Daughter #2 needed a car. I stumbled on this 99 2wd XJ for $500. It didn't run and had been sitting for 3 years. I found 3 cut wires and a bunch more chewed up by mice. I got it running then of course the fuel pump died. The interior was nasty. So we pulled the seats and carpet and started the cleaning process. Not a bad deal for a cheap beater car. I need a left rear flare and bumper cap. If you happen to see a chili pepper red XJ in the yard I need the painted flare and unpainted bumper cap. The clowns on eBay want $50 for just a flare, nope!

Or a 241? They are both passenger drop?

My 80 CJ5 had a 304, T176 and a 300 transfer. It was lifted 2" and I had plenty of drive shaft angle. I think a 4.0, AX15 and 231 with a SYE would be a good fit.

Florida has salt air and will not out a Jeep quick. The south has tons of rain which rots them out from the inside. They also think they are worth way to much. I have flown and drove a few times. Utah and Colorado are good for finding nice rigs. The desert will be rust free but the sun bakes the seals, rubber, paint and interiors. I buy tons of cars and northern AZ and NV along with UT and CO are my go to places. Good luck and if you are a true car lover the trip home after buying makes all worth it.

I'm alive here in South Georgia. We got slammed pretty bad here in Albany. I have at least 25 trees down. 2 on my shop. It held up and protected the MJ and the 48. I have 2 50' pines on top of my well house. It is totally crushed. They also took out a 25' section of my fence. I also have 3 of my neighbors trees on my fence and in the pool. Luckily we had nothing hit the house too hard. We have some bent gutters and a few missing shingles. We are still without power. I sold my generator a long time ago. I underestimated the power of this storm. I hooked up a 1500 watt inverter to my boats battery on the mule. So far it has kept our bad @$$ fish and Bill the Lobster alive. These fish have survived a 2300 mile cross country trip and now a hurricane. Here are some pictures of how I packed all the toys away and some of the damage. If you look closely you can see my well house and the corner of the work shop where the 48 was parked. I knew retiring for the Marines was going to be tough but this took it to a whole new level, lol!

I have been without Onyx for about 9 months. We've been getting settled in the new house and she is perfect for hauling stuff to my work shop. The 3500 is a nice truck but I absolutely love my old girl. Even though she may have a cracked block it never gets hot and the oil pressure is still 50+ psi.

This is exactly why I dropped Progressive and went to GEICO. USAA is a joke. The screwed me when my truck got vandalized. They were so bad I dropped them in the middle of the claim. Good luck getting a fair value of of them if your vehicle is totaled. I am with GEICO now and don't plan to change.

I have a irregular heartbeat from caffeine. Luckily I drink a lot of beer to offset it

I quit smoking 7 years ago and gave up Copenhagen 5 years ago. I don't touch either now. Don, congratulations! Keep at it brother. It's the best thing you can do for yourself and your family.

It was a one owner car (old man) who never drove it in the winter. It was bought by a guy in my club and gently modified and restofied.
-
It's has full Koni adjustable suspension, RT interior, stage 2 turbo and ECU. Rumor has it it runs low 12s in the 1/4!

Thank you! I'm essentially doing the same thing I was in the Marines. I only wear nice clothes vice cammies, lol. I plan on spoiling the hell out of this little girl!

It is in Kenosha. It's being stored indoors until I get my house and garage situation settled.

Thanks Pete. I'll come hang out with you and go to the yards again. I'm going to make a trip across the border to see you Chief! Brandon, go up to Wisconsin and get my grandpa mobile and bring it to me!

The ride was long and slow. The Cummins averaged 13.9, the WK2 Hemi got 13.3 and the XJ rang the bell at 22 mpg! The trip was pretty uneventful until the 96 XJ started to run like crap in New Mexico. We pulled off the interstate and I went to troubleshooting it. It was running terrible and shutting off randomly. I unplugged the TPS, IAC and CPS then plugged then back it. Fired it up and she was running better. I told my daughter to take the lead and if it dies to pull way off the shoulder. Luckily it didn't stall again. We drove another 2 hours to Las Cruces NM where we found a AutoZone. I bought a new TPS and a bottle of Heet. I threw the TPS in the glove box and the Heet in the tank. It was cured after that. I think we pick up some bad gas in Tuscon. We made it to Georgia Sunday afternoon, tossed the two dogs, three cats, five fish and one vanilla lobster in the trailer and made our way to see our grand daughter for the first time. I'm glad it's over, we put an offer in on a house and the appraisal is tomorrow and I start my new career as an Equipment Specialist for a DoD Contractor.

The V6 is a 3.2 Pentastar and it is a beast! I would not have at 4 cylinder. We had a rental car with it and it was a dog. You won't find a shifter in them. Just a knob to engage the SelecTerrain. I hated them also. I am a believer now. If you can get the Trailhawk. They are not much more money and you get so much more.

www.jeepcherokeeclub.com I had a 14 Trailhawk and it had transmission issues. So much so I worried me that my wife would get into an accident because of the missing 3-2-1 down shift. Other than the flash to "fix" a failure prone snap ring, that removes the down shifts it was a great little Jeep. I was just telling my wife I kinda miss the little guy. "Real Jeepers" and I use that term loosely. Will talk $#!& and bash your Fiat. I wheeled the piss out of my KL and I loved it. It is a damn capable Jeep. If you ever plan on towing make 100% sure it has the factory tow package. If it doesn't it is limited to 2k towing. 4k with the factory towing package. Do not let the dealership lie and say they can install the package. They can't. The difference is in the diff ratio not the cooling system. As one of the few that have owned a KL I would absolutely buy another Trailhawk (16 or newer) as a play toy/daily driver.

I would have to start as a GS 12 to get what I am getting to start with this company. I'm pretty comfortable with my retirement and VA. My wife is a GS7 step 2. I don't want to work more than 5 more years before I completely retire. We need to pay down a few bills (child support) and then we will be set. That divorce a few years ago really set me back.

Not easily. You can swap the entire door and striker fairly easily.

Not old school at all. It is dangerous to drive right now. It was built in the early 90s and it it butchered. I want a nice safe driver for my wife.
