  1. doin some lookn around and talked to a batt. store who suggested an 8d batt. which is a monster 250ah and 167 lbs, at a price of ~$150 (looking online i can't find were hes getting that price) the biggest yellow top is 75ah and 60 lbs.(i know weight means nothing as far as performance goes, just comparing) still need help figuring out charge time... anyone?
  2. the exaust has been finalized, 45* downpipe after cat leaving room for the 12 gallon air tank (perfect fit) all the extra equipment will go in a tool chest behind the cab. thanks for the numbers that simplified alot. how do i calculate charge time?
  3. resizing takes 2 seconds... 2 seconds too long like the car wash  me? thanks
  4. I'm putting a secondary power system in my truck, this will consist of a dedicated alternator (in place of the non existent ac in my mj) and dedicated batteries (mounted in bed) this system will be used for lites, power inverter, 12v heater, posably a winch in the future, and any other accessories that may pop up. mostly these things will not be used w/o the engine running, but it would be nice if they could. my questions are what type and size batterys do i want for this application?what products are recommended? were should i set my budget...$100+ for the alt...$100-200 per 1 deep cycle batt.? maybe i want 2 batteries :dunno: ? thaught alot about this and am just a little vague on a couple of technical details. now i need feedback

    HEY ALASKA

its actually better to be outside more often so you get acclimated to the temp. then when you got to run out and start the truck you don't have to spend 20 minutes getting geared up.

the getting around is the best part of living in ak. i am further south (anchorage) and don't much like venturing to far in the upward direction,to cold in winter to hot in summer. I'm one of those crazys that can't wait for snowfall just half way through june. driving sideways is way more fun than forwards, plus my tires don't were so fast.
  9. concord was the one i couldnt remember. but they were offered with a v8...304, was one for sale up here few years ago musta stoped to drool 5 times, was in realy nice shape with all the bells and wistles. also that same 304 was offered in the 76 gremlin
  10. all the pics of streetcomanches ive seen have them so thats what i assumed. was the street from the jeep factory or outsourced like duallys?
  11. is the front drive shaft balanced from the factory? will you feel it if not?

    HEY ALASKA

recommendation... go southcentral ak, southeast ak is always rainy
  16. ok start at the top planing on a power inverter but i don't want to switch it then the heater every time i jump in and out, and if i need to up my alt/ batt why not 12v thaught bout a blanket or seat heatr pad but i don't think theyd hold up to everyday all the time use gas heaters just seem scary...co and all... ak vehicles almost always have block heaters, and to get it to work like that they need to be plugged in all the time the engine is off. and bills at the house would be crazy, not to mention i can't plug into 110 all day at work let me revisit this at the bottom plugging and unplugging my self... to much hassle more cloths in the truck means more cloths to remove when i go inside...job requires in and out all day i did the buddy heater in an old escourt when i wasnt paying the electric bill...and once again no 110 at work... was nice though never had to scrape ice off the windows yah not going to use the cigg liter for anything but litting cigarettes so back to alt/batt upgrades... i always wanted to have a secondary power system, ie:an independent alt. mounted were the ac delete pulley is and an independent batt. in the bed. any reason this wouldnt be doable? how much heater could i run? how much btu do i want? seen maybe two threads on moving the alt. to said location, both seemed geto but i member hearing that the alt. mount from the 2.5 will serve this perpose anybody know?
  17. its november and -10*F :ack: I'm looking at 12v electric heaters to bring up the temp in my cab. i am regularly in and out of my truck throughout the day, the engine warms up pretty quick but i make lots of short runs around town, and the in cab heat never really gets up there high enough to take the chill off. yes the heater core is clear (only a couple years old) and i flush my coolant system every fall. my query, has to do with the effects on my battery and alternator, as well as recommendations on wattage and/or btu ratings. i want to use a direct wired heater, not a cigarette liter plug. i will not be using the unit unless the engine is running. i want lots of instant heat without killing the life of my equipment. i understand electrical theory but i don't know enough to do the math or have a solid answer for myself, so please help. product recommendations are ok too looking at these http://www.sportsimportsltd.com/12243648voin.html

  20. i want one is there more than 2 in existence... the thing on the back over the eliminator decal
  21. my '90 sent to me by the jeep gods the day after totaling my first mj ('86) ive yet to take a pic of the '87, only had it a year just havnt done much with it yet...
  22. swapped front axle shafts for ones with good/new universals, installed rebuilt front drive shaft, rotated tires, and... moved the snow burm left at the foot of my driveway by the :fs1: grader operators to the side to create a pedestal to park my truck on.
  23. could you explain this better? ive read multiple posts that all have similar numbers but these seem a bit tite from one size tire to the next. over the years ive come to trust your opinion on anything that involves math and technical fact, but wen i look at the math posted elceware and the random calculators, these numbers just look off. i assume that these numbers are were they should be and not what they would be to keep the factory final drive ratio :dunno: did i answer my own question? for example: had 28"tires with a 3.07 ratio and wanted to go to 33" tires i would want a 3.62 ratio. but why would i want the same 3.07 bs so up it to 3.73. http://www.izook.com/gearcalc.htm (i went 4.10 from 3.07 wen i got 33" tires)
  24. the parts are only new till theyre mounted on the truck. my buddy used to get pissd at me cause there was always new parts behind the seat and on the floor.
