  1. WoW mnkyboy you got beat up a bit in this thread... I think you have good points to share on the bolt on SOA.good to see you hold your ground. I used that part and have the mounts on my current AMC 20 axel..modded and welded now. but they are nice parts very thick metal and very long. they work well.
  2. Frankly, when you write "At last, someone else who isn't talking out their a$$ ..." -- that sounds a lot to me like someone who is flaming every member of the forum. Reality check -- there is no single answer to most questions, and just because someone's advice might be different from yours does not automatically mean he's talking out his a$$. X2 My 2cent I bought paint kit here http://www.tcpglobal.com/restorationshop/ and i got the SINGLE STAGE URETHANE kit... local paint was almost 50% more for me so online was much better deal. the base clear kit was to much money for my use as I wheel my Jeep a lot so didn't want to spend that much on paint that will get worn. now if your doing this for show or to restore and keep nice then go for the base clear. I don't paint for a living but have painted a few cars and trucks and the single stage looks good for years if you apply to a well prepared surface. I'm getting my Comanche ready to paint in the next week or two and will post picks when done . here is the tailgate I shot to get a look at the paint
  3. Painted my tailgate. this will be the new color of the Comanche. hope to have it all painted next week
  4. I want a shirt or two how much and who do i send money/paypal to?
  5. They look to be the best in china. as with any product in the modern world. its prolly a good unit and will get you unstuck when you need it. I have the XRC8000 winch its prolly made by this factory? i have used the winch over 20 times and its the real deal. so i say if you find a model in your price range buy it. as with most things these days just because its made in china does not indicate anything about the quality. all countries have become masters of manufacturing hi quality products weather you like that or not its simply a fact. us made most the time is made of many imported parts. http://www.runva-winch.com/
  6. That is FUNNY. the phone was most likely stolen :)
  7. Got with Spencer today and hes got the goods. Thanks for the contact CW
  8. Thanks guys..thought there was a guy on our board that made the decals? I'm emailing mahardesign.com today and will see what he can do . I was thinking of replacing the body stripes after I paint my MJ
  9. Primed the bed and the cab
  10. Replacing my bed.. got so beat up . now is a good time to repaint the whole truck. will be doing that over the next few weeks. I did sand the frame and primed and painted it while the bed was off. Like that totally solid rust free bed..yes
  11. Would that matter? I thought the extra length was after the bend. are the LWB frames longer from the cab to the first bed mount or longer after the first bed mount? educate me Thanks
  12. My current MJ was a 2wd 4cy stick that I converted to 4.0 4x4 auto. you have to use a 4.0 computer and the dash wire harness works just as it is no problem. you do have to replace the harness from the fire wall side from the 4.0 MJ. so when you pull the 4.0 computer also get the engine compartment. now I used the parts from a MJ so I don't know that a XJ would work as far as the wire harness.
  13. Well you have your take? there is a point of diminishing returns . my point if not well typed is that (for me) paying a little extra for the oil I use does yield the benefit of an oil that supplies the specifications of my 89 year engine as far as the ZDDP. that's a benefit and performance for a small increase in price. but if I or anyone spent 3-4 or more times as much money on a boutique oil or oil additive it would not yield enough extra benefit or performance to justify the outrageous price. but I agree that if someone was to use just regular oil in there 100k or more 4.0 jeep engine they would achieve 98% of the performance that the extra 1.50 oil will. that's all. I'm not talking out both sides of my mouth? and premium gas is not 3 times the cost of regular so your analogy does not match what I was saying about paying 3 times as much for overpriced oil. it wasn't to get a person like you in some kind of web argument. you may want to try out the Pirate 4x4 forums you will fit right in.
  14. Well it won't hurt. but will it help? prolly not enough. think about this How many 4.0 engines are there on the road with over 200K miles..a whole bunch right. well you can bet that 99% of them have just have regular engine oil in them all there life and they last all those miles and more. you just need to change the oil and filter as recommended. you don't need any overpriced oil, if you choose to spend 6 bucks a quart or more for a boutique oil like redline or amsoil and others you will just be spending 2 to 3 times what you need to any oil that cost 3 times or more what the regular oils cost are just a rip off, you will never gain that much performance increase over the 2.50 qt oil in the 4.0 engine. I run 10w30 BradPenn Racing oil and it cost me 3.50 per qt. it does hold up better than regular oil and it has a better film and you can tell on start up and hi rpm there is no piston slap. with just plain oil (any brand) there is noticeable piston slap in my engine. so that's why I use the BradPenn oil plus its the same oil I have used when it was the original Kendall gt oil years ago. it carries the correct rating for the 4.0 engine and contains all the ZDDP you may need if you rebuild. Now I also think you are fine using regular run of the mill oil that's just over 2.00 bucks a qt on sale. but for just and extra 1.50 you can have a much better oil. now if you spend 5-6.00 dollars or more per qt your again buying a name not more performance for the 4.0. no oil sold for that kinda jacked up price can prove to make your 4.0 last longer or run better then regular oil . they can't. that goes for any oil additive as well. that's my 2cent
