  that's a 6.0l super duty red linning due to oil in the turbo intercooler into the cylinders, so being a diesel it over reved right up to max rpm. 30 seconds later, the entire shop was so filled with smoke i couldn't see 3 feet away. by the way, the oil got there from when the truck rolled. i think the insurance will be totaling this truck...

New truck on the way, not a Jeep. What have I done?
dfreeman616 replied to Joe Jeep's topic in The Pub
what engine does it have? -
first car i regularly drove (hand-me down beater): 90 chevy lumina euro w/3.1L engine. i loved that car, had good power, great fuel economy (i measured ~32mpg once driving from minneapolis to wausau, wi  ). got it up to over 120 once in a moment of 17yo foolishnish induced by cruising with friends on a friday...funny thing was, it drove better at 120 than my friend's 86 monte carlo with a 305 did at 60mph  . had some good times on some two tracks, too :D first car i 'bought': 96 lumina with a 3.1L. good car, was free except it didn't come with wheels or tires. brake fluid got contaminated and i didn't want to put the money into replacing everything, so i scraped it for what i had into the wheels/tires. first car i used money to buy: 87 cherokee 4.0 auto, which i sold a couple months ago.

what speakers will fit 89 mj?
dfreeman616 replied to dragonrider477's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
front door speakers are 5.25", rear are i believe 4"x6" if you have them. not all comanches came with the rear speakers, and the ones that didn't do not have the bracket mounted of them. the wiring is still there, though. -
poking around on NAXJA, i found a thread on the best oil for a 'high mileage' :teehee: cherokee with 120,000 miles, which then had a link to this thread about changes in the past couple years in oil grades. basically, if i read it all correct (and i'm not done quite yet), EPA and API (American Petroleum Institute) standards changed in 2004 to prolong the life of catalytic converters in modern cars, thereby reducing emissions. they did this by reducing or eliminating the amount of ZDDP, an additive with zinc and phosphate which creates a sacrificial layer that reduces wear in engines. this isn't an issue for newer cars with overhead cams and roller tappets, but has been known to cause premature failure in flat-tappet engines (such as our engines). :headpop: so basically, avoid SM and SJ-4 classification in oil.

well, it would seem jessica over at the chryco customer assistance center isn't done with me... i think the follow was intended for Micke? By the way, is that someone on here? email changed in case he doesn't want in published
-
at this point, i'm leaning toward ron paul.
-
oh i know that's what she meant, but i'm just making fun of the fact she's supose to represnt ChryCo and used fill not feel, and has limited grammatical skill. yea yea, look at my post...but i'm not representing a business right now :D
-
so what do they do there? i agree to an extent. i don't trust politicians, reguardless of if they're right wing or left wing or anywhere inbetween. ahh, the lovely lesser of X evils...i supose i could trust a politician if there was significant evidance to point to him/her being trustworthy, but hasn't happened yet. however, there are also those who exagerate the truth to make consipiracies. it works both way, and danger lies more in the subtilties of partial truth than in blatent lies.

yes, the fed can call marital law. that's nothing new. of course, if we're to believe half of what some conspiracy people say, it wouldn't be a good idea to discuse it online or over the phone...
-
yea that's one thing to drop/reuse codes, but the really funny thing is that jessica from chryco couldn't just explain that. not to mention that she apologized that 'your fill that is incorrect information'
-
i have a set of rims of a 2002 ranger fx4 package in 16x7 flavor, had to clearnce out the hub opening a little but otherwise fit great with 245/75r16's on it, which is about 30.5x9.6"
-
so i used the chrysler customer assistance build sheet request, and recieved the following list back for my 1988 Cherokee notice the bold sections  so i replied as follows: and received this unedited response i'm not sure what "your fill that is incorrect information" means, but they apologized for it? also, i guess VIN's cannot be trusted since my VIN starts with 1, indicating it was made in the good ol' US of A, because Jessica says it was made in Canada. [sarcasm]i completely trust what chrysler says now[/sarcasm]

Ran across this list of wheels that swap
dfreeman616 replied to jtdesigns's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Nope. The "baby" Cherokee XJ didn't come out until late 1983, as a 1984 model. Cherokees prior to that were full-size Jeeps with 6-lug rims. and went til 2001, not 1998 -
i may be interested in the overhead console, is it the full length one or just the computer by the visors? also, i'm looking for the weather strip on the bottom outside of the driver's window where it goes into the door. so if you're going to be pulling some things off it...oh yea, i also need a complete lock set for the doors (including hatch release button/lock assembly)

87 had the most dana 44's, but some 88's and 89's suposedly do. however, they have spring over perches while the comanche has spring under, and the spacing is differant. some comanches with the metric ton package came with dana 44's, too. but with you're planned lift, going spring over and putting new perches on wouldn't be bad any ways, that gets around 5-6" lift from what others say. i haven't done it myself.
