  1. i just made my own... not as hard as you might think...
  2. I'm having the timing advanced this saturday. and ive already bought motor mounts i posted. but ill look into the ones you suggested when i throw the 2nd motor in something.
  3. we are not drilling the holes, Phoenix is. thats what he is doing this week and thats all he has left to do. http://cumminsengines.com/b3-3-tier-3#ratings this is the quick info on this motor. there is a lot more out there with some searching. and also, about 3 weeks after we installed all the gaskets, we fired it up yesterday to see if it leaked. IT DIDNT! next weekend i am also taking it to get the timing advanced.
  4. heard from Bill at Phoenix Castings a couple days this week. Tuesday he said he started on it last sunday but the casting was bad and there were holes in it so he had to scrap it and they were pouring more that tuesday so he would start again wednesday. got an email last night that said he started on it again friday night and would be done on the lathe sunday and then just had t o drill the mounting holes. i paid the first half for him to ship it to me ($330) then ill pay the other half once i get it and make sure its right. i also ordered motor mounts today. they are for a 5.9L cummins and got them from summit. part# ANI-2710 they are anchor industries mounts. this is the picture Bill sent me of the adapter on the lathe. motor mounts. hoping to have the adapter in the next week or 2 then start mock up!
  5. the adapter isnt exactly "custom". the company used to produce them but there wasnt much of a demand for them so they quit offering them. bill said that he thinks he still has the molds, but after a week he didnt get back to me so i called him yesterday and emailed him again and he said he would look yesterday afternoon and get back with me but hasnt yet. I'm hoping he can still do it all for me...
  6. So finally have an update. last weekend i got my gasket kit and installed all the ones that were missing like the oil pan gasket. and replaced the rear main seal since it leaked and when we took it out, found that it had a big chunk missing from it. for ALL the gaskets and seals, the kit only cost $112 shipped. and came with other gaskets for other models of Kamatsu engines. i can get a part number if anybody ever needs it. didnt take many pictures of the process..... Image Not Found I also contacted Phoenix Castings monday and ordered my adapter to mate the tranny to the engine. Bill, from the company, sent us some info on how to figure out exactly what housing we needed to get and was very helpful. $650 for it and itll take about a month for him to cast. Not bad. better than buying 2 adapters like i was thinking id have to for $1100! also started to pull the engine out of the parts truck for mock up and might have it completely out this weekend. making a junkyard run saturday so depends on how long that takes. ha.
  7. I don't think they were. I think Cummins would have just scrapped them if they had been and not spent tht time to paint them and sell them. My other reason is they werent complete.
  8. I'll be sure to post any info I can get on it and that i discover. And leave info about bbrackets and mounts for sure. And if anybody wants to buy the 2.5L I'm going to pull out of the parts truck for cheap let me know. It will be scrapped if nobody wants it. And the 4 speed that goes with it. It runs and tranny is good. Also have another parts motor and another good 4 speed. Central Indiana area. Cheap.
  9. just started my thread about my swap. its in "pub"
  10. i will be starting a thread today about it hopefully and we should be starting the project this weekend or next.
  11. i just picked 2 of these motors up a few weeks ago. they were displays that cummins took around to shows. they have ZERO hours on them and never had fluids in them. Paid quite a bit for them but cheaper than "new" and soo worth it! should be firing one up this weekend to see how it runs then i will start my swap into my MJ here in the next couple weeks. I'm excited!
  12. i bought 2 little ZERO hours, touring display 3.3L cummins motors a couple weeks ago that will go in my MJ. Got a junk parts truck that i will pull the motor out of and use for mock up for motor mounts and other fitting under the hood. should be firing up one this weekend to see how it runs then the rest should begin soon!
  13. I live in Indiana. It's getting harder and harder to find parts aroundhere for some reason... ;) most of them are in the storage room of my barn. Hopefully, but sadly we will be getting rid of mu dads red 96 so he can use the money on his truck to restore it. And I'm starting to realize I need to be rich to support a jeep family!
  14. Empty Post
  15. We go to Danville ill. There were like 5 comanches there but we EVERYTHING mj specific that was worth anything. We need to try Indy pullapart for xj parts though. Got 5 of them too lol.
  16. We don't take ours off road either. Were in the process of restoring 3 of them. And we've picked most of the junk yards and pull a parts in the state. Sorry. Ha.
  17. Brazil,IN right here. 5 Mjs here. Where are you at?
  18. The tan interior and grey door panels would bug the crap out of me. For $19000 or even $12000 they cpuldnt have found tan panels?
  19. tail light porn! got about $60 in all of them. :D
  20. I can't see any of your pictures (stupid phone) but I changed my interior to all black and I love it! The truck is stupid red right now but will be dark blue when finished so I think it will look good. And I like the maroon color of yours.
  21. Make your own. Get a piece of 1 inch tubing or whatever size it is, cut the sides off and weld in pieces so the two sides are flat and weld that to a piece with a hole in it. Or if you can't weld get somebody to. Show them a picture and it shouldnt take more than 20 minutes. That's what I would do if I lost mine.
  22. There's no comanches in any local jys? Whenever I go I try to get everything Cmanche specific, whether I need it or not. And I only have one side of the pivot...not the pair.
  23. i thought i had a few extra sets but i could only locate one single hinge. and one top catch. if interested I'm about 3 hours west of you in IN. i have a few sets of the tailgate side to the hinge if you needed it...
  24. the tailgate hardware was the first bunch of stuff i had powdercoated. even before i had a bed! ha. because when i got my truck it looked like this... it had that sweet wooden flat bed on it, that if I'm not mistaken, came as a factory option in '91. :rotf: but even being powdercoated, it didnt really last there on the tailgate. no matter what you do to it its gonna wear off being opened and closed so roughly that much. but when the truck is closer to being done ill have it all redone. (and i know the primer is getting bad. it will be redone in a couple months. just needed something to get me by and that didnt look as bad as rust!)
