  1. yea, i've torn a couple down and rebuilt one of them for a dakota. still working on getting it back in the truck cause a parts monkey gave me one torque converter, invoiced a different one, and was suppose to give me yet a third different part... what do you want to know?
  2. the little white one above the switch? that's just a light bulb for when the dash lights are on, so sounds like a bad connection, possibly a short.
  3. both door/seat belt buzzer and the fuel pump should only be an issue for a few seconds, so if it still makes the noise, say, 20 seconds after being turned to key on engine off (KOEO), then yea, time to start tracking other problems. ECU/TCU, and radio come to mind as creating draw in KOEO.
  4. hey dirty, got any or those diagrams for an xj? you know, for a cheromanche project?
  5. not sure which i like more, this or the xota over on naxja.... both are sweet, and a lot better than i am at fabbing
  6. t-bird springs, i forget the year, give about 3" lift and similar to stock spring rate form v8 model. there's a post about it in the tech section, as i recall.
  7. it never ends, does it?
  8. that's my plane right there  nice work
  9. there you go lazy bums, i asked him about it :D now lets see if he answers
  10. be careful buying from autozone for electronics. the one in my 87 xj went out while 2 states away on the highway a couple hours from my destination at night. after driving no more than 50mph at any point the rest of the way (wouldn't shift into OD), i got one from autozone and replaced it. 2 weeks later, it went bad at home. after getting it exchanged, the second one died within a couple weeks. this was from a differant store and differant distribution center. but then, the third TPS i got from them lasted a couple years until i sold the jeep about a month ago, and still works fine as far as i know :dunno: then there's the defective fuel pump from autozone my friend bought that's still in his jimmy after several weeks because i don't have the time to pull it and replace it again... but then there's my other friend's pcm from his grand cherokee that's fine so far, after a few months and a lot of driving. sorry, that got a little :offtopic:
  11. i like it, especially those rims
  12. yea michigan is about the same for salt  i use to live in NorCal, redding area, but that was back when i was 5-6 years old...although i remember never seeing rust out there.
  13. so my main project right now is taking the 80k drivetrain out of my wrecked nissan altima and dropping it in another one with a blown engine (timing chain failure). the body i'm using is from texas. i.e., NO RUST!!!! even the exhaust bolts came out easily with nothing but a box end wrench. anyone know of a good place to move out of the rust belt?
  14. except the 88...
  15. that's correct for the most part, except don't average anything. just measure the front from center point to center point and the rear from center point to center point. the front should read about 1/8th inch less than the rear.

  17. i just got back from a week in canada, on the way back the us boarder guard didn't even look at our id's? :dunno: but then, we saw two cars out of about 20 sent over for more inspection.
  18. haven't seen a write up on it yet, but you ould have to switch everything inside the doors pretty much. probably just easier to swap the 97+ doors, to be honest.
  19. the bottles you're referring to are r134a refrigerant, but our trucks came with r12. the adapters can be had at most auto parts stores, however you may need to replace some parts due to leaks. you also have to remove all the r12 before converting. while you can vent it to the atmosphere on your own, this is illegal and should be done by a licensed shop. the other possibility is recharging with r12 at a licensed shop, but r12 is considerably more expensive than r134a.
  20. had some good times in scouts, and learned a lot of useful things. just got back from a week of canoe camping in algonquin provincial park up in ontario, canada. made eagle scout class of 2000, too.
  21. how about naming your kid Orangejello (as in orange and jello)? no joke, i know of a kid with that name.

My favorite thing! 11:00 pm - Sleeping on the bed! My favorite thing! Excerpts from a Cat's Daily Diary: Day 683 of my captivity: My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the floor. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. The audacity! There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage. Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs. I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously mentally challenged!

  24. i wasn't talking about xj's, they make them specificially for a short box. but then, they think they're the same length wheelbase...(long and short box)
