I know this is a comparing apples to oranges but when I swapped the totally stock 2.8 out for the 3.4 with edelbrock intake I was curious if it was going to sound different and it sounded exactly the same so take it for what it's worth.

I guess having grown up around pot and living here in Cali makes me cringe at some of the comments I see on here I don't think it's a bad drug at all . Just like alcohol some abuse it , some can't function wile on it , some can't function without it and some can do it with virtually no ill effect or "bill and Ted stare". Probably 90% of my friends and family smoke pot and of that 90% probably 10% smoke all day long and are some of the hardest workers I know , two of them own/operate their own tile/granite business and quite well . As for me I can't smoke because I also have a CDL and get randomly drug tested at work but unlike Automan I've been "randomly" tested more than a dozen times in the 8 years I've been with the school district but that's probably because I can drive a school bus. If I didn't have a CDL I would be smoking in a heart beat but ! Sorry for the little rant , I just can't stand to see IMO close minded comments .

Well now that iv figured out this taptalk stuff I can get some pics up. The wheeling trip went great but was driving the whole time so didn't get many pics but was able to install the curie antirock sway bar when I got back , so...

ITS ALIVE!! nothing like waiting till the last minute to do things , so i got it registered on WED and smoged and stickered THU so i could go wheeling this weekend ! still havent put on the currie swaybar yet so maby when i get back ill play with that .

I don't know much about them neither but if its the full size bronco then the bolt pattern will be the larger 5x5.5 and they will be full width aswell so the WMS to WMS will be to wide.

:hmm: so what suspension are ya running ? I'm up around 8"+ with longarms and I don't have any problems . Your shocks aint mounted upside down are they , as in the shock body end is mounted to the body ? Pics ......

So i bought my wife a prius because she drives up to 70 miles a day and gas was killing us and all that . so when ever we travel somewhere we take the prius and because she is your typical femal driver and part of my job is being a "professional" driver if you will as i have a near perfect driving record along with having my C.D.L. ( I drive school buses sometimes) , I'm always aware of me and my suroundings , I'm good with directions and most of all i pay attention ........ Except when I'm driving the prius !!!! its like it has some vortex around it and when you enter it i turn in to just another boob on the road that dosnt know which way is up or down. I mostly end up missing our exit and the wife has to remind me where we are going , its like i set an auto pilot to nowhere . Well yesterday wasnt much better as we had to stop and get gas and i left the gas cap off and the door open (which iv only done once 15years ago) :doh: and to top it off we got stuck in trafic and people were honking at us to let us know . Does anyone else ever have this problem or am i just loosing my edge?

Check the cotter pin and retaining ring on the axle shaft , mine used to make a clicking / rattle . It never bothered me cause I was used to my trucking making all sorts of noises.

Go to Modifiedpowerwheels.com , there is a ton of info in there. I got my son one of those and the first thing i did was cut the fenders and make a flatie out of it .

I vote for the HO swap simple because of how hard it will most likely be to get replacement parts for the renix system in the future . For instance I couldn't even get a diverter valve for a 1987 chevy 1/2 4x4 with a 350 and that's not an old truck (in Comanche years) especially for how many of those trucks were produced. But that's just my opinion.

Ya know , one of my favorite hats is vietnam POW MIA hat that I got at my legion that I belong to and when I looked at the tag one day I noted that it said it was "made in Vietnam" . Now if that isnt a kick in the sack I don't know what is.

I put a rubber plug over the line with a hose clamp , if your electric pump needs a regulator you could get a bypass regulator and utilize the return line so the engine always has cool fuel going to it . I don't know if you have to get that thing smoged but it won't pass if that line isnt pluged .

You only have to space the back of the hood up maby 3/4 of an inch or so and then use a hammer (i used a air hammer) and "finess" the hood brace that runs at the back of the hood right in the middle behind the air cleaner lid. It dosnt look bad at all and it didnt cost anything . What intake top did you get ? either way you went you should port match the top and bottom by temporarly installing the top piece to the bottom and using a scribe mark around the port holes then remove the top and use a die grinder with the approiate bit and slowly remove the material until you reach the scribed line. You must be carefull as it could be thin in some spots .

I personally love the 2.8 , my 2.8 other than being gutless put up with alot of abuse and neglect from me for the first 4 or 5 years before I decided to try and take care of it . Now with all that said after I swapped in the 3.4 and felt the power increase I was sold . The swap does include its own hurdles and increased cost compared just droping in another 2.8 but they are well worth it . If you do decide to go with another 2.8 why not just rebuild what you have if it is serviceable or atleast rebuild the doner ? Doing that will IMO do more for you in the long run than just replacing it with something else wether it be another 2.8 or a 3.4 as you will learn the basics of rebuilding an engine and it can be on be done on the cheap. Anyhow any RWD pushrod 2.8 3.1 or 3.4 will fit , they were all neutrally balanced from IIRC 1988 on and some will require an electric fuel pump and some other small things .

Edelbrock makes or at least made a awsome set of headers under their TES line (Tubular Exhaust System) you could get plain or ceramic coated but I think they are discontinued as my search doesn't come up with anything. The part number was "Edelbrock 68802" . I was realy wanting to buy a set but they were expensive , I think there was another company making some but can't remember.

:fs1: damn you thats exactly what iv been wanting to do for years now (if I only had an xj) , I love the bench seat and think it would be awsome in an xj and I don't think it would take much to swap it over . My plan was ( if I ever got an xj) was to just find someone with an mj and trade everything straight across which shouldn't be to hard as buckets in an mj are like gold for some reason so finding someone to trade with should be easy.

Was out in the back yard today around 6:30 ish when my bro called from Sacramento which is about 3 hrs north away and asked if I was seeing the eclips and I couldn't see squat ! I still can't see anything that sun is bright :eek: . After putting on 4 pair of sun glasses I could kinda see the sun was covered a little bit but that was it .
