We do a lot of both camping. We use the smoker and grill a lot. She loves to bake also. I could put a oven it in. It isn't that difficult. There are other issues... The lack of a real dinette is a downer. If we have the kids with us they will be on the floor. That is 2 missing bed spaces. We would not get the theater seating either. I like to sit with my wife and a center divide would stop that. Also kills another bed. The 1165 is laid out almost identical to our current travel trailer. I like that layout. We bought the pontoon so we can have our friends and family with us. The truck will be comfortable for them to travel with us. We need a place for them to sleep also.

To me these are the advantages. I can still have a truck when I need one. I won't have a lawn ornament when it isn't being used, it will be my daily driver. The truck comes with a lifetime warranty. It will be 4wd. I can get a manual transmission. The camper can be removed by pulling 4 pins, lowering the jacks and driving away. This will come in handy when we want to go to dinner, the zoo or on a date. This keeps us from having to take the dogs in the camper and leaving it on. My boat is only a 22' pontoon. But I still have to have a hitch. Not all states let you pull tandems. Those are my reasons. Your ideas May differ. We are very outdoor types and will travel the country fishing and camping once my wife retires.

1165 http://www.amlrv.com/eagle-cap-truck-campers/eagle-cap-truck-camper-models-floor-plans/eagle-cap-truck-camper-model-1165/ 1200 http://www.amlrv.com/eagle-cap-truck-campers/eagle-cap-truck-camper-models-floor-plans/eagle-cap-truck-camper-model-1200/ We are between the 1165 and 1200 She wants the king bed and center bath. 1200 I want the queen with oven. 1165 The 1200 only has a convection oven.

My current truck is absolutely beautiful. I'm a bit biased though. There is one major issue with it and it isn't the transmission. I already had that built. My issue is the Mega Cab has a terrible cargo carrying capacity. It think it is like 1200#. Throw on a long bed and 22" of frame, drive shaft and exhaust and I have NO capacity. We want a truck camper but with Meg's limited capacity we don't have a lot of choices on campers. I don't want a Class C and a 5th wheel is out of the question because of our boat. I have come to the conclusion I am buying a Ram 5500, having a custom utility bed made and throwing a Eagle Cap 1165 on it. I am retiring in July from the Marines and moving back to Georgia. Yes it's true. The MJ is already on it's way back and should be there Tuesday. I can't wait to get back east and start the build on this thing!

For who? I miss my CJ. I will have another one in a couple years.
-
It is very detailed!

There are plans to maybe change only the panel with the CJ grill to something else. Setup time is not cheap for the CNC laser guy. I will hint around to what is in the works... There could be a Comanche Club fire pit raffle this spring.

It's just for logs right now. Throw it on the ground and light it up.

As most of you know Brandon (Krustyballer) and I do a lot of business together. He and I talk on a daily basis. Never once met in person or on the phone. Only through text and Facebook. With that said we had designed some pretty cool stuff together. I asked him to make me a fire pit and sent him a few pics of what I had in mind. He finally got it lasered out today. All I can say is it is our best work yet! Yes we have made some cool sliders and bumpers but this takes the cake! I can't wait to get it in my hands!!! Awesome job buddy!!!

I regret letting my first car go all the time. If I had it to do all over again I would still have it. If you love it and it has sentimental value to you keep it. I've been dragging my Shelby Charger across the country for 20+ years and will continue to do so. I love the car and it has a special place in my life. I'll never let her go, ever.

Nused XJ and weird mirrors

It would be. I now understand why this is a $800 lift. It rides so good. -
Nused XJ and weird mirrors

Safia was getting some shimmy and pops going down the road. As I started investigating the issues I realized the entire suspension was shot. I had a OME XJ Dakar lift lay around so why not? It rides and looks 100x better now. -
3 VatoZone batteries in two years.. I think I will stay away from them from now on. NAPA or Interstate will be the only batteries I buy from now on.

I just ordered these for my XJ.

Oil in the coolant
shelbyluvv replied to RustyShackleferd's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Not true at all. My truck has been pushing oil into the coolant for about a year. The head gasket is finally really letting go and I have steam coming out my tail pipe and it smells sweet. I still have no water in my oil. -
Use your stock lights. All you have to do is rewire them.
-
And adapters. They are 5x5 lug pattern
-
Sidekick or Sami would be my two choices.

I finally tore the bed off to install the 1970 Mustang tank between the rear rails. I had to remove two factory cross members and trim the lower rails to make it fit. I then put the stock cross members back in and made a strap that goes over the top of the tank. I'm waiting on my rubber welting to come in to bolt it all in. While looking at the rear pinion angle I realized it was too high and so was the rear of the truck??? A few minutes with the grinder and I had the shackle hanger flipped and a 1" drop was accomplished. That leaf pack was awful stiff and rode like hell. My 10 leaf pack quickly became a 5 leaf pack. I removed all the rust, painted and greased all the leafs before re-installing the leafs. We threw the bed back on and took a peak. Henry looked SWEET! but the front was a tad to high. So out came the front leaf packs and they were taken down to from 8 leafs to 4. That's how a 40's truck is supposed to look!!! We couldn't be happier with the stance. we accomplished a 2/4 drop for the cost of new ubolts and plates. A whopping $60! Stay tuned. There will be more to come real soon.

I went seat shopping and found some beautiful Audi A4 heated seats. Once I got into the interior I realized how bad the column was installed. The gas pedal is in the wrong location and the brake pedal is way to high. I removed the column and sat the seat in the truck where Steph would be most comfortable. Once everything was locked down I started making my shopping list. So far we need a new shifter, brake pedal mount, gas pedal and steering column. The bed comes off next week to install the fuel system.

Well... Sigh... Tweaker boy I got the truck from told me how meticulous he was about wiring. Once I got into the rats nest under the dash I knew what had to be done. I had to rip it all out and start fresh. He actually used a extension cord and wire nuts to fix the headlights. Just because Stephanie is a fire department dispatcher doesn't make her a fireman! I ripped out everything that looked sketchy and left just enough wires for it to start and run.
