Beginning of 1993 Cheromanche build
JeepcoMJ replied to dave92cherokee's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
The body's perfectly square since i did the frame first. The rockers are like that and have to be aligned because of the natural curve in the vehicles being connected at different points. I disagree. if the door frame doesn't line up, there's an issue. that's what should have been lined up from the get-go. -
WJ Booster and Master Cylinder Upgrade
JeepcoMJ replied to Comanche County's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
I'd definitely recommend the 95 or 96 over the later....same upgrade, 100% bolt-in. Stopping power is flat out 200% or more, if comparing to factory stop power. -

ah, yes....I forgot that dana 30's suck :( -
*shrug* you posted this on an open forum, without explaining the negative primary statement towards him. of course people are going to butt in.

I don't even know who 88 pioneer is, what are you talking about? If you're going to air it out here, Kyle, why don't you tell the truth? I had a deal with this jackass to come buy seats, doors, and a console. He gave me his address, and we tried to work out a time to come get it for a week. I was driving up north, and his place was an hour out of my way, I asked if I could come by. He said he might not make it back, he was doing something. I nearly get there, and he texts to say he won't be back but someone might be there and the parts were in the basement. So I get there, and the parts truck is there -- doors off, console and seats out, covered in a tarp. His uncle, I guess, comes out and tries to help out, looks through the basement for the parts, tries to call jackass, and so do I, but he doesn't answer, so I leave. I spend the next 3 days calling and texting, with no response, because I had to pass back through, figured I'd give it another shot. Finally I get a response telling me to "go f-ck myself," as if he had any reason to be pissed off at me. I had the cash in hand, and he's doing me a favor. I should have known better than to deal with this clown in the first place. I've done business with many Jeepers over the years, and a couple on this board, and I've never dealt with someone like this before. No one should deal with this guy whatsoever, in any regard. Sad thing is, if he were a decent guy, he's always looking for help, and parts, and I certainly would have helped him out. This is what Jeepers do. Now I'm "ghey?" You got two rotbuckets; your uncle said compared to your trucks, mine was "mint." LOL he did give you fair warning that he may not be there, and his uncle probably doesn't have a clue what he's looking for. *shrug* I guess you have a right to be upset over him telling you to f*k off...but, you should probably concede the point that just cause he's into jeeps doesn't mean the person that's there is smart enough to know where things are. I HATE people who want to act on their time frame, not mine. if I can be there at a time that's convenient for them to stop by, I will...otherwise, they'd better be willing to make their schedule meet mine.

while, theoretically, nothing should go wrong with your gears since you just removed the carrier...you really should have run the pattern before removing it, then run it again and compared after reinstalling it. on top of that, you shouldn't have had to remove the carrier to install the locker. remember...it's better to leave gears alone unless they MUST be touched. -
sounds like he needs to stop taking it in the butt. I have been in similar situations where people just show up...it is the reason that I no longer let anyone but people I know well see what's in my shop.
-
I'm pretty much with the OP on this one. what's your beef mjtjnj?

I expect that, too. but what do you expect when you buy something that someone else neglected, hasn't run in years, or hasn't been properly rust-proofed? I've probably spent around 25,000 on jeeps...and probably made more on them. every single one that I have bought has had issues when I bought it, and those issues have been fixed. the two highest investments are my '86 (MJ3800), which is around 9,000 and climbing with the next rebuild, and my '87 (utility MJ), which is around $7500. both trucks have had issues after being repaired that were caused by me. the 3800 has been through 4 or 5 transmissions, and an equal amount of rear ends, and will be on it's 3rd front axle and 3rd motor by the time I am done. this is because I put too much power in front of an already crappy transmission and rear end, I'm putting different gears in it when I rebuild it again, and the motor that I replaced the crappy 2.8l with, took a crap. this was ALL CAUSED BY ME. the '87 is on it's 3rd set of axles, it's 3rd front end, 2nd motor and 3rd trans, 3rd transfercase, and many other things. oh, it will actually be on it's 4th front axle...cause I beat the crap out of it so hard I made the original one smile at me. again, this is all caused by me...the original motor was worked on by mexicans of the stereotypical sort, plus I beat on it. it was originally 2wd, so I replaced the trans when I converted it over to 4wd...I swapped in 4wd 4.10 geared axles. I then stripped the truck, and put 3.55's in it when I dropped the lift down a bit. I also converted it to a '95 H.O. setup once, and am switching again to a '99 setup. like I said, this is all what I did to the truck, not due to any failures of it's own. again, almost all vehicle issues are caused by the owner, not the brand, and jeeps are no exception to this.

so... why didn't you do the rockers first? cause that's what should have been done first...just so the body is actually square. -
WJ Booster and Master Cylinder Upgrade
JeepcoMJ replied to Comanche County's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
you shouldn't have to modify anything at all...i've done this 4 times now using '95 or '96 xj brake boosters, which are the same identical setup as the WJ booster IIRC. even if not, the '95 or '96 xj dual diaphragm brake booster does the same thing. the difference IIRC is that the WJ does not have the aluminum spacer with it. -
I don't know anything else that can take the beating I have given my jeep, and still come back for more...much less driving over 200 miles with an EXTREMELY bent front axle, and not having a single issue. failure in these vehicles is 100% operator error...whether it be lack of proper maintenance, or doing something stupid, or getting hit by someone else's car.

IDK why I'm posting here. prolly cause everyone else is...even though he's not coming back.

put a no tresspassing sign up. then, even if it's unlocked, the poliece have to respond. I live on 7 mile road near 7 mile fair here in WI. it's a bunch of broke mexicans pawning stolen sh*t off. so far, from my place, they've stoeln a pile of sheet metal scrap (worth about $40...they saved me some trouble loading it), and they stole my old upstairs neighbor's chickens (you read correctly). You really can't stop them if they want something you have. they'll steal whatever they can...i've been lucky, and my barn hasn't been broken into yet.

CVT's have bee around for years, and are a proven technology at this point. Rob L. yeah...in snowmobiles and atvs. and I replace my belts once per season due to wear...with under 2200 miles a season, on a good snow year. sorry, I don't think they're a good idea in a road driven vehicle. Too bad it's not ran on belts. Rob L. what's it ran on, then? bands? it's a primary and secondary assembly, correct?

I'm anti-christmas-until-a-week-before-it-happens. day after thanksgiving, it's all cd's and mp3's until the week of christmas, up to a week after. I don't get a tree til christmas eve, and lights go up for that day, xmas day, and the day after...then come down. i HATE when people have it all up before thanksgiving, at least wait til the day after...and even then, I'm not a fan. no offense meant...this is all a nice gesture, and it's great that people get in the spirit of it...I just don't want to spend 2 months thinking about it.

once again the torque converter in the auto trans won't bolt up to your flex plate. if it's a 5 speed, it's a great swap. need a 74 cj304 pilot bearing for it, though.

good luck. that's not an aw4.

...and I could use a full black center console, too...I sold mine to Rob, and can't find my other one (probably sold it figuring i didn't need it lol) -

agreed on the CRD. my bro's KJ only got 15mpg city. they can take quite a hit in a rollover, though...and come out pretty darn decent. my brother's has a 3 or 3.5" OME lift, 4.11 gears, 265/75r16's on round hole aftermarket steelies. I believe he's got a detroit full locker in the rear, there's a wrangler smittybuilt rear swingout bumper on it, and it looks kicka$$ with the renegade light bar. he just rolled it on sunday...and it's fixable. rest of the pics...
