Intermittent Idle
88whitemanche replied to 88whitemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well when at start up it idles fine but the first 5 min it idles a little high to get up to temperature... Then after driving a bit getting to a stop it will idle super low (100-300 rpms) then at the next stop it will idle normal... And just to try something I would turn it off and turn it back on it will idle normal till the next stop...this is also giving a rich smell as well -
Man those trails are insane dude...you don't understand how jealous I am of you guys up north...all I can do is look at pics you guys upload

What's up guys I have an 88 2.5 ax5 4x4 I've been having really crazy idle...by what I mean crazy I mean that there's never a set idle this truck has since I've been driving it the past 2 years...one moment it's at normal idle(600-700 rpms) then bogs down to 100-300 rpms...I've already done the ground refreshing for this truck, the refreshing of the c101, and I haven't checked vacuum lines since I last changes them last year...I will do a brake fluid test to check for a vacuum leaks but is there any more other ideas this would lead to this crazy idling?

88whitemanche replied to TheDirtyJeep401's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Nitrosteve... Unfortunately that's not true...when I first got my factory skid plate the xj did have the tow pints but the 2nd one I grabbed didn't have them -
No your not...I've updated the photobucket on my phone and it's always giving me trouble...it'll come out as a link instead of the actual pic...I just keep trying over and over to get it to work

The Start Of My '89Heep Build
88whitemanche replied to 89Heep's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Sweet set up! Love those prerunner fenders -
Whoo hoo!!!! Can't wait for the revealing!!!! Congrats and I bet she looks amazing....

That's me dude!!!! Lol what a small world Check out my build page where the grill guard is installed... http://comancheclub.com/topic/35340-project-4banger/page-6 The reason I grabbed this grill guard because I thought it was from that era of our trucks or I could be wrong. Most pics of the factory grill guards doesn't show the fencing in the headlight area like most new grill guards today

Well just to update this thread I checked the dist. Cap and clean as a whistle and no moisture I happened to change the o2 sensor and a 195degree thermostat compared to the 160 degree I had before and the truck idles flawlessly and no rich mixture smell anymore!!! Will know more about the backfire in the coming days but so far fixed!!!!! Whoo hoo and a pic of the old o2 sensor! Filthy!
-
What's up guys So I finally installed my new o2 sensor and new 195 degree thermostat and the trucks idles sooooo smooth I can barely tell its on....no more running rich smell!!!! Thank god!!!!! Old o2 sensor...

What's going on guys So I haven't been doing anything to the jeep...just ordered some 4.5 inch rubicon coil springs, I already have rustys adjustable upper and lower control arms that I scored for $200, and a rubicon express track bar for $20 off Craigslist...still deciding wether to make it to a double shear one to not have death wobble in the future...still gota get chevy brake lines and a rear Dakota brake lines...still battling a running rich situation in the jeep but I bought the correct thermostat and a new o2 sensor to install. Hopefully it'll help out... Other than those news I haven't seen any Comanches on the road like I used to but it seems my girl has caught the bug...here's 2 she's seen in the last two weeks

Monster truck status!!!!! Whoo!!!!!! Lol

Thanks...I'm actually considering a set of deep back spacing rims and bushwhacker fender flares but that's when funds permit itself.... Those pics still upset me because I couldn't do much because my 4wd wasn't working that day but I'll make it up on sat afternoon and it's been raining all week so I expects a huge amount of mud to have fun in

Got brave the other day....I hated myself after but can't do anything now....cut the bed smh

Project "Honcho" - The '87 MJ
88whitemanche replied to Zenobian_84's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Hey man It'll get better for you...it only makes you stronger. Go and have fun. Put that extra love in to the truck. -
I will check the distributor cap when I get a chance today after work and I've done a little bit of research here in the forum and all signs seem to be pointing at the o2 sensor... So far this backfiring is only happening in the mornings when it's cool and when in gear(ax5) decelerating from 70 down to complete stop...I normally put the truck in neutral rolling to a complete stop but to pin point the backfire I've been leaving it in gear....

Aluminum Valve Cover Pcv
88whitemanche replied to TheDirtyJeep401's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Did yours break off? Or is it that you want to replace everything new? -
The cat is not rattling but it did backfire again today decelerating with the truck in gear. I was with a buddy of mine that we car pooled to work today and he literally jumped out his seat because of it. Then while at the light at idle after the backfire my idle was extremely low right in the 100 area and it did sound like popcorn popping. But after 20seconds the idle went back to normal and the popping stopped. So I arrived at work decelerating again and no back fire. I was sitting at my parking spot at idle and no popping or anything. Even checked the muffler and cat to see if it exploded and no signs if any damaged. Even looked inside my tailpipe and no signs of black smoke or residue
-
Ok cool...did you do for both front and rear with the pinch seam?
-
Well I just fender trimmed but wondered how to do the bump stopping? With the front did you just trimmed off the bump stop? Or just add hockey pucks to the bottom like most people do?

What's up guys I'm helping a friend with a problem with his 88 cherokee he has a sye and the last time we went out mudding he lost the bolts to the sye.... Does anyone know if the stock bolts that go to the transfer case would work on an sye?

Thanks you john My uncle built me this bumper. I've been wanting him to build me a front bumper but I just haven't had the time to visit him.
