i already have a cable ready to be installed per Crusiers Renix tips, just havent gotten around to it due to work and weather.

my manche has been taking more effort to start than normal. When its cold it takes over 30 seconds of cranking with frantic pumping of the gas pedal as i crank the starter before it fires. Its been doing it for awhile, probably 4-5 months now. Refreshed the grounds at the oil dipstick earlier this summer, replaced the battery and positive cable a few days ago. Before replacing the battery it was every time I started it, afterwards it started fine when the engine was warm. Any ideas would be great.

Its just when the clutch is pressed in and is a constant noise (no change in volume as the clutch is pressed in). It happens both in and out of gear. Currently it is just doing it randomly but would like to get a head start on it. lol

Its not slipping any. About the only other signs that it is beginning to get bad is the ability to start out in 2nd gear, something it refused to do when i bought the truck in 2012. lol

in the last few weeks I am hearing a squealing noise when i push in the clutch pedal. It sounds similar to a belt that needs replaced. Just wondering if anyone can tell me what it is and if it is going to mean swapping out a clutch soon?

Actually got this fixed by going thru and replacing fuses that were missing or the wrong amps for the slot.

Thanks for the advice, work is slowing down finally so will be picking up some today.

I'm looking to do a tune up and looking for opinions on the best spark plugs, wires, etc to use with the Manche.

nice pictures of the aircraft, love the vintage stuff. been over 15 years since i've been able to log time other than an occasional helicopter ride at Guards (which doesnt count as anything at all). -

Taking some 2.5L engine parts to a swap meet on sun and looking to see if anyone can tell me what they are exactly. Also am wondering if there is a difference in the power steering pump, MAP sensor and IAC from a 2.5 compared to a 4.0 or are they compatable? The parts i need identified are posted here:

My right axle is bent at the wheel causing alot of other drivers to think its about to come off. LMAO. I have a complete rear end on the parts truck but since I havent checked it to see what condition it is in, seems just as easy to pick up an axle from the jy ($15) and make a trailer out of the rear of the parts truck. Whoever took the JY axle just took the spiders out of the carrier. Both axles are sitting on each side of the truck so fairly confident which is which.

local JY has a D35 that someone disassembled for the gears, good for me because they pulled the axles-the part I need-and left them lying on the ground. I'm guessing they should fit without any issues, its out of an 89 XJ. My questions are 1. does the spline count at the inner edge of the axle matter (27 splines on the JY ones), and is there a way to field test the axles for having been bent?

I was able to get my Huey ride for only $50 from this group: http://www.armyav.org/ :rock on: Watched my Dad fly them in the Guards but by the time I signed up they were already retiring them. I did get the opportunity to work on one for a museum, however in recent years a change in admins meant I wasnt allowed to do the level of restoration I wanted, that combined with the lack of fuel funds means I havent had a chance to drive up and work on it for awhile now. I may not have had a chance to work on the Hueys but I did work on their siblings, the Cobras. Here I am on a maintenance test flight, which was also my first helio flight. :clapping: -
Saw a set of homemade bumpers on a 98 XJ in the JY that I liked, was wondering what work it would take to get both the front and rear to fit on a stock MJ. I don't have a picture of the bumpers but they were a stacked set of 3 2in pipes. I'm guessing it'd be just as easy if not the same investment to have the welding shop copy them.

oops, meant odometer reading.

What is the highest mileage anyone has had on their manche?

Steering Column Disassembly
snakedoc67 replied to Dmac0312's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've done it by pressing down with a screwdriver until i could get the clip out but it is a pain. -
:agree: When I had to adjust my brakes what finally worked was backing up about 10 feet and hitting the brakes. After a couple of times of doing this they worked fine and I havent had to touch them since.

Anyone Else Want In On Our Club 10% Discount At 4 Wheel Drive Hardware?
snakedoc67 replied to Pete M's topic in The Pub
not sure how much i'd be spending there but why not? lol PM on the way -
Was driving home on Sat and all the electrically driven gauges in my cluster froze at odd points. The tach is showing 1800, temp gauge is maxed out, ammeter does not register at all and the fuel gauge is frozen at 1/4 tank even after filling the tank. I checked the fuses and all of them were good. I will be doing Cruiser's dash ground upgrade in a day or two and wonder if there is a relay I should check as well. Other than that the only other thing I can think of trying is to unplug the cluster and plug it back in to see if that fixes it.

This may not fit the defination but i'd take this over any of the others. . Seen in a parking lot of an aviation museum near the house and had to get a pic with the manche. lol

yup, 2/3 of the way there. :laughin:
