Questions about my Turbo Diesel MJ.
JeepcoMJ replied to Rebelfish99's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
True, but they're just as expensive there as they are here, and about as hard to find. It sucks having to wait 3 weeks for an alternator -
Just throw in a 3.4 from an early 90's camaro with the wiring and all. It's easy, and u just have to put a 4.0 sender in the tank with pump, swap the 2.8 exhaust manifold and oil pan on, and you're good to go. Instant reliable power increase.

Oh. I mean cut the corner out at the lowest body line and weld in a flat plate on the bottom where you cut. That area on an xj is just as bad as wheel wells on an mj for rust
-
Never lost one of mine...only locked them in the trucks. Since I've stripped so many, I either just break the wing window, or if it's rusty, reach through the floor. Either way, I'm not out anything I don't already have.
-
not bad, an easier solution would be to cut out the infected area and cut a peice of scrap sheet to fit and self-tap screw the new panel over the area and reinstall the cap. Actually, your method just promotes more rust in that area.

Questions about my Turbo Diesel MJ.
JeepcoMJ replied to Rebelfish99's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It's a renault 2.1 turbo diesel. You won't find any parts, they are hard to come by. How many miles are on it, and have you replaced the timing belt yet? Make sure you get it replaced asap as they are interference motors and it will cost you well over a grand if it let's loose. I'll snap some pics of my dad's when he gets home from work and I swing by his place. He does not have cruise, though...these are rare, cruise is rarer on them. The air filter can be cross referenced to a tractor air filter...I'll get you the part number. The only source for parts I can find is winnebego dealers. Some early lesharos have the 2.1 in them -
Cut it higher, weld the bottom up so nothing gets inside, and put the cap back on
-
And the people who built junior's xj have zero comprehension on how to build steering and trackbar. That front end is scary

The Replacement...now running!

thanks Red. registered it today. only things left to do are to put the power windows in, driver's seat, and remove the tcase drop. picked up a set of really nice 235 bridgestone duellers in trade for some jeep parts, so I won't be lifting it for now. maybe once I've soaked the front leaf spring bolts enough to get them out without breaking them...stupid welded nut inside the frame rail! -
external slave cyclender spacer
JeepcoMJ replied to green_miner's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
4 cyl or 2.8 v6? there is no spacer for a 4.0, and I'm guessing you didn't switch yours to external. -
if you are using a tow dolly, you MUST pull the shaft. front and rear driveshaft lock together when in 4wd, neutral, and 4low. that is FACT. if you're flat towing, you can just put it in neutral. with a tow dolly, you can't.

That front bumper has been used as a battering ram more times than I care to count lol. it's brightened my day several times...get home in a bad mood, floor it through the driveway, t-bone parts vehicle, laugh my arse off, and i'm all better. Tim, my dad has the ball joint press already and may have it back to me tonight all straightened out...we'll see how that goes. C u in the next day or so with that and the gas tank. -Pat

rims and tires up for sale, sold the rear bumper to my room mate, and installed on his '87 mj today, front bumper will probably go on the xj, shocks, front lift are going to my room mate, and I traded the OBA equipped roll bar to him for his nice stock roll bar. it won't be done for quite awhile. the front end was donated to the '97 xj. it will retain the 4.10 geared axles. the SYE transfercase is going in my friend jake's jeep. will retain the current engine and most likely the trans.

The Replacement...now running!
JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
seats and center console are in. picked up a flowmaster 40 for it, need some spare exhaust tube to finish it. then test drive, break in the brakes (they're good, but have 2 years of sitting on them), and put the power options in the doors, plus the cruise control clock-spring in with the cruise actuator. after that, it's just lift, tires, and proper paint. -
lol, I fixed the front axle. had to torch the center tube in order to get the gears out to put them in the "new" housing. it was just the best straight on pic I could find.

MJ Cab corners NA ? . . . how to solve this ? . . .
JeepcoMJ replied to AMC-MJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
tenfour. I may sell the 2dr patch panels I have that will fix the upper wheel arch in your truck. -

pulled the front end off of my '87 MJ today, and swapped the driver's fender and front end on after I did a quick prep and paint on them. not the same color of black, but it looks better than putting white body panels on a black vehicle. just need to throw the passenger seat in, center console in, and power doors in. then a new muffler and it is driveable. lift kit will also happen before I even register it. -

JeepcoMJ replied to AMC-MJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
AMC-MJ....is your truck a longbed or shortbed? the guy ONLY produces longbed bedsides. you can modify them, but there's no guarantee that they're gonna be perfect...only as good as your skills. the hole isn't punched in the correct spot then for the gas door, IIRC. -
these skids can take a beating...mine matches the angle of my front bumper. it's awesome for ramping up things
-
ugh. NO!!#@@$%$ you want to use 2dr xj rear quarters to repair your bed. you will be able to use the upper part of the wheel well from the 2 door to repair the rust above and behind the top of your fender flare on the bed. I said fender flare, reguardless, there was NOTHING mentioned of front fenders. ignore front fenders, they can't be used to repair anything in the back.
