Here is a thread with links on how to adjust your 91-96 cluster odometer to what ever you want/need. http://comancheclub.com/topic/41823-change-odometer-reading-on-91/

Small world. I was just on the phone with a fellow VW owner who told me about getting some good stuff on germanautoparts..com

Is the OP asking about a cargo light for the box or a light for the cab interior above the back window? "Cab light" term caused me to think of the interior of the cab. Not the Exterior light for the box. If he is asking about a cargo box light, I noticed a truck at the Pick N Pull with a combined high 3rd brake lite and cargo box light just last week. Foolishly did not look closer at it.

Your truck should have two lights - one on each side just above the upper anchor point of the lap/seat belt. Most of the time, they don't work after 20 years. But that is where they should be. The lights tilt to turn off and on. they also work when the door is open - depending on the tilt position. See this post for a picture: http://comancheclub.com/topic/41811-b-pillar-lights/

Change Odometer Reading On 91+??
johnj92131 replied to johnj92131's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Don, that was the post I was looking for. Went all thru the DIY forum a couple of times. Dainternetguy - Many thanks for posting that great link. Bookmarked both links. -
I am putting a new spedometer in my 91 Comanche and want to match the old Odometer reading to the new odometer reading. This is the electronic spedometer and it is not the same as the 90 and before odometer. Remember seeing a post on here about how to change the later odometer readings. But search is not working for me right now. All I get is a message that there is a problem communicating with the database. Hornbrod, think you also have seen the post.

Someone posted how to turn back the 91+ speedo several years ago in the DIY section. It was not a thread, rather just a post or two in a cluster conversion(?) thread. May take me a some time, but I will see about finding it. Also, I have a couple of extra clusters, I will see what they read.

Save your money for something else. I am sure you could buy one or two more Comanche parts with the $$ :laughin: What did you ever do with the long bed shell you got from me? Did you take it back to Georga?

Wondering if this sounds like your original problem? A few years ago, I had lots of steering wheel slop. With the car parked, I had my hands on he wheel at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions. When I moved my hands/arms back and forth (left forward/right back) the steering wheel rocked about an inch or so. Where ever I put my hands on the wheel I could rock the wheel the same way with no real effort. If this is your problem, it is quite common and the fix is not too hard. There are a number of posts on the web about how to fix this problem with the Cherokee.

Yes, do expect a bit of sticker shock on used ones. The real sticker shock comes when you price N.O.S Comanche taillights. I passed on some decent used one 6 weeks ago at a junk yard. Oh well, I have a N.O.S. pair!

1987 Cherokee/Comanche full guage cluster. The one with the blue numbers on the tach and speedo. I went up to L.A. today because a yard said they had one from an 87 for sure. Well, after driving 159 miles one way, they had a 1990 with white and black tach face. But zero on the tach was at 9 o'clock. Not what I was looking for.

Mj/xj Seat Back Adjustment??
johnj92131 replied to johnj92131's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Anyone know how to remove the seat back adjustment lever? I want to get a look at the tilt mechanism and see if I can figure out what is wrong. Thanks -

Like that central console. Does it open up with enough room for a lap top? Looks similar to mknyboy's 97 Dakota center console. Not sure if his opens up for storage. -

Where in the LA area are you? Planning to have another MJ Meet-and-Greet soon. Johnny, I am in San Diego. Missed the last Meet and Greet. We will see about the next one. -
Does anyone have a copy of the Craigslist post for this truck? Would be nice to read what the seller said about the truck. Picture looks good.

Mj/xj Seat Back Adjustment??
johnj92131 replied to johnj92131's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
OK, that is good to read. Unfortunately for me, I have never been able to get the seat backs to move/adjust. The tilt forward mechanism works just fine. Will have to check out my sister in laws old XJ to see how much effort is required to move the seat back. My seats were put together from the best of about 8 different buckets. Perhaps something was not put together quite as it should have been. Thank You both. -
This thread on MJ seats got me wondering if the seat back angle can be ajusted on XJ/MJ bucket seats: http://comancheclub.com/topic/41652-seats-who-has-what-in-their-mj/ My seats have a black lever on the side bottom side of both buckets that looks to be an adjustment of some sort. Well after some Google searching I discovered the lever is an adjustment for the seats on rocker seat bases on the XJ. Since my seats are mounted on standard MJ brackets, the lever does not do anything at all. On the rocker seat base, the lever allowed the whole seat to "rock" to a different position but not changing the angle of the seat back to the seat cushion. Does anyone here know how to modify the XJ/MJ buckets so the seat back angle can be changed? Lots of imported car have had this feature for years. Thanks for any help or pointers.

Seats! Who Has What In Their Mj
johnj92131 replied to farmerjohnson's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Don, I have exactly the same head rests on my truck. IMHO, they look so much better than the vinyl or non solid headrests. My truck came from the factory with a base interior and full bench seat. So I salvaged all the interior parts from several different XJ's and a Comanche or two. -

I am on my second set of Kumho SR 21 tires (first set was stolen). Relatively inexpensive and long tread life. $68/ea at Discount Tire: http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/filterTireProducts.do?pgTires=0&rcz=92020&rc=CSEINT&fl=&cs=225&ar=75&rd=15&c=2&rf=true&sortBy=prca&fqs=true If the Comanche was my daily driver for 25K miles/year, I would buy Michelin Tires for the long term. But I only use the truck 3 or 4K/year. The Kumho tires work fine for me at a decent price. -

You'd be surprised. It's not uncommon to hit 100ºF in the summer. It's just that last summer was unusually cold and wet where I was (actually in Manitoba, but typically the climate is identical). Well it is in the 80's right now in Southern California.and I have seen it in the mid 90's in January in L.A./Southern California.
