  1. don't say never...crazy guys like me are collecting them already and, that is worth easily $1850 if the floors are solid. you've got a decent manche ahead of ya
  2. micrometer or something of the sort. outside caliper. either way you're gonna have to get a measuring tool to get it right.
  3. ..and I hope you get some heat shielding, you're gonna heat all your brake lines and the fuel lines are TOO close for comfort... looks good tho
  4. oh, the bidder won't be dead beat, it's the owner who is
  5. 200~5200 rpm/225 Ib-ft@4000 rpm 19mpg city in the camaro, 30mpg highway. the comanche is around 4600lbs where the camaro is 3320 or so. I actually get 18mpg min. city, usually around 20mpg. highway I've gotten 26mpg running nothing but 70mph for a tankfull. and the specs still outrate a 4.0 (I believe the HO 4.0 comes close) the supercharged 3800 produces 240 hp at 5200 rpm, and 280 lb.-ft. of torque at 3600 rpm..which is extremely impressive to me, and that's without an intercooler and running merely 13psi of boost.. an eaton M90 supercharger will get it roughly a 33HP increase and 20 lb.-ft torque gain according to some people who've done that.
  6. yeah they're quick. planning on throwing a supercharged 3800 in mine sometime in the next year or so... uh, sorry for jacking the thread. that's 2 in one night, 3 in 2 days...oops
  7. nah. gonna run ford 8.8 with discs, or get TNT's rear axle and 4.10 the front. longarm babeyyy
  8. i've been tryin to do that for a year and 11 months now... just won't happen! and i've got a buddy with 33's and d35 with a 01 4.0 and he can't blow one up either! :redX: what're we doin wrong? there's an equation... HP + torque + lead foot = broken spiders. you just don't have the first 2 parts of the equation. you and your puny straight 6 4.0... :chillin:
  9. hey man, the plan for me is to sandblast and engine paint every drivetrain component as it gets replaced.. random fluorescent colors until i have like neon green ax15, pink 242, cat yellow axle, just craziness. i think that would be interesting. there is a 3 letter word to describe such tomfoolery. hint; first letter; G last letter; Y middle is not a U
  10. yeah, it was just fine for the rear in that camaro...not like I'd know or anything. ...honest, I didn't beat on it before I yanked the motor.
  11. pink is where it's at.
  12. least its not a camaro :rotfl2: (jp buddy) see that banana, that's you. watch closely  I love my camaro engine. ...I've managed this twice since the swap
  13. I don't see a "White" truck in that pic... :D the original poster will like how much he gets to show off his mud escapades with white paint.
  14. Yeah I agree, white is one of the best colors you can have. it doesn't show dirt as bad as a dark color (unless you wheel with Jeepco ;) ) it stays cooler, looks good when everything is blacked out (windows, black trim) you can wax it without worrying with swirl marks, lots of benefits to having white paint.. black on white man, black on white. I love my colors...black int. white ext. all black trim/accessories. just one clean machine, and yes, low maintenance body-wise.
  15. at lake geneva raceway last time it was opened sorry, not many action pics. a few of tater tho subsequently, that was tater's last run too...:-/ the 3800 will get muddy soon enough, I'm gonna longarm it and 6.5" lift on 33's :D anyways, white's not a bad color...
  16. ah, it looks just fine
  17. but why a ford? piece of $#!&
  18. its easy enough to do... but its a pain in the @$$ when you do it 40 hours a week you don't really feel like fixing your truck when it breaks down all the time or needs a motor or somethin, much rather just buy it in good condition and maintain/swap things as i feel like it :P do the whole she-bang in one go. new motor, trans, rebuilt axles, and you've got a good looking truck with fresh motor. to me, If I had an extra vehicle, I would take a looong time to do the mechanical work than doing body work. everything has a counterpart with mechanical work, so it "fits like a glove". you really can't screw up what goes where, if you're paying attention. body work...you get to make the glove and put it on the hand, and what happens when you realize (after the fact) that the hand has 5 fingers, not 6?...body work is harder. anyways, it seems like a good looking truck to me, the mileage doesn't bother me...the front axle at that mileage, may need some bushings etc. like stated
  19. :dunno: i guess thats a northern thing, down here body condition is a second thing you look for after mechanical condition. lucky bastard. reasoning here is...I can swap a motor in a day, and a drivetrain in 2 or 3, and have it work as new. I can't do great bodywork, and I don't like spending money on it much less the time on it. hand in hand, mechanical condition is worth less to me (and others) than body condition
  20. CET, can you go check out the rear trim, seat belts, lower trim, and B-pillar trim? and let me know the price, what kind of shape it's in. if you can box it (loosely...the tighter you box plastic like that the easier it breaks), I'm sure you can ship me all of that for less than $70. I'd really like to get it if you can check it out.... thanks, Pat
  21. I'm going simply on body condition. if it's as clean as it looks, it's worth $1500 at least
  22. it's official, my comanche is worth 11,000 dollars. bidding begins! :brows: seriously, someone will be extremely unhappy with their buy.
  23. higher pump pressure = easier steering
  24. yeah that
  25. that shouldn't insult him, if he's asking 700 over the BB value on the thing sheesh. an insult would be offering 500 bucks, it does look nice though, 4wd? KBB value isn't exactly on the mark. these trucks are more valuable in nice shape than anyone on comancheclub are willing to pay, but a rust free one is worth $1500 just for the body, nevermind what drivetrain it's got. mine blue books at $1200 and it's an 86, but the oldest thing in it is the 96 camaro motor. the insurance company of the kid who backed into me told me what it was "worth" and I about blew a gasket...the investment is much higher, it's alot of engineering, and frankly was pretty much a show-condition truck before then. $2300 in damage =total, and they're NOT gonna do that because the value is much higher. (I've been offered 6500 by a jeep collector and passed btw...too sentimental  ) sorry, roundabout way of saying it...but your idea of value vs. someone else's is quite a bit different. check the body, if it's got any underbody rust, I'd say it's worth $2000 or less, but if it's as clean as it appears, I'd say somewhere around the 2k mark. maybe not $2500 so try to get him to work with you.
