Found a Comanche specific visor .
johnj92131 replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Any idea what he wants for it or if he will ship it. If he won't ship it, it doesn't matter. I have miss two over the last few years at the local pick a part yards, my cost would have been $40, so I could have shipped it to someone who wanted it. Me personally, I would pay $125, including shipping, at this point just to have it for later. -
First, since you are happy with the current height of the truck, I would measure it, so you know how high you are with reference to exactly what. Might also want to put 500 lbs in the bed and measure it again. Second, I would measure the truck height after you change the axle, exactly the same way you did before. Then put that same 500 lbs back in the truck and measure it also. Third, I would buy a set of air shock. I would use the air shock to see how they work to slightly improve the road height with the truck empty and with that 500 pound load. Bet you don't have to do anything else to get the truck back to the same height you want.

No idea how those doors are going to stay in place over timer. Cab/frame is going to spread. -
Very nice job on detailing the truck and on photographing the truck. Excellent presentation. All that work will pay of with a very nice sales price.

Diesel (TDi) conversion discussion & research
johnj92131 replied to A-man930's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Where did you find that $3-4k price? That would be a good price, depending on what else you have to buy. -
How long is the camper unit at the base? Any idea how wide is is? This should be interesting! Lots more power than the 4 cyilinder Toyota and should be a stronger truck.

You really need to get your truck into proper running condition first. What are you trying to do with the truck? Just put 33 inch tires on for looks? You need to know what you are trying to accomplish before you just starting changing things to change things. And you need to know what you are starting with first.

The seller is lying about the MPG. So what else is he lying about? Others have spotted some body work? What does he say about any body work? Bet he says nothing or never happened. Not sold in 3 weeks? Guess others think it is not a good buy at $4200 or what ever he will take. Give him a low ball offer and be prepared to walk away. Look for a Honda or a Toyota for your daughter. Here is another on for you to look at: http://richmond.craigslist.org/cto/4658476587.html Less money, same miles, nicer car.

Find a local shop that rebuilds them for you on site. You get your old starter back with new parts. No C.R.A.P. (Chinese Replacement Auto Parts).

Have a CT90 I got for camping. Even put a front hitch on the truck to carry it in front while I towed the camping trailer. Got rid of the camping trailer after 15 years last May. Suppose it is time to pass the CT90 on also. Fun little bike. Never could get Anita on it, otherwise we would have had two!

Ebay seller with 0 feedback. -
Darn good question. I suppose the lengths are different and the connecters are different between different years (more supposin). Think some of us need to take a few good looks next time we are in the Salvage Yard. Or we could take a look at the factory electrical manuels and see if that tells us much. Around here even the XJ is starting to get scarce. Have seen one MJ this year. Last year it was 3 or 4.

Several good radiator threads here in the last couple of months. http://comancheclub.com/topic/43874-radiator-source/?hl=radiator http://comancheclub.com/topic/43895-another-coolant-thread-boiling/?hl=radiator http://comancheclub.com/topic/44029-radiator-leaking/?hl=radiator http://comancheclub.com/topic/44110-what-radiator/?hl=radiator Even the factory heavy duty radiator is just a slingle row radiator, so save some money and don't buy an expensive one. Unfortunately, they are mostly CRAP (Chinese Auto Replacement Parts). -
$20,000 comanche!!!
johnj92131 replied to TieDyeJK8's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Did Ohio follow Colorado? Is grass legal there too?. If you like that one, buy any junker, spend $18K to fix it and paint it any color you want. -

Located in the desert??? Nice to know. Just where are you located? Death Valley? High Desert in So. Calif? Arizona? Nevada? Did you test the Aux Fan directly to the battery? or just the main fan. The Police package in a Cherokee had a switch to force the aux fan on, so it is not quite the kludge solution you might first think. There is a factory version solution. BUT still best to get the aux fan running properly. Replace what you have to. -

If the engine has sat for 4 years, replace the thermostat right now. The old one is junk, just replace it and be done with it. And no way you can trust any engine temperature gauge on any car to be accurate. Ever. Sounds like you are making progress. -

How do you know the radiator is boiling at 210? Not being a smart @$$. How do you know the fan doesn't come on when the switch reaches 210/215/? i am wondering if your water pump and the thermostat are good. I would check that sensor in boiling water to see if it turns on or not. Then I would see if your fan runs when you bypass the sensor.. Lots of things to check. -
how much longer is a lwb than swb?
johnj92131 replied to Northern rustbucket's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Are you asking how much longer is the wheelbase on the Long Bed than the Short Bed? LWB = 119.9 inches SWB = 113. inches From 1989 Comanche handbook -
That U.S. 550 is tamer than I remember from a couple of years ago. Took the Durango-Silverton narrow Gage RR trip one way and a bus trip back down to Durango. Well worth the trip. Liked the Video.

Why not take it out and see about repairing it? Most senders are just a variable resistor, make sure the contact is good in the tank. Use a Volt Ohmn meter to check the resistance as you move the float thru its range of motion.

Looks exactly like the load mat in my 1991 Comanche and it was purchased with the bedliner from the dealer when the truck was new.
