  1. My dad's Libby. Certainly not any of my MJs. :( hehe, i gots my a/c box from a 2.8 cherokee sittin in the milkhouse attic right now...now i just need to get the new condensor and 4.0 plumbing, and make a custom adapter for my a/c to work (cause this idiot went and made the motor mount too close to the back of his a/c pump and now don't have the room to hook it up w/o a 90* bend) :P the recharge is gonna suck....$$$$$$
  2. i'm using xj seats and they're the swivel type..taller than normal xj seats on mj mounts (yes, there are different ones). and i'm 6'1" and don't have a single problem. i've even got an overhead console and such...and it doesn't bother me a bit.
  3. lol, i managed to fracture my ankle, i've got MDI in one shoulder (it pops in and outta socket...need the socket shrunk), TWO hernias (one the size of an orange), quite a messed up back, and i suffer from jabbermouth. :P i feel like an old guy

  6. this was brought on by if he'd worn a full helmet & 5 point harness, probly would've come out unscathed... just with a sore @$$ :brows: that's rediculous though. wouldn't catch ME anywhere NEAR some BS like that. i'm trying to make it through to my 18th birthday ;) You're younger then I thought :chillin: but how old are y'all? it seems that there are alot of younger folks like me on here... i'm 20 as of april 9th. and i act my age usually :P
  7. 10-4 big guy. i ordered a new one it'll be here in 4 days. i'm replacing the filter and front and rear tranny seals, and cleaning the tranny in the meantime

  9. i like my straps. i also like being able to fit a ratchet onto the bolts...you can't do that with the u-bolt. BUT i haven't had any real problems with them yet...i'm sure my opinion will change when/if i do

  11. I'm game. set a date and I'll make a point to be available if i have a truck to wheel with...I'm workin on gettin rid of my 87 manche then buyin a 2 door cherokee or perhaps a 4 door and turning it into a cheromanche... but i'll settle for building it up first. we'll see :D
  12. haha, try doing 4 sets of ujoints in 1 weekend, and yanking the head from a renault and putting in new precups too.... the renault makes the 4.0 look like fun to work on

  14. 10-4 i just bought a new one...but it will take 4 days to get it. so i guess i'll clean the tranny really really good, and clean off the back of the engine and also take care of the leaking manifold while i'm at it
  15. that's only true if it's got a np231 transfer case....my 207 can only go in and snug down one way. as for it going bad, it's just like any other gear...it can go bad if it doesn't have anough lube or if it's hammed on. check speedo cable for binding, which is unlikely, and check tcase for fluid. also be sure it's the right gear
  16. it's the time spent on the welds, the transmission (a 6 rib vw bus tranny is worth 2500), the transmission adapters (if it's a mid-engine rail), a cnc hydraulic pedal assembly runs about 450, the time to build, seats, engine (whether a vw or something else), and the designing of the chassis. plus the front rims run 200 a piece for good ones, and then there's sand tires up front and large tread rears, not to mention the cv joints and suspension system. plus the money for any body panels and flooring, and bras for the roof, windshield if applicable, gauges, switches, short throw shifters (great mod for them btw) etc. for a used vw style sandrail you're looking at 2500 for a quality machine with a dual port motor. around 3k for a street legal one. (they take the vin plate from a vw chassis and rivet it on the sandrail frame) we've had 3 of them, got one for 1300 with a single port crappy motor, built it to a dual port and sold it, then bought 2 that had rusted out the bottoms of the frames from crappy welds and steel flooring for 1000 for the pair. made twice that by reselling just the frames and we still have 3 dual port motors left over... sandrails are FUN. much, much more fun than a dune buggy :D
  17. flexplate on my 87 comanche sport is cracked...badly. what years can I use? is there a difference in the cps part of it and bolt pattern? I have a few lineups but they're all for the H.O. engines and idk if they will work with the renix system cps. ideas?
  18. hmm...i can feel the bumps in the floorboards with a "creak/pop" noise. UCA bushings? i'm thinking so...perhaps I will just replace them all.
  19. i would have said ujoints. ball joints is next on the list. then tierod ends and control arm bushings. mine clunks right now because of bad ujoints. they're stiff and won't accept grease...time to fix that :D
  20. that's a starter relay and wouldn't have anything to do with your turn signals

    you will enjoy it. ALOT. get a bunch of extra tips for it...when learning to use one, you will use more tips than normal.
  22. walmart balances tires...but i don't know how big they do. it's like 5 bucks a tire or something...
  23. oh, it's an 87 and not a HO.
  24. I put in newer style cherokee short visors (using my original clips) and a (chevy yukon???) OHC today. didn't hook the lights up and there are no other electronics to speak of...but it looks GREAT! waiting on matching headliner material now (as I will recover the complete headliner at the same time...note the stains from the glue seeping through) sorry for the dark pictures.

I pryed on the dipstick support (part that bolts into the front of the bellhousing to keep it from wobbling) with a large flathead screwdriver. came out easy as pie..pb blast the seam, pry on the support (pry location is the bellhousing) and *pop* flexplate is CRACKED completely around the bolts. you can see the nice big one, but it's cracked completely around and the tranny is hella dirty. what year flexplates can be used in them?
