HITCH PLATES!

You beat me to it. Even after I told you I needed to tell everybody on here. Thanks. I'll hopefully have Bo's tubes bent over the weekend! -

I'm waiting to see them on my truck! This whole process has been great. I am glad I went with Brandon's sliders (and rear bumper). I will happily throw a few dollars extra to get a outstanding club member a toe hold. You have everything you need now man. I can't wait to see where you take it. Good luck and I hope you have all the success you can handle! Thanks! I'm getting super excited to get them done and see them too! I'm hoping to have them shipped by the end of next week. and the rear bumper is coming along nicely! glad we got together on these projects! got some good ideas and creative juices flowing! got some motivation for this stuff going now! REAR and FRONT bumpers coming soon, all! Your "warnings" are unnecessary as far as I'm concerned Krusty. Your hitches are reasonably priced, well constructed, and most of all you stepped up to the plate and delivered a product that was needed by the MJ community. I'm sure your sliders will be more of the same. thanks! the sliders are nothing special or new but the QUALITY is there! once i get some free time at home ill be able to do some bumper and other product designing! -
the turbo that came on mine ( i think its the same on most of them) is a mitsubishi t-something i don't think its too big. it spools instantly. its pretty snappy for what it is. its not fast just "quick" i think we bought a set of first gen cummins motor mounts and didnt think we had enough room to work them in. but i think on the 2nd swap ill use them. I'm running 3.73 gears in mine i think...with the ax15. i don't know if id trust the automatic behind this engine.... I'm not sure how heavy my trailer is...its a dual axle 18' steel car hauler... its a little on the heavy side for the truck (and cherokee) as far as stopping it. i didnt have to do anything to my motor really. it was basically brand new when i got it. this 2nd engine ill have to tear down. its got "sand" in it and is missing a few things anyways.

HITCH PLATES!
krustyballer16 replied to krustyballer16's topic in Vendors- members making products for MJs
I'll "notify" everybody again... I can't beat Nate's prices with shipping included. It could only be cheaper if you're closer to me... But I have a few sets going to people that appreciate the work I've done for the hitches and that I'm an actual Comanche owner and jeeper. I'm not in it to make a killing, just to help fellow MJ lovers out. I hope everybody understands and are still interested. The quality of these is just as amazing as the hitches! -

Set of SWB sliders done (without the round tube step) *technically not "done" feet pads and beam clamps arent completely welded on yet in pictures but they will look exactly like this when fully welded. this set will sell for $250+ shipping. -
it wasnt me that did the governor spring swap but i saw that... when i had my pump rebuilt i had him adjust it so it was governed at about 2850...so I'm set pretty close there. it didnt make a difference really, but i did it so i had more rpms while pulling my big trailer up hills i saw that colt cams' "stage 3" cam for a 4bt ran about $300-$500. (not sure how much my cam would be) how much was your grizzly cam? i have been planning on running an intercooler but havent got around to it yet. i havent really found one that i like or that will fit. and with my set up now, i don't have any room to run a bigger turbo without changing my piping around. i have another 3.3 that I'm going to build and ill run honed injector nozzles, intercooler, a compound turbo set up and possibly now a cam. ill throw it in a lowered 2wd comanche and itll be my "fast" truck. i have an HX35 now but I'm not sure how it compares or how it would work in a compound set up with the stock turbo (my 2nd motor is not-turboed, but still) and i havent had time or really looked into making a video. i might someday. its a shaking little motor. especially how solid my motor mounts are. thats something id do different on this 2nd engine swap...

RC bumper, Stinger or light bar?
krustyballer16 replied to Paul Bruchal's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Bolt on d-rings seem kinda sketchy to me... The stinger or small hoop I thi k would be OK bolted on but I'd still feel better with it welded on... I have a 20" light bar in my small hoop on my Cherokee. -
We just got some 20ga. sheet metal and cut some strips and went to town. I have a little metal break too so that helped cuz there are some steps on the bottoms side too. And just took our time and tacked it all together then took it off and welded it. And the cab corners we just cut out as square as we could. Mine were mostly still there just a few holes, so it wasn't that bad to fix. And the rockers do get wider as they go back. That's why those repop rockers are junk .They're broke straight all the way back.

Didn't work on the round tubing step part but did take them home for a test fit. We're good so far! I'll have pictures soon and hoping to have the step part done soon too! -
Neither one of them are anywhere close! Don't waste your money on them. Either find a good set on a truck or make your own. We made our own on mine and it was easier than I thought and you can't even tell! Perfect! I had maybe $8 in steel in both of them and cab corners.

I'll throw this out there now... I can't beat Nate's price, shipping costs too much, unless you're ready close then it will be cheaper than Nate's,maybe. But mine are built a little beefier...And can be changed or "made custom" easier than they can do. Thanks That's sounds good to me. I was going to pull the trigger on a set from RR for my SB, but since your making them I'll go with yours! I wasn't aware nates made them for a SB? Good deal! It'll be a couple weeks before I'm done with the first set for shelbyluvv They're taking pre-orders for SWB sliders, apparently: http://comancheclub.com/topic/49350-nates-4x4-swb-sliders/?hl=nates I saw that. I've had a couple people approach me about them and are waiting on my "prototype" to get done too. Some people have backed out of their pre-order to wait for mine... -

I'm working on getting it all tuned in. I don't remember how I did mine originally at all! And this one I'm doing now is just a little bit different than mine. I think I'm gonna redo it. And I'm trying to find a price range I'm comfortable with . -
with my rustys 4.5" the wheels are centered... I'm glad too... i think how far forward all these sit look ridiculous. i pull an 18' car hauler loaded down with side by side and quads and never notice the wheels tucking up any different...

Well that's good to know. Didn't know there was a difference there. -

And you have to take the shackle bolt out to mount my hitch on too... Or you can just cut that hole out of the hitch plate... -
Krusty's hitch installation - Broken bolts
krustyballer16 replied to Big Dan's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks. And it would be pretty easy to do. 2 pieces of 1/4 with the bolt pattern cut out in both of them the same. But with one plate with 1/2" holes for the 1/2" nuts to be welded on and the other plate has the holes drilled out to like 5/8 or 3/4 to go over/around the 14mm nuts. Both plates welded together of course and long enough to hold onto and place during installation. -

krustyballer16 replied to Big Dan's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm sure I could come up with some sort of "nut strip" for these. You'd still have to get the broken bolt out and drill through the nut but with the nut strip you wouldn't have to knock the "weld nut" out of the frame... I should have thought about this at the beginning so they were available for all the hitches I've sold... Just an idea. -
had a little "hiccup" tonight going to dinner and a movie, i had just got done talking to a female friend about her brake line blowing out and then i lose power brakes! so i get where I'm going and trace my vacuum line back to the alternator/vacuum pump thinking the line just came out somewhere but instead i see that the alternator isnt spinning with the motor... but its spinning every once in a while and ive still got power so i decide to drive it home (20 miles) so i get it home and while its running i look at it in the dark and smell burnt rubber from the belt so i figure its locked up.so i shut it off and push the alternator to the side and see that the "tensioner" bolt just came loose and the belt wasnt completely tight. PWEW oooooo (ooooooold pic from way back in the build)
