  1. The tach has hours on it, Crash. And thank you. It will be more original when it's done.
  2. Zebvance, I looked at that set but everyone said they fly open fast. The red line opens then slows down so it won't slam up. I've already got so much money in the truck I might as well do it all quality. The body panels weren't anything to make from scratch. Just thought it would save some time with the Shermans. I bought a 4'x8' sheet of 20ga. For cheaper than the shipping on one rocker panel!
  3. this is the alternator/vacuum pump, CobraMarty. (maybe not the EXACT one I have but same thing) http://m.ebay.com/itm/191515247074 It is a vacuum pump for my brakes and heat... And not much of any update for anybody else. I cut some rust out of the fender well behind the flare on the bed, repaired it and my dad started shooting primer. Then it got cold the past couple weeks and it's hard to heat the garage and metal enough to primer so there hasn't been a lot done. I decided that hood shocks would be nice so I think I'm going to run the red line shocks (I think is the name, like others here have) I've still gotta track down a front bumper and header panel and get my seat re -upholstered. Once it warms up it should only be a couple weeks before It's to the painters.
  4. Alro steel. That's where my fab shop gets there's. I get it for their cost plus tax (ungodly cheap) so I don't know their actual retail prices. Mostly Midwest locations it looks like. Oklahoma to Florida
  5. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/371210535283?lpid=82&chn=ps http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/371210535283?lpid=82&chn=ps EBAY KIT ^
  6. you can piece the ebay kit together yourself (shocks and ball mounts) for like $40. same shocks and mounts.
  7. That's how all light bars are set up. Spot in center flood on the outside. Spot beam will "blind" people "blind"more than flood will, I think you had that backwards. You can't, well you could but people would bright you a lot, if you drive around with spot beam driving lights. And not a lot of companies of any even make a spot pattern pod. That one light bar is all ran on 1 switch. Good distance in the center, wide on the outside. But don't waste your money on a cheap light bar. An LED will go out in a week or you'll get moisture in it. Cheap ones are junk!
  8. this is my LED set up on my XJ 50" combo pattern on the roof, 20" spot pattern on the bumper and 2 sets of pods. (ones on the bumper are lows, ones in the stock spot are highs) these are FCKLightbars. they are ungodly bright and there somewhat pricey but not the most expensive. theyre quality. after looking at probably 60 companies, this is the one i chose.
  9. I built my rear bumper to look pretty dang close to the factory one...wasn't that hard once I figured out what I wanted.
  10. So far in the Cummins...About $18000 in the past 2.5 years. Its still gotta be painted and I still have to buy a few more body pieces before that... So I'm gonna say in the next 6 months I'll have about $25,000 in it. If everything goes right. Then "performance" upgrades for the baby Cummins...few thousand more. It's never ending.
  11. Mines the same way. Some from my moonroof but mostly from my new windshield. At the top, about 6-8" towards the center on both sides the glass dips down about 3/16" about 6"long and it leaks there bad on the pass. Side and a little on the drivers.... We found the dip in the glass after we cut the horribly installed rubber trim piece off so we could paint the cab.
  12. Depends on if you like halogen or LED better. I think they're both equals. Other than LED is more white /clear. I have Kc daylighter square s on my rollbar and on my xj I have 4 pods, a 20" on the bumper and I'm making brackets for a 50" on the roof. Very bright! Mine is a single row 50" . Looks much better than a double row at half the height...
  13. Well it was either Sherman or c-c or whatever and everyone said Sherman worked. Our rockers angle in closer back to front and these Sherman ones were the same size all the way down so we tried to slit it and pull it over but didn't work. So we actually ended up tacking up all the little pin holes in the rusty replacement rockers that were riveted on from the previous owner and we just used the front face of them and made the other 2 sides. So $100 down the drain on junk rockers and the 4'x8' of 20ga. I had laying around was $29 so we shoulda just started our own. But gotta learn somehow.
  14. Not motor wise. Doing body work right now. It's very slow. I have limited time and space. Maybe in a couple hours I'll update with pictures.
  15. Thanks. I see I really need to update my build thread! Wow! But Ya, reliability with enough power for anything I want to do in a jeep. And in a Comanche, you're right, not a good tow rig. I'd like to put my other motor in some kind of willys or cj rat rod.
  16. Weight and size was my concern in the beginning with the 4bt so 4thats why I decided on the 3.3. I can tell it doesn't way hardly anymore than the 4.0. That and 4bts are in EVERYTHING. there is an electronic common rail qsb 3.3 too... But I haven't found any "cheap" 3.3s. Mine were a heal of a deal but not cheap. Parts are as easy to come by as the 4bt, as long as you have part numbers or can talk to somebody intelligent at a dealership.
  17. Yes. 2 of them. Got a great deal on them. Just waiting to finish this truck to start a 2nd one! Ha A 4bt would work just as well but it's been done 16845 times and is a little harder to fit in there
  18. Way too much electronics for me! Adnd too pricey (sorta) for what it's worth. Just swap a Cummins in like I did. Simple and a little cheaper.
  19. So if they install everything they sell for it, it's gonna cost about $20,000
  20. does anybody have any pictures of 97+ fenders/swap with older style flairs mounted to match the bed? ive searched but havent been able to find anything
  21. Putco harness. Delta housings and Narva 130w/100w offroad motorcycle bulbs! They out shine my kc daylighter pencil beams! Everyone said those high watt bulbs would only last 3 or 4 months but Ive used them every night for 4 years and no problems!
  22. wow, i don't know how i missed the flare work but looks good! didnt look all that hard to do. do you have any other close up pics of how it fits the bottom body lines? and theyre just held on with double sided body tape?
  23. I haven't done HIDs in mine. I don't like them. I have the delta housings, putco wiring harness and 130watt Narva off-road motorcycle bulbs. VERY bright. They outshine my kc daylighter pencil beams!
  24. Got any close ups of the rear fender flares? Are they just xj flares? Have to modify them ?
