Bread… grease… soap… all work well for getting pilot bearings and bushings out.

1986 MJ 2.5L 4x4 | "Heavy Four"

Thanks for the update and congratulations with your growing family! Sometimes the hardest thing to do is let something go even when we know that it’s got the best. It’s great to see this old truck still being enjoyed and on the road! -

I’ve always liked the brushed gold Jeep letters on early XJs along with the matching Cherokee badges. Kind of a bummer gold was never available on the Comanche badges.

Agreed. The chrome grill and headlight trim would be an awesome grab!

It’s no secret that this truck is getting a NP 242. I figured it’d be nice for the little bit of winter driving it occasionally sees when I need it for truck stuff. The all wheel drive option definitely adds a cool factor! Kinda neat going to a salvage yard with a view. The rig that gave up the transfer case is an ‘87 XJ Wagoneer. The miles are high, but I think someone has been in the transfer case before. The chain feels tight and it was fairly clean when it came out. I grabbed the shifter bezel also. Too bad it’s not as simple as just swapping a trim piece. -

Yup! I edited my post just as you posted this. Had a good laugh over the entire thread!

How did I miss this post?! I’m somewhat familiar with that truck. The front valance and fancy wheels are tied to the logo on the rear of the bed. Miller Hill is located in Duluth, MN. By ‘92, all that stuff was leftovers from the Archer’s shop. Very rad! … found his post from 2013:

Those are great junkyard parts to watch for!

Also no. The CJ has had fuel injection for years. I’ll start dropping more hints once I start pulling parts from the ZJ. -

Absolutely! We got a bit of snow already but it obviously didn’t stick around. The peak has gotten dusted pretty good and will probably keep most of it through the season. Getting cooler all together though! Been well under freezing most nights lately.

Working on some other stuff right now. You’re absolutely right that I’m probably due for a project though.

I’m happy to help with anything welding or fabrication. Not so much help with gears though. There’s a local shop in Colorado Springs that I’ve used with great results. Not sure who’s up in Littleton.

Looks awesome, Mike!
