Awesome work. Thanks for the link. Can't wait for it to get warmer so I can start working on my 'manche, which is just a frozen mound in the back yard right now.

This, my friends, is SNOW: Upstate village sets snowfall record 2/12/07 A 10-day stretch of intense lake-effect squalls finally ended Monday for communities along eastern Lake Ontario, leaving behind from 7 to 12 feet of snow and the problem of what to do with it all. The National Weather Service said the 11 feet, 9 inches of snow that fell in Redfield was a new state "single event" record. Redfield's 10-day total eclipsed the 10 feet, 7 inches of snow that fell in nearby Montague over seven days ending Jan. 1, 2002. The spell of squalls ended early Monday after pushing through Onondaga, Madison and southern Oneida counties, leaving behind up to three inches of new snow. All schools in the area were in session again Monday after many took all last week off because of the heavy snow. Businesses and government offices also were open. Final snowfall totals included 121 inches in Parish and 106 inches in Mexico, both in Oswego County, and 106 inches in Osceola in neighboring Lewis County. The city of Oswego received 85 inches. Although there were no snow-related deaths, the persistent squalls prompted Gov. Eliot Spitzer last week to declare a state disaster emergency in Oswego County. The state sent in approximately 125 workers to help with snow removal, as well as heavy equipment. A winter storm watch was posted Tuesday night and Wednesday for all of western and central New York as a storm system was approaching from the Midwest. Forecasters said the storm could bring 8 to 20 inches of snow to upstate New York. "Unfortunately, they're not going to get much of a breather," said Tom Niziol, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Buffalo. Residents in Redfield were unfazed by their new record. Redfield, whose economy thrives on snowmobilers and cross-country skiers, receives an annual average of 270 inches - more than 22 feet. "It's not really anything we'll get excited about," said Town Clerk Elaine Verdon. "It's not an unusual amount, it's just unusual that fell it fell in such a short period of time." Initially, it was reported that Redfield had 146 inches of snow. Niziol said the weather service came up with a total of 141 inches by having one of its meteorologists recheck the locations measured by the area's volunteer spotter and taking his own measurements. Although it's a record, it comes with several caveats. For one, it only goes back 12 years to when the weather service created a network of more than 150 volunteer weather spotters to help gather measurements. Prior to that, snowfall information was collected from only three weather service offices. There's also a question of whether to count the spell of squalls as one single-event, or as a series, Niziol said. "They had significant breaks Friday, Saturday and Sunday and we could have said the event was over on any of those days. The timing is always an issue," he said. At least in Redfield, officials don't have to worry about snow removal. "Out here, we'll just leave it in piles and wait for it to melt. It's not like a city where it would be in someone's way," Verdon said. For larger communities like Oswego, Mexico and Parish, that has become the main focus of recovery. The New York state Department of Environmental Conservation has given some highway departments the go-ahead to dump the snow in open water if necessary. Other communities haul it to a centralized location. "There's just too much snow to leave in place. It makes it dangerous to walk and to drive," said Oswego Mayor Randy Bateman. Removal of snow in Oswego began over the weekend as the squalls weakened and provided weary municipal workers several long breaks without falling snow, Bateman said. The city carts its snow to a nearby two-acre reservoir, where it's piled into one big mound. Last year, the pile did not entirely melt until July. "With all the snow we've gotten, that snow mound might be there all summer into next winter," Bateman quipped. (Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) We can do pretty much what we want as long as we don't crinkle them up. Too much paperwork. This week I've got a Hemi Grand Cherokee Overland. Nice ride, tons of power, but a pavement machine for sure. Next up is a loaded Hemi Aspen. Have to go get myself sum Bling. Wonder if I can get spinner hubcaps to fit..........

If it is an auto and an AW4 ( which it SHOULD be) there is a 14mm drain plug near the back of the pan. Just take it out and let it drain for as long as possible to get as much fluid out as you can. Overnight is best. Watch for the copper sealing washer that goes on the plug. Sometimes it sticks to the pan and falls off later. Be sure to use ONLY Dexron in the AW4, NOT the Chrysler 7176 fluid.

The only issue with it is the lack of power. DCX dropped the ball with the 3.8 in it. I've done a small amount of snow wheelin' in it and it could really use the low end grunt of the 4.0. We have 13 vehicles at the training center that I have to cycle through in the next 3 months or so and then I can pick and choose what I want to drive. We also have a Dodge Power Wagon that set up with the axle lockers, sway bar disco and built in winch behind the bumper. I'm hoping that they decide to put the turbo diesel in the Wrangler next year.

Been driving this for the past week. Don't know what I'll pick next.

Well, I went totally the other direction and got a loaded MacBook. I had never even looked at a Mac before today. Now just have to wait until it arrives.

What tranny is in it? Does it sound like it is coming from the bellhousing area?

To me computers are tools, much like a vacuum cleaner. I'm not a gamer etc, so I just want one that will cause me the least amount of grief and do what it is supposed to do. I'm comfortable with XP and hopefully will find one on the cheap.

You sure do have more than your share of electrical issues. Take a peek at your fuse block and see if water might be getting in to it through the firewall.

I did a straight pipe on my 93 ZJ only because the cat con was rattling badly. I also lost power and MPG. I definitly agree with Eagle on this one.

No use of salt in winter? My 87 came from there. Still had rust but not as bad as a NY truck.

I have heard mostly good things about Toshiba as well. I have had very poor experiences with Dell, especialy customer service. I will look at the local Wally world to see what they have. I'm kinda hoping that Vista will be a big seller so places with XP models willl dump them :D . Thanks

I'm in the need to get a laptop. New job has me on the road several days a month, and company supplied laptop has restricted internet (ie. DaimlerChrysler company sites only). All the hotels I'll be at have wireless. I just need something to do the internet thing, e-mail, pay some bills etc. Looking for suggestions (with reasons) pro and con on what to look for. Don't mind sticking with XP for operating system either as both home computers have that. Will also need to go wireless at home I suppose. Thanks

I looked at putting some 6x9's in my 88. There isn't much room back there. You'ld be better off getting the right size or boxing them and putting them behind the seat. I guess it depends on how ambitious you are.

I picked up a pair from e-bay, but won't be installing until spring. They seem to be formed pretty well, but it isn't the thickest of stuff. The price was right.

My 87 has a black interior. Paint is silver w/ maroon stripe

I grew up on a little farm w/ 100 acres and no neighbors. One newbie code enforcement guy stopped by there once to complain to my Dad about my 71 Torino and 65 Mustang sitting outside w/ out plates on them. My Dad laughed at him and told him to get off his property. Never heard from him again. There's a guy down the street w/ a rotted old XJ for sale in his front yard that has been there for 6 months, no plates. I suppose I could have put a FOR SALE sign on my junk, no engine..or front clip...or gear box :D I was just using it for storage (had a cap on it) til spring when I was going to get rid of it anyway. No biggie. Just hate being told I HAVE to do something.

Do you have the stock air cleaner assy on it with the little heat riser tube? IIRC these TB Renix systems used to ice up at really low temps if there was moisture in the air (or fuel). Just a thought. Do you have a volt meter of some sort to check the battery? The alt light issue is odd. Didn't you just change the alt? -
nah, it WAS a 4cyl 2wd 4sp. I stole the engine for my 87 4x4. The worst part about getting rid of it was the new gas tank that was in it.

The way that came out it looked like it was held in with zip ties. Must have been all that horsepower.
