  1. I have it printed out. I wasn't sure if there was more I should be looking for.
  2. My issues are related to interior electrical. My pwr windows don't work, but the power locks do. My radio has power (keeps time and stores station presets), but no sound through speakers. Pillar lights haven't worked in years. Fan on heater/AC blower doesn't work. Temp adjuster works. The factory equiped clock flickers off/on, especially when cold. Doesn't loose time. I plan on stripping the interior this weekend and tracing wires. Could this be just a grounding issue or will I open Pandora's box?
  3. +1

    IRS Letter

You need to verify each dependents' SSN and DOB. My experience with the IRS, they will not except "Various." What does IRS stand for? Income Reduction Service. Tim
  5. OK. Where can I purchase the brackets? My doors are rusting at the inside bottom, where the skin folds over. Would old bracket come out and put into a replacement door? Tim
  6. Where can I find a company that sells the door skins with the attached brackets?
  7. Jasper is a rebuilder. They don't sell new. If the mechanic who has this thing is a client and you have a decent relationship, I would ask if you can take the tranny (and transfer case) on speculation, and pay for it if it checks out. Jeep changed from the BA10/5 to the AX-15 in the middle of the 1989 model run, so if this hulk says "Chrysler" on it, it is almost certainly an AX-15. It's easy to tell -- the BA10/5 case is split lengthwise into a left half and a right half. The AX-15 has a front section, a middle spacer, and a rear section. No split lengthwise. Remember the input spline count for the transfer case went from 21 splines to 23 splines wiuth the AX-15, so you will need the transfer case with the tranny. Your '87 transfer case won't work with an AX-15. Thank. I though Jasper just rebuilt. The estimate my client gave had a conditions description of "new", but I figured it was "like new." I can't tell what type it is, because it is sitting on the ground - only one tire on the front and no rear end attached. I had not thought about the transfer case. Since the one I have in not compatable with the AX15, it may be worth pursuing further.
  8. The price quote was $2233 before installation and taxes. The description is "new", not reman.
  9. He didn't say; I didn't ask. He also had laying on the ground another 4 litre with an automatic attached, and a separate auto trans. He said there were some rear axels back there, but he did not show them to me. (Maybe the missing one.) There was a late 60s/early 70s 2 door Cherokee in need of a lot TLC. He's in Washington County MD. I don't know if he would send to AZ.
  10. I was at a clients today - an auto mechanic. Behind his shop is a large field full of car and trucks in various pieces. He was out cleaning up the land figuring out what he had and what he would get rid of. I asked if he had any jeeps. He said yes. He has one with a six cylinder and a 5 spd. My ears really perked up then. He couldn't tell what kind or year it was. I went out to look at it. What was left of it - it had been used for parts - was an early 90's Cherokee. (The last owner/driver must have been a Mary Kaye sales rep. Guess what color it is?) The interior is mostly gone, no seats. The lower half of the rear was cut off. The rear axel is gone. No doors. The right front fender and passenger side were damaged. It is just sitting on the dirt. It does have the front axel, the 4 liter engine and the 5 spd trans. We couldn't see it, but the shifters were attached, both the trans and transfer. The sticker in the engine compartment showed it was a Chrysler, so it is after 89. Here's my issues: I have the BA10 in my '87. I have gotten an estimate for a Jasper reman trans for approx. $2700. If this is an AX15, and it probably is based on the estimated year of the Cherokee, is it worth getting? If it is less then the Jasper, I can save a lot on a restoration. I have been told that the manual trans are low to no maintenance. The odometer on the dash only showed 100008 miles. I know I can't trust it. I would need to have it inspected to make sure it is good. If I buy it, get it inspected and find out it is no good, I am out that $ and still need the Jasper. What do you think?
  11. What beer do I drink? What ever I in kegs. I brew the beer I drink.
  12. Just because....
  13. I married mine. No, really. I got out of college in 86. I own a POS Datsun B210 (Pre-Nissan). It lost a it muffler one day. I pulled into a Ford dealer and bought a 87 Mustang 5.0. Thought I was Hot $#!&. My girl friend/ soon to be fiance/soon to become wife got out of college in 87. She bought the Comanche in July 87. She drove the Comanche until 89 when we get a Cherokee. I sold the 'stang and started driving the Comanche. I LOVE this truck. It was my DD until 97 when I got a Wrangler. The Comanche sat for years. I'd drive it on weekends or to the hardware store. There were a few years it got less then 1000 mile. Literaly, I would fill the the gas twice in a year. After getting rid of the Cherokee, Wrangler, Durango, Chevy Silverodo, we got a Suburban 8 liter (god, I dislike this beast) for towing a travel trailer. I started driving the Comanche again. I fell in love all over again. It is 25 yrs old with 262k mile. I hope it lasts 25 more.
  14. Microwave bowls of Campbells soup and/or Chef-Boy-R-Dee...mm mm good. Don't forget to have a spoon handy.
  15. +1 My feelings, too. I have been looking at CJ on the 'net and just about all of them do not resemble what rolled out of the factory. Call me a purest, but I like stock vehicle.
  16. The ground wire is under the driver's side tail light. Remove the tail light and check that the ground is good and clean.
  17. Yes, it is coming from the dashboard. I should also mention that I am on my third cable- the original and two replacements. My mechanic looked at it and told me the problem was internal.
  18. My '87 has been making noises from the speedometer. The noises vary from squeeking like a bunch of mice to sometimes a grinding noise. The squeeking has become more consistant, while the grinding is on cold days. Additionally, on the cold days the speedometer will register very high speeds. According to it, I've gotten to 75 mph in 3rd gear! I have seen different on-line stores advertise "speedometer gears." There are lots of different gear sizes/teeth. Is servicing/repairing a speedometer something a novice can do? Or do I send it out to a repair shop? For instance, http://www.autoinstruments.com/index.html
  19. Why hadden't I thought of this. I read this topic because I have the same issue with the headliner.
  20. Very interested, but still questions... Is the $300 each? How many would be needed to drop the price by $50? $100? What class rating? How do you/we arrange shipping to diff states? How is payment to be processed? When could they be available?
  21. I just had my brake lights not working; turn signal and flashers worked fine. I traced the wires from the back to the front. Everything pointed to the turn signal switch. I replaced it ($25 at Pep Boys). Everything works fine now. Just a thought.
  22. 263000 - all original.
  23. I don't know if you found the part, but I was looking for the same item. Through other members, i found these: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=21444&hilit=shift+boot viewtopic.php?f=2&t=34064&start=0 http://www.quadratec.com/products/52106_03.htm I hope this helps.
  24. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! :clapping: I found the thread in the Classified: Wanted. viewtopic.php?f=25&t=21444&hilit=shift+boot For the 1% out there, here is the part. It fits 97-02 TJs. (I used to have a 98 TJ. before children. ) Here is the item at Quadratec. http://www.quadratec.com/products/52106_03.htm
  25. Quadratec didn't list a boot for BA 10-5. Could the boot be that specific? The BA 10-5 was discontinued in approx. '89. Is the part still commercially available?
