is that flexed to bumpstop? it kinda looks like you stopped when the tire got to the fender, more backspace on the wheels could help the stuff factor.

i put a tool box in the bed for my extra batteries, but thats cause I'm adding 4. ...4 6v 260ah batteries in a kobalt chest, with 2 power inverters 800w and 1800w. all this powers a 50a heater, block heater, coolant circ heater, and any power tool i need. charging off a second alt, 190a upgrade cs130. (the preheat system is hooked to a keyfob remote) sorry for the :hijack: hijac just couldnt keep it to my self anymore, its not complete yet but when it is there will be a build thread. oh, both batteries should be the same type, brand and age or they will die prematurely. yes I'm crazy....

97+ front clip or not.....
akamcbird replied to GreenF350's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i like the newer clip, but i think it depends on what the whole scheme of the truck will be. i dislike the newer bumper, and i hate the way miss match flairs look. in my opinion, aesthetically speaking, if you don't have an aftermarket/offroad style bumper you have to use the newer oe bumper. if you use the newer bumper, the front flairs are mandetory. if you have late model front flairs, early model rear flairs look dated. i think tj rears would look ok with this setup but not sure, one mite be forced to go flat bed :brows: after all that ide consider how the rear bumper will look with the setup. then the mirrors would come to mind.early model would look a bit dated but I'm not real fond of the new ones... argg!!! whats a guy to do??? i think ima do it (some day) but ill probly be unsatisfied till i get the truck evened out. :typing: too much? this has been on my mind too. :wall: -
nothing "better" for a bolt on, without buying adapter plates. but youll find few that feel the need for stronger than the aw4, its not bullet proof but its a pretty stout tranny. use wiki to look through the options, all from dodge...yj's tf999 zj's 42re,44re and others tj's 42rle and wj's also used 42re

I'm not big on swag , but am more than willing to donate. just curious... what are the costs of running this site? monetarily...not to mention the constant supervising responsibilities. ide even pay a mandatory membership fee to keep the adds out!
-
better than what? for a bolt on tranny upgrade the answer is auto no and manual yes

your "genuine official 1989 Jeep Comanche Service Manual" is stating the two 5 speed manual trannys offered '86-'89, (the ax-15 replaced the ba10-5 in mid '89)... in '89 4.0l came with either the ba10-5 or the ax-15, the 2.5l came with the ax-5. dam lack of words per minute.... you beat me

School me on truck boxes...
akamcbird replied to ncgamedog's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
kobalt chest fits tite but requires trimming for the gass filler hump and releif cuts on the back wall. not a big deal unless you pay retail for it. the bulkhead (front wall of bed) is .5" narrower at the bottom than at the rails -
