  1. Where is the drip coming from? Can you see it drip off the engine, or are you just seeing it on the ground on the left side? If the CCV hole is plugged, the engine will push oil out the air inlet tube and it will drip out of the bottom of the air filter housing.
  2. Could be that the battery has an internal issue that is taking everything the alt can put out at idle. How are the terminals? You could have high resistance in the connection btwn the terminal and the cable. Do a voltage drop test. But, as others and yourself have said. Probably time for a battery, especially if it says MOPAR on it :).
  3. AMC motors ARE fast. Just expensive to build.

  5. 87 2.5, AW4, 4X4, 4.56 gears, 235/75/15's. 22-24 mpg. I drive it like an old lady.

  7. Hey Brent, hope things work out. As a Chrysler employee, I am waiting for the shoe to drop. It is what it is. People don't understand why I'm not freaking out. Something always seems to come around.

  9. It is probably switching to defrost when you lose vacuum to the control head. Next time you go up a hill see if it is coming out the defrost vents.

  11. I strongly agree with Eagle. I very much dislike digital instruments.
  12. if you value not having to re-run wires on the side of the highway then don't do that. it only lets in corrosive elements. disconnect the connector or go into the back of the connector to check for power. :agree: X 1,000,000,000,000
  13. Nope, the idler gear sits on a shaft that's attached to the midplate. It cannot fall off. From what I could see with the case off, that plug does pretty much nothing. Must be thinking of another trans. Thanks
  14. If I remember, that "plug" is for the reverse idler gear. If you pull it things will drop in to the bottom of the trans
  15. I just had walmart mt and balance four snows for my wife's WJ. $40.
  16. few dents and such, but not alot of rust. BUT, your grill is in upside down. One of my pet peeves :D . Welcome home.
  17. Ya stole it. Remember, MJ is to XJ as J truck is to G Wagoneer. Easy to find front end parts. Love those J trucks.
  18. Being another Chrysler employee I listened in on a teleconference that said very little. There would definitly be some hurdles to overcome. Like anti trust laws etc. And the instant unemployment of 100,000 or so people. I could very well be unemployed because of this. GM doesn't believe in live technical training.
  19. Thanks for sharing the pics. Looks like heaven to me.
  20. Well, at least you found your idle issue. Remember to make sure none of the pieces go in to the manifold.
  21. Love the Thompsons on the left. But wait, you are from the Peoples Republic of Mass. You only get ten round mags firing cotton balls for those! :D
  22. Well you guys are better than I am.  I been into the column a couple of times to replace a new multifunction switch (when installing delay wipers), and then again to repair a loose tilt joint. I simply could NOT align the teeth, lock cylinder, and key rotation when putting it all back together - BOTH times!. Drove me crazy, spend an entire day before I had to call in reinforcements. Maybe just a brain fart / mental block on my part, and I'm not real happy admitting it. But for moi: no more column work EVER again, except to replace the whole beast. It's just a diabolically engineered piece of sheite designed to give me nightmares. Anything else, now even including changing diff gears, I can do, but the GM columns just scare the crap out of me. Would love to switch to a floor shifter, but that involves column work, so I'm living with it. They are definitely easier to do clamped in a bench vise than in the truck. I made some good coin rebuilding the GM columns in Jeeps because XJ's were a "high demand" vehicle for thieves for quite a while. They would just break out the upper bowl around the ign cyl to start them. You could always tell the experienced thieves from the novices. The "good" ones did very little damage to the column, while the hacks would butcher the snot out of it. ( Breaking out the drivers window was always a tell tale of a rookie as well. Who wants to sit in glass for the joy ride?)
  23. I just had the one out of my 87. It is a 7/16. Be sure to use a 6 point socket, not a 12 point.
  24. Ignition cylinder and ignition switch are two different parts. Which one are you going for?
  25. you need to drop the "h" in your link
