I don't think it matters who owns what anymore. It will all be made in China before it's over. :redX:

I'd have to say it's just a full 97+ bolt on conversion with the bed bob. The bed body lines do appear to slope down from front to back but you have to remember that he started out with a long bed. To bob the bed, he had to hack some of the rear frame. The doors look a little off as well but again, they are from the 99 and may just not be aligned well to the MJ cab. All in all not bad but damn, it made my head hurt reading his write up.

That sucks. I thought I was going to get hosed because I could not get the owner account to open. It would just say loading setting and do nothing. I was able to log in with the other user account and run Avira the first time which killed off whatever was stopping the owner account to lock up. Then it just took time to run the rest. However I just found out that even though the owner account ran clean, for the heck of it I ran the 8 steps in the other account and it found a few more bugs. I would think it should have got them under the main account. I guess your down to reloading. I hope you are at least able to get anything of importance off of it. Good luck  EDIT: I forgot one thing that also helped out. I went here: http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner and did the online scan. It won't fix anything but it will tell you what you have. I was able to delete some files and registery issues that it pointed out was causing problems. This made the system more stable to continue with the 8 steps.

Nice work so far. And pretty quick too. I'm sure you know but just in case, don't throw away the headliner backer board or leave it out to get wet. Putting new material on them is not too hard but finding another backer board is. If you think your going to want buckets, don't waste the cash on the bench. Get a $10 seat cover and wait till you find what you really want. Especially if your thinking of swapping colors. I've learned a lot of patience working on mine looking for the good deals and parts that I needed. It has paid off quite a few times for me. Keep the pics coming.

Ok, I found it.

 They look very similar but are not an exact fit. Can't find the side by side pic right now. Hey Pete help me out as I'm pretty sure it's your pic. You could mod the bed to fit them but if your patient you can find a set for a good going price between $30-50.

I feel your pain on this one. I'm just finished working on a friends computer that was totally hosed from clicking on those things you shouldn't. I would have just reloaded it and be done with it but the recovery disk are lost and the partition on the hard drive with the recovery disk was infected. Soooo, long story short, I followed these instructions on this website http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic58138.html It takes awhile but will get the job done. I followed it through several times until all the bugs were gone. All in all, roughly around 800 infected files or registry issues were found. The great thing about this solution is that if the bug hides from certain programs, the other ones find it. Oh and that computer had Norton as well. I really like the Avira and Comodo combination and will probably dump my norton when its subscription is up for them. Also, I didn't do the whole post to the forum thingy that the instructions called for. Once all the programs ran clean, I knew I had them all.

Stay away from RRO ones. I have them, you don't want them. Check out my Wild build and you'll see why.

This thread is fairly entertaining. :D I like how during the thick of it all you have the comic relief by Pete trying to find a protractor. Oh and FrankZ, even though your comments may have not been rude, interpretations vary ie... Anyone? Sounds like someone that expects an answer quicker than he's willing to wait. Thanks but that doesn't answer the question, sets a negative tone and when read by some means, Thanks, but that doesn't answer the fuching question you stupid @ssmunche. Sorry things worked out bad for you but I guess you won't read this anyway because you won't be back, or should we say, you won't log back in. Oh, and using my non-calibrated wood sticks and framing square on my SWB, I came up with 8 degrees as well. But I never was good at geometry and probably didn't do it right. :dunce:

I'm waiting for my 4x6s to show up for the back. After listening to a lot of speakers I kept coming back to the infinity ones. I thought about the component set but  they jump in price like three times as much. I'm a cheap b@stard. :D Was going to put the tweeter in the b-pillar where the interior lights are but then found a near perfect set of interior lights and decided to go the way I did. I bought the 5 1/4s used(returns or display models) off of ebay from the best buy outlet and found a new set of the 4x6s on ebay for cheap. All together, I paid just under $80. :brows: By the way, the best buy outlet on ebay has super deals on all kinds of stuff.

o k so you bought the 2.5L pump but it says on your signature that you have a 4.0L would the pumps being different affect power and fuel dilevery :dunno: No, what he is saying is that he has the 2.5 assembly( sending unit and holder ) and put a 4.0 pump on it. That is the same thing I did above. The pic of the 4.0 pump is on the before pic's 2.5 assembly. Image Not Found I've never seen one like this but then again, I've never seen an a real 4.0 assembly for an MJ. The 4.0 from an XJ looks like the 2.5's (except pointing in the opposite direction in the tank and having the larger pump) Thought maybe that was an old 2.8 sending unit that had been moddified for the pump. :dunno: Does it look like the tube has been brazed on it? And in case your wondering, here is a pic of the 2.8s assembly. They had a mechanical fuel pump so all it had was the sending unit.

Now that I see you have blocks, definetly lose them. And did you just bolt in that axle from the cherokee without moving the spring perches? Or did I read it wrong? The spring perches are differently spaced and not a bolt in affair. -
The difference you describe sounds like the differences between a 2.5's pump and a 4.0's. I don't think a 4.0 can run on a 2.5 fuel pump. Here's pic's of both 2.5 4.0 Maybe it will help.

