just a heads up, a 4bt swap will cost you upwards of $20,000, just to be driveable.

What about a motorcraft 2 barrel?i think it would need an adapter plate, but has anyone tried those? i ask because my dad told me he has one sitting in his garage, and free is always nice when you don't have a budget

Not the most creative way...but i suppose it gets the point across. Seen more than one guy get the ever loving crap beat out of him in the parking lot for messing with someones truck, food, tools, etc.

well if i can end up doing it, it won't be until after a year or so in the navy, so i can actually afford a 4bt, but right now I'm going through alot of crap just trying to go to bootcamp. but worst case scenario is i can't afford it, in which case a 318 is goin in

the 4.0 swap takes more than just the firewall, not alot, but it requires changing the headlight buckets, front core support. If I'm doing everything it takes to put a 4.0 in, i'd rather go further than just a 4.0 is what i meant.

i knew about the weight and cost, usually around 2500. Hadn't heard about the shaking though. wouldnt that be fixed with frame stiffeners though? awesome fuel mileage, i've read about guys in full size pickups getting mid thirties, so in our trucks it should be in the forties, given the weight difference

So, I've been trying to put together a long term plan for my comanche, and being as it is an 86 with the 2.8, my main focus is a bigger engine. i've thought about doing a sbc or something similar, because all the work to make a 4.0 fit is worth more than a 4.0. So I'm trying to find out more info on swapping a cummins 4bt (3.9 liter I4) into a comanche, mated with an nv4500 5spd. i've only seen one case of it being in a comanche, and that was 2 videos on youtube of a yellow mj. anyone know where to find specifics? all i can find is mercedes swaps.

I was considering a sbc for a while, since its a ton of work to make anything bigger than a 3.4 v6 fit. but i like diesels, so I'm gonna wait until i have everything together for a cummins 4bt. its more work to get in there, but ive seen it done. and therefore, i shall do it. who doesnt want 45+mpgs?
