That is the cleanest cheapest buy I have seen to date! Do you remember the Cherokee build on trucks last year? The red 1978 or 9 Cherokee Chief? And they bragged about picking that up for $900!

Brent, I am very sorry to hear this, I come from a car dealership family and I can say with experience that you are an excellent customer service counter man. My family owns two Nissan Dealerships out west here ,and my brother is the parts manager at one. Right now business stinks everywhere, but if there is anyway we can help you believe me just ask and we will try. Joe

Glad to see you rescued that 1992! Like I told you I almost picked it up using my CC, but my wife doesn't dig my jeep strays  . -
If only I had an understanding wife  and aJeep slush fund I would be all over a truck like that. Did you see the FC on ebay? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Tru ... 06.c0.m245

Some people should be shot: (Warning Graphic Images)

:rotfl2: Good one! Yeah, but I can't believe someone would do such a thing where children will be around. I don't know I am getting really old but does anyone remember the old "Coppertone" billboards that had the dog pulling down the swimsuit of a little girl to show the contrast of her tanned legs and white behind? That was in the 60's and I don't recall a lot of folks getting offended, but then again I grew up out here in the Bay Area. -

Holy Crack! Is that Joe the plumber? -
Willy, I am very sorry for your loss, hopefully you and your two surviving friends will find happiness again. My avatar is in honor of one of my jeep dogs that passed about 15 months ago.

I know ECU's "nearly" never go bad, BUT...

Great news! Faulty grounds always are a pain to diagnose. Good work Brent! -
The easy part is going to be to check your ground wire that connects to the firewall and then check the ground wire for the battery for rust or corrosion. Put a tester light to all fuses in the fuse box and PDC just to be sure. It sounds like you may have more than one problem so I would start by disconnecting the rear electrical pigtail harness just to isolate the problem with your quartz clock. With the rear wiring harness out of the picture if you do not have an issue with your quartz clock the problem is in your rear harness. If you still have an issue with your clock when your turn the headlights on you then move to the crappy part is when the ground cables and bolts check out good, I would immediately move to non factory installed accessories (auxiliary lights that connect ot the front harness ETC) and remove the power source to them one at a time testing your quartz clock with the headlights on. I know this process is tenuous, but often times I have found that a multi-meter doesn't tell me a whole bunch when there is more than one problem. Does this make any sense? I had a terrible time when I recently installed factory fogs into the factory pigtails (the PO installed after market foglights and gummed up the factory wiring) Don (hornbrod) was a great help in figuring that one out. I know the PDC is different in the pre HO era MJ's so perhaps someone else will chime in. Good luck and have patience you will figure this out!

Great find! That must be another old Fort Ord surplus? Lot's of M715's have turned up over the years in and around Monterey since the army left. When the Navy left around here most of the old surplus was 70's and 80's Chevy vintage.

Brent, Have you checked out this fellow yet? Besides Pete or Eagle I haven't found a whole lot more information about RENIX electrical issues. http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Eng ... ostics.htm -

2001 WJ Intake Manifold and Unichip On
jeepdoggydogB replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Don, Incredible results! Did you use GoJeeps install instructions when you installed the manifold? I am looking for a reasonable writeup to install mine. I have a 2000 cherokee manifold machined so I can reuse the 91 power steering pump, but I am worried about the placing of hoses and such. I would pay money to see the looks on folks faces when you stomp them down the road. -
I agree I bought a header for them for another application 20 some years ago and it is still in the car, do they make their junk in China now?

Fog light gremlins
jeepdoggydogB replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks Don, test worked great, replaced bigoffroad relay and now my headlights function normally (turnoff when headlight switch is postioned to off), but my theory was incorrect still no foglights. -
Fog light gremlins
jeepdoggydogB replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Why don't you just bench test the suspect relay? Use a 9V battery or a battery charger across the relay coil terminals (usually contacts 85 and 86), and an ohmeter across the NO (Normally Open) load terminals (usually contacts 87 and 30). If the relay is working you will get continuity across the load contacts when you apply power and the relay latches. Unless you just want to buy a new one. :D Thanks! Does that type of test work on these four lead relays? http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPages/N ... +Relay+Kit -
Fog light gremlins
jeepdoggydogB replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
OK I think I figured it out. I am using the Bigoffroad wiring harness, I noticed that a few months after I installed it, I was not able to turn the low beams off until I turned the vehicle off. big offroad wiring harness runs the headlights off of battery, and has two relays, high beam and low beam. I pulled out the relays and they have gotten green corrosion all over them. My theory is that the low beam relay is not working properly hence not sending a signal to the foglight realy telling it the lowbeams are on. I hear they sell these relays at Napa, I will replace and let folks know what I find out. -
Fog light gremlins
jeepdoggydogB replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Haha not silly at all, there isn't any power to the factory connector at the lights when the foglight switch is on and the headlight low beams are on, and the relay has "clicked". -
Fog light gremlins
jeepdoggydogB replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well the realy definitely clicks, we have power to the aux lighting fuse in the PDC, so now the down and dirty part of tracing the problem from the lights to the relay. -
Fog light gremlins
jeepdoggydogB replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I did try that but I must admit I didn't try it with someone putting their hand over hte relay I took the easy way out and picked up a new relay at autozone which yielded the same results (no fogs). I will try the relay test, and if it fails try to trace from the realy to the fogs. Thanks Don! -
Fog light gremlins
jeepdoggydogB replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks! So there is only one relay by the airbox? The funny thing is with the fog switch on and headlights on the fog switch does light up, head lights also are good, but no fog lights. There has to be something wrong with the pigtails maybe?
