My tail gate closed good about 2 out of every 10 times. I have even had it fall of when I opened it a couple times....

Well... Now it is working fine...Must have been a issue with my computer at home....

Now when I hit "my content" link under my user name in the top right it jumps me to the index page instead of the threads that I have been commenting on/following. Why did this change? I was very happy with how it functioned before...

In my build thread I walk through the install of mine. I did Spring over axle and a truss. used a 96 explorer axle with 4.10s open. click on the link below . Starts on bottom of page 5. I netted about 8.5 inches of lift with lift shackles that were on the truck when I bought it and stock leaf springs. I think the shackles might be 2.5 inch lift. I'm not sure. If some one can give me measurement of the stock shackle from center of eye to center of eye I can tell you exact how much lift you will gain if your leaf springs are in good shape. http://comancheclub.com/topic/34531-1988-jeep-comanche-aka-the-penny-sniffer-pic-heavy/page-5

I think thats the part number for at the axle not at the transfercase
-
Does any one have the part numbers to the 4 bolts that attach the front driveshaft to the transfer case. I misplaced mine and am trying to order new ones off rock auto. Also the transfer case is not original to the truck and I'm pretty sure its from a 91 YJ but the PO did the swap so not 100%

Rusty's Tail housings Review
Zebvance replied to ggcnash's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I believe those are muilti function lights. The produce a white reverse light and function as a turn signal along with brake light if I'm not mistaken. -
It really over priced by about 7 grand to begin with. Not to mention who ever buys it is going to have to buy a new hood and put it on along with at least a new intake hose to go back with the oem routing. I'm also guessing they drilled holes straight through the grill to mount those cheap LED lights also. I say its worth 5 k.....

Thats why they don't advertise the bushwacker flat flares for to fit the comanche. they are not the same rear flares. there is a thread on here where some one has put the bushwaker 2 door cherokee flat flares on the mj and it shows where they don't fit the body lines and what modifications they had to do to them. I just can't find it.
-
do they make a 2 door rear fender? that should be 95% perfect for an mj. the xj rear quarter and the mj bed body lines are identical albeit the wheel well being ever so slightly larger and the fuel door they are not. Fitment around where the lower part of the fender jets out near the bottom is different.

Man I have been waiting for someone to do it. I am ready to order as soon as they get released. Is pricing going to be comparable to the XJ ones.

Had a chance to get a little work done on the mj last night that i have been meaning to for a year or two now. Had to get a bigger hi-lift jack cause the other wouldn't get the tires off the ground. I decided to mount it in the bed. -

Thanks, What set up are you running? and front drive shaft? -
Make sure you bring all the tools you can so you are prepared if something does fail. All of the basic checks just mentioned are all very good. I live in College Station, not sure if you will be coming through the area or not but if you are with in 100 miles and are broke down I'm always willing to lend a helping hand if I can. Send me a pm before you go on your trip and we can exchange phone numbers in case you run into trouble. I have always wanted to take a road trip with my manche but It has never been good enough mechanical state to risk a trip more than 2 hours.

IF the brakes did lock up it would have been very apparent in the grass. there would have been ripped up ground and not just depressed like it was drove over.

This was his response to what happened. But yea. Its pretty obvious that really happened..... First like your name, think something happened to front locker, after going around corner, was unable to straighten her out Sent from my LG-D631 using Tapatalk

I would first sue, for the point of the matter and hopefully scare your friend into doing the right thing and getting it back. Unfortunately I also think that it will not hold up in court. For one because you have no written documentation of the agreement. But, it will give some sort of proof to the towing company that you are not at fault and possibly work with you. Also as far as the tow company is concerned, you are wrong about the title. If that truck sits on their property for a allotted amount of time they officially OWN it. Happens all the time. Getting a title is not that hard even across states, its just a matter of paper work and sometimes a lot of time. Something that the tow company owner probably tells his office worker to do once a year for vehicles that have been sitting on his lot for that mount of time for him to legally own it. Most of the time they HAVE to do this other wise their lots get full of vehicles that haven't moved in years and are out of space. Second they can turn around and sell the car and its basically free income. I almost bought my first jeep this way. It was a 1995 YJ with a small lift and 33s in pretty good shape. I knew a diesel mechanic that did extra jobs on the weekends. He got to know one of the owners of a tow company here in town and they had a "business relationship". When the owner wasn't making that much money in a month or needed to come up with some major cash for repairs to his tow trucks he would grab one of the vehicles out of his lot that he now officially owned, have my buddy do what ever he needed to do to get it running down the road and then sell it. The story on the YJ was that it was a college kids and the fuel pump went out on it while it was parked at one of his friends apartments. After a couple of days the apartment towed it because it was not a vehicle registered with one of the tenants in the apartment complex. The kid found out it had been towed and told the tow company to keep it because, "it was broke and a POS old $#!&ty Jeep" (which actually it was still in very good shape with only 90,000 miles.). So then it set up in the tow yard for about 3 years is what I was told and then the owner sent it to my buddy to fix and sell for him with a commission price. He put a new fuel pump in it and replaced a gasket or two and the thing ran like a top! Besides the flat spots in the tires from sitting. My buddy then called me up and told me about it cause he new that I wanted a jeep and was looking for one. He said, "you better make it good offer on it quick before the owner knows I got it running, because once he hears it running the price is going to go way up." He told me that when he picked it up to fix it the tow company owner was wanting to get 3k for it. Well I couldn't make it that evening to look at it that evening that my buddy got it running but I did the next day. Of course by then the guy already new it was running. I offered what I thought was a very fair $4900. The owner of the tow truck company literally laughed at me and said, "No way man. Thats to low. Ill probably throw some chrome on it and sell it on craigslist for $10-12." I just said good luck and have never looked back. Anyway the point of that whole story is don't plan on the mj being there too long.... cause you will not own it anymore in a heart beat. Do what you can to get it back asap.

Thats the kind of Comanche that I am looking for to put at my deer lease and never leave. Buy it for next to nothing to keep it from going to the scrap and let it live the rest of its life on the lease getting me to the deer stand and back until I come out to it one morning and its folded like a taco... -
