local JY's here have d35s in just about every jeep they have, but thinking the shipping probably won't be worth it to you.

What's The Best Oil Filter To Use?
snakedoc67 replied to 88blackpearl's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm glad to see this thread, have been trying to find the same number that is on my truck (3980, can't think of the manufacturer off the top of my head). Since most of my shopping is done after hours was not able to find numbers for the other brands. Even when I got a WIX 51515 yesterday, the clerk looked at me funny since his computer didnt say it fit. (last one in the store so called ahead and had it held). -
I had an idea when I misread Billyzj's post from a few days ago about titled "Comanche Freebee", misread it to read Comanche FRISBEE.

I have the same issue with one here, I'm surprised it was still there as of last week. Body is in better shape than mine, and even the frame looks clean. If its still there Fri when I get paid I'll be out there with a sawzall to save the lower half of the door frames. Havent pulled up the carpet on it yet, I'm scared of what shock i'll go into if there isnt rust. I do have the PO's number, they used it for a power washing business and left a card inside. Asked the yard about how much for the fuel tank and sending unit, they are nice enough to punch large holes in tanks.

Thanks, I knew I would have to cut and reweld the hangers, etc but was not sure about the differental placement.

Dana 44's off a J10, would they fit on the MJ's? The passenger side differential is what I'm wondering about http://lincoln.craigslist.org/pts/3454338956.html

the day I picked up my MJ, I started by picking up my 89 Winnebago from 191 miles south of home, parked it in front of the house and jumped in the chase vehicle to pick up my 87 MJ from 181 miles north of the house. all together about an 18 hour day and 744 miles.

I went back to talk to the bossman about a price for the bed, cab, front fenders, fuel sending unit and frame if needed. For the cab alone, and I would have to strip it out completely they wanted $161, almost $400 for everything I was asking for. About the only reason I was looking at it was because everything lined up on the doors and fenders and had minimal body damage. I will just plan on cutting off the rocker panels and cab corners which are the main things I want to save off it as they do not show much rust if any. PO put a layer of primer on the entire truck before selling it to the JY but that beats the nothing that is on mine. lol

This is probably a stupid question but would a sawzall be enough to get through the frame to remove the cab as a whole piece? Local you pull it has a Comanche with a good body on it but I am on a time constraint on getting it out of there. They refuse to sell the truck as a whole or i'd just go that route. I'm considering just cutting the frame around in front and behind the cab. Another consideration is where to cut the floor to allow the rest of the cab to be removed.

Have seen about 4 or 5 other Commanches here in Lincoln, NE in addition to the 4wd conversion my buddy is working on and my 4wd 87 Pioneer.

Attempting to remove the left front wheel hub so I can properly seat the new studs that I am trying to put in. Looking for suggestions on how to get the PIMA off since my 300 ft lb air rachet isnt doing much for it. Next step since its been soaking in penetrant oil (not PB Blaster, can't find the can i thought I had) is heating it up with a propane torch but would take any advice since this is my DD. PO was a teenage driver of the car, first time I tried to remove the lug nuts it took a massive amount of effort soooo thinking he went wild with an air rachet and overtorqued anything he worked on.

is there a way to recover the pages I had bookmarked prior to the changes?
-
local parts and pull has an 88 manche with good cab corners and rocker panels. I was wondering if theres a way to remove the entire cab from the frame as they won't sell the entire vehicle?

Stuck Passenger Door 89Mj
snakedoc67 replied to JeepnDale's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had this problem right after buying my Jeep and locking it the first time. Ended up having to replace the latch that refused to release. Not sure how I got the door open, was a lot of prying, cussing and I can't remember if I took the striker pin off as well. I still have it sticking anytime its locked so the panel stays off for now. -

local U pull it has one that sounds similar, if you want it let me know soon. -
what color are you looking for, I have a tan interior in my parts truck and the local U pull it has a MJ with light grey inside
-
local U pull it has an 88 with a light grey interior, if you want any of it let me know.
-
the local JY has an 88 with the 4cyl. if this works for you let me know and i'll try to get it pulled before they crush it
-
Found this Commanche in the local u pull it yard, 4 cyl, Ax-15, 2wd, shortbox. If i had the cash I'd be working on getting the good parts out of there but hoping I have a little time before they crush it. Body was a metallic grey, now covered with primer and grey interior if anyone is interested.

Looking for a tube type rear bumper like the Smittybilts for my Comanche. Have an AW-4, driveshaft and tan interior from an 1989 parts truck (4cyl) WTT.

I definately like this idea since MJ's are rare in the JYs here, but plenty of 4 door ZJ/WJs and a few XJs.
