound so good for such a small speaker. Will match them up with the 5 1/4s for the doors and maybe the 3's for the dash knee board. These are very clear crisp sounding speakers and will be just fine with the factory stereo and will fit the stock locations without butchering the trim.
  8. You can always use the one I did for the 86. Same principles, you just don't have to mod the header like I had to. Here's the link viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11270
  9. See I told you I might be wrong. From the pic it was hard to see if it had an actual slot. No slot = MJ original. Far as the seats, I guess the matching door panel thing is just with XJ's :dunno:
  10. I might be wrong, but it looks like that console and seats may have been put in and not what came with it. Why I say that is usually, the door panels would have the same material (twead) on them as the seats and the console looks like it has the slot for the e-brake which the MJ consoles did not have. Either way, it was a great find.
  11. Now I just have to find the one for the other 95%. :D

    The Griffon....

I'm just the opposite, I don't like Alpinegeist because of the corkscrews. :ack: I'm not scared of it and don't barf, but I do not feel great after that one. Apollo's Chariot is my favorite. Only way to ride it is in the front row to get the full experience. My son and I trick my wife in riding it. I thought we killed her. She won't step foot on it again however see loves Alpinegeist  I got to ride the Griffon once last year. It's very smooth and it goes so fast that you really can't tell what it's doing. After the hour and a half wait, I felt cheated. And if corkscrews are your thing, try this one. and it's twin.
  13. What's left of your bed is a perfect candidate for the parts needed for a Cheromanche.

  17. Nice. Kind of looks as you go through the pics that the XJ just disentigrates into the driveway. :D
  18. Well I got another one. This makes #4 counting the last one that I scrapped. It's a 87 2.5 2wd 5 spd with a bad motor. Rust free body but has the standard option of floor pan holes. Couple of dents but nothing bad. Interior is fair. Right now it's future is up in the air. I'm going to pull a few parts for the Wild build, a few more for the Mild build, some more to sell, and with whats left :dunno: Not planning on scrapping it but only time will tell. I've got a spare motor or two in the garage so we'll see. Will take delivery sometime next week and will get some better pic's.
  19. I was having trouble as well. Would click on the download and all it did was blick the screen. I figured I needed to load the framework.net and of coarse as soon as I did, it had to update. :shake: Along with IE 8. After 20 mins of all that crap, it still didn't download. So I went here and got it. http://download.cnet.com/CraigsList-Rea ... 09387.html And once again, soon as I started that up, it had to update. :shake: I'm waiting for it to finish my search right now.
  20. Like this one? I think maybe he was asking without the screen attached to the cowl like this :dunno: Think this is the best one I have of that. Thanks for all the comments.
  21. Well, as a matter of fact, Blue OX makes a tow bracket for the MJ/XJ. :D Far as using another bumper, I'm sure you could get one that ties into the frame and you could use your system with it. A lot of after market ones out there with D ring mounts. I'm sure you could find or mod an adaptor for the mount. The Blue OX tow bar should be adjustable for witdh. PM sent.
  22. Edited the write up to add the wiring for the 97+ mirrors.
  23. There is a breaker for the wipers on the fuse block under the dash. 5.5 if I remember right. Far as the cruise control, a lot of things effect it and will make it not work. This is out of the troubleshooting section of the FSM: NO CRUISE CONTROL WHEN SET BUTTON IS PRESSED & RELEASED Check for: blown fuse, no vacuum at servo and/or defective servo, disconnected speed control cable, brakelight switch out of adjustment, faulty electrical circuit, faulty Park/Neutral switch input to PCM, faulty PCM. Hope this helps.
  24. Can't find the pic right now but they are just like these except they're from a two door and fold forward. They are also cleaner. Originally had the wingbacks from a 4dr, but did not like the twead fabric and the fact that they didn't fold forward. I've heard they are comfy as well. And so your daily routine is worth while, here's a couple of updates, Worked on recovering the sun visors. Pulled the old ones apart and cleaned up the cardboard. Layed it out and put adhesive on them Laid the fabric over them. This pic was after it dried a little and I flipped it over to glue down the edges. The old ones were stitched around the edge so out came the needle and thread. Used nylon thread around the edge. Took way to long but there was no way my wife's sewing machine would of been able to handle the cardboard and fabric. Finished product. I'll give my fingers a couple of days off before I do the drivers side one. Worked on the tranny. Drain the fluid which I was happy to see it come out nice and clean. Dropped the pan and changed the filter. I'm thinking that it was either rebuilt or serviced not too long before I got it. Here's a pick with the pan and filter off. Went ahead and decided to prime and paint the tranny. Here it is after a couple of coats of primer. And after a couple of coats of paint. And lastly, I painted the plastic screen for the wiper cowl and put that all back together. If I get some extra cash this week, I'm going to get the motor and tranny into it's new home. :brows:
  25. It's basically bubble wrap sandwiched between heavy foil. Got it at Lowes. There's more info back on page 10 of this thread. The headliner material I got at the fabric store. It has the foam backing and with the 3M 90 adhesive, it did not bleed through like some thinner material does.