Car just got stolen out of my nieghborhood. Come to find out it was left running with the ladies purse inside. Reading the forum link, I had to laugh when the ole trunk monkey was brought up.

Welcome to the club. The only way your done with your Jeep is if you sell it to someone else. As Pete indicated, using the 2wd leaf pack will lower you a little and also, if you use the XJ shackle, it will drop you a bit as well. I can't remember how much, but the 2wd pack and XJ shackle is what I have and it gives me about 4.5 inches of lift in the back with the SOA. -
Like most, I wanted to put some nice speakers in the MJ to replace what was left of the factory ones but, I did not want to hack up the speaker grills in the door. I looked around and compared speakers until I found the set that I wanted. Infinity Kappa's 52.9i I don't need speakers that thump, just ones that let you hear clear music. These fit the bill and will sound just fine un-amped and with the stock radio. Here's the catch. With the tweeter sticking out, they will hit, just barely, the speaker grill. Soooo.... I figured I could add a spacer to the stock grill and give them just the space they need without losing the stock look. As this pic shows, you have a good 1/4 inch of post sticking out the back of the door panel. I had an extra set of speaker grills so this is what I did First remove the speaker grill by prying the retainers off the back. Once I had them all off, I took two of the extra ones and cut out the grill part with a utility knife. Using a small drill bit that will fit inside the post, I made a centering hole Then find a bit that is just a tad bigger than the post and drill through using the centering hole from the front side of the grill. You'll end up with this. You may have to use the utility knife to trim off whats left of the post if they don't come off when drilled. Now you can slide the spacer grill onto the good grille. Put them back to back for a flush look. This spacer has given me a good 1/4 inch. Since the post are not long enough for the retaining clips anymore, I use some small screws with washers to re-attach them to the door panel. Now you can put the door panel back on to test your fit. Mine was perfect and still retains the stock look. I guess you could use other items to make the spacer. At first I though about maybe cutting a piece of wood and painting it but the extra grills worked out great. If you need more than a 1/4 inch then that would be a route to take. I'm also going to get a little larger washer for the back to help prevent them from pulling through. Also, make sure your screw is not too long and that you do not over torque them.

Here's a useful link. http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/ste ... /1219.html Your dash harness may have been changed out so you might want to check other years on that site to find your match.

My wife had to change the voice on ours from a female to a male so I would quit ignoring it missing the turns and arguing with it that I know a better way. :D

Here's a couple of updates. Put the rest of the rods and wiring in the doors and as I stared into the handle opening something was missing. There is suppost to be a water barrier thingy to keep any water that finds it's way past the gaskets off the window switches. Soooo.... Since I have a couple of extra newer style door liners, I'll just cut a small piece to attach above the switch area. This would have been a lot easier when the glass and stuff was out of the door. If you have gorilla arms, forget it. I snaked the piece up through the speaker hole and then sprayed it with adhesive. Then stuck it in place. This stuff is water proof and the 3M 90 adhesive is more that enough to keep it in place for many years. I then set the door liner in to see how it was going to look. I like how the material is over the speaker to protect the cone from water. Finally installed the new push rods, rocker arms, and bridges onto the head. Figured now was a good time to refresh the paint on the block and oil pan. Cleaned up the intake and gave it a nice coat of paint and put it where it belongs. Hit a couple of other odds and ends that went with it also painted the exhaust manifold with high heat paint. I've got pretty much most of the brackets and pulleys done and sitting in place. Hope to finish the motor soon and put it in it's new home.

Awesome work. I'm really diggin that swing out tail gate. Super idea and you can swap in the original in minutes, I assume.

Very nice piece of history there. Did he hint to how much he paid for it? Did a quick craigslist search using "jeepster" site:craigslist.org and found quite a few $10K plus.

It's a D35, however it should have 4.10 gearing. I may go back and pull the 5spd. I just wish I would have gotten there earlier before the tail lights were snagged. I started pulling the floor brackets but could not get the passenger side off and ran out of time as well as battery power for my saws all. I figured that it would have been 1/2 weekend for Memorial Day. I would have pulled alot more if it would have been. :brows:

Yep, those be stock.

Project CRD MJ is born:

Seeing how your talking 8.8, spacers, and redrilling the hubs up front, why don't you just get a JK D44 rear and be done with it. Your widths would match and you could pick up some stock JK wheels for cheap so you wouldn't have to drill the hubs up front. Moneywise you'll still be ahead by skipping something you probably won't be happy with and forking out more money later to fix it. Just my .02 Nice build by the way.  -
Had a great day at the JY here after finding a 89 SWB in good condition. However I feel like I raped it. It had a nearly new CRL four pane slider and I didn't have anything in my tool bag to free it from the black goo, so I did something that I would normally not do. Out came the saws all and.... It was the last resort and I had to remind myself that it was in the JY and was going to get crushed anyway. I still don't like hacking up a MJ. :( I now have to decide if I want to use it on one of my builds or pass it on to the parts I need to sell pile. :dunno: I pulled a lot of other stuff as well but I think the best part I pulled was this. It had neither option but had the bezel for fog lamps and cargo light. :clapping: Now I can finish the dash wiring for the Wild build.
