No Jeeps, just a frontal view of one of the scout helicopters my Dad flew in Vietnam but there is a 1/4 ton trailer in the backgound. Also included one of my favorite pics of his from the war. Had a rotating background of around nine of his pictures but for some reason it stopped working.

91 Eliminator- Lincoln Ne

UPDATE- attempted to get a test drive but the seller was unable to get the truck to start. Possibly out of gas with a non-working fuel gauge. lol. He was asking $1500, I commented that as part of a consensus between the group that the truck was worth $5-800. He said he wouldnt do that. History of the truck- PO was a retired conductor for the railroad that had over 200 vehicles on his property and never did anything with them. This truck had not ran for 5 years, the seller's mechanic had to do some wiring work to get it running. -

yellaheep, It is in Lincoln. I will be going out there later today to see about a test drive and what they are asking for it. I'd consider buying it but really don't have the money for it or space to keep it.

When I was a helicopter mechanic in the Guard we had one helicopter that made 3 flights with bolts rolling around loose by the oil reservoir, which in a Bell Cobra is at the very top of the fuselage above the transmission and rotorshaft. 3 flight crews missed it in pre and post flight inspections as well as the crewchief who looked at the helicopter before it flew each day. They were found on the postflight inspection of the third flight. Also have seen what rags wrapped around a helicopter driveshaft will do as well as numerous other pieces of FOD. On my manche, found a 15mm socket I had left on one of the rear bumper mount to frame bolts. It had sat there for at least 4 months of DD.

I can't get it to work by clicking on the link but it seems to work when I copy and paste it. //s115.photobucket.com/user/snakedoc67/library/for%20sale/91%20Eliminator

i started working on those as time permits. So far have completed refreshing the grounds on the block and about halfway thru cleaning out the C101 when i had to focus on other projects right now.

Not very many grades around here, but for months now its barely been reaching the low range mark.

how much of a possiblity is there that this would be a cause of poor mileage (6-10mpg).

Naturally, I would not promote a direct violation of federal and state laws, the question was more to find out if a failed cat. conv is tied into other systems such as the ecu or other sensor getting a reading from it and if it needed replacement immediately or if a temporary fix would work. My show of happiness at not having emissions testing in this state is more from my tend towards older vehicles, such as my 58 Edsel that probably would never be allowed in California if it ran but I do remember when we did have to take the cars in when I was a kid. lol

Thanks for the test procedure Cruiser. if I do have a plugged cat. conv. can i get away with replacing it with a piece of straight pipe (no emissions testing here, ) or does something like the ECU get a reading from it?

The O2 sensor change did not help as much as i was thinking it did. I am still getting power losses as I am driving, usually when I'm shifting between first and second or second and third, or even as I'm driving down the street. I will press down on the gas and have no power available. A few times it has backfired after I shut the engine off. I can smell fuel inside the cab and I'm wondering if this sounds like a bad injector. The last four or five days the first start in the morning requires me to pump the gas as I'm cranking the starter over and continuing until it catches. While running it idles between 900-1000. I am planning on doing the sensor ground refresh in a few days when I have time available.
-
About the only way I had any idea was from reading thru the forums here and seeing what the advice was given to the other people with the same issues. My gas mileage had dropped to around 6mpg, the truck would backfire occassionally and would bog down when driving. After replacing the O2 and fuel filter today its back up to 10mpg. Still not the 17 it was when I got it, but better. I also put some Seafoam in the fuel to see if that helped with cleaning the injectors any.

thanks, will run out and get the chaser

Trying to install a new O2 sensor but can't get the new one to start into the manifold. Was wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions. The old sensor doesnt show any signs that the threads in the manifold are stripped.

Ground Point For Battery Cable
snakedoc67 replied to snakedoc67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks, expanding on the subject of compatability would the ecu swap over as well from a 2.5 to a 4.0? -
I was refreshing my grounds today and noticed the PO had ran the battery ground to the dipstick stud. I havent had any major issues until recently but was wondering if the battery ground needs to run to it's own grounding point. From reading Cruisers ground tips sounds like it has its own point. Also, I have pulled the engine bay wiring harness out of my parts truck and i'm wondering what sensors (MAP, Temp Sending unit, etc) from a 4cyl can I use on my 4.0.

It comes up as an incomplete recall, so it should still be good. Go get your free O2 sensor! Awesome, mine has been shot for a few months now! Called the Jeep dealership here, they told me since its an old recall that the parts dept does not have the items to complete the recall. SO no free O2 sensor. :(
