Rotted away, unfortunately.

After 11 months, I have my MJ back. It got a full restoration. Engine rebuilt. Trans and T-case serviced. Rust repair and a new paint job. Attached are before and after pictures. Pre resto. Looking a little tired. Today. Looking showroom new. The drivers floor. Fred Flintstone would be at home. Today. Por 15 to complete. Drivers side rear wheel well. During repair. Today. From the rear. Is there something missing? I know! A Comanche Club window sticker!

I recall a while back, maybe 2 yrs, a CC member wrote that he wrecked his MJ when he was 4 wheeling. He set his park brake, got out of the truck to move something. His brake gave and the truck roll down hill and struck a tree. I think he said it was totalled. I wonder if his was an '86?

My 87 has just been completed a full resto. I learned how to ID parts and located them this past year

Just get the whole truck, then throw what you don't need or is broken beyond repair.

Tail lights, seat brackets, pickup bed light (if present), rear bumber. (not inteded to be a complete list. Just some parts that come mind.)

My books are glue bound. I don't want to brake then apart. Sorry. I have the FSM for my CJ in a 3 ring. I will scan the complete set one day.

What yr is your MJ? There are factory service manual for the electrics available on CC. I know of the 88 manual on here.

Get a continuity tester for the switch. Test the power in and then test all the plugs out. The switch on my CJ went out. That is how I tested it.

Pull the radio out and make sure you didn't disconnect the wires from the fan controls. Ask me how I know....

Mine has 281k with no problems as a DD. I have an AX15 plus 231 in my garage. Just waiting for an external.

You can purchase the FSM. Look on ebay. I purchase the FSM for my 87 at www.faxonautoliterature.com These are print version, though. Bishko Automobile Literature on ebay has a 90 FSM on CD for $26.

I took the two hoses to Tipco to have them remade. The guy at the shop looked at them and said that only one needed to be remade. He said the other looked ok. This is the one remade Image Not Found The old one was so rusted the compression fitting was frozen stuck and the metal tube was cracked where the rubber tube connected. I asked how much he thought it would cost and he estimated $100 :???: The final total was only $65, but still... I felt like I went to the doctor - Dr. Ben Dover!

I will try calling. Their website does not give hrs, especially on Sat, I may have to wait. I found a local shop that repair a/c and hydraulic hoses. I may need to get the old ones repaired. They are in DelMarVa. www.tipcotech.com

Thx. Mine is the factory a/c. Further snooping has led me to www.allmoparparts.com. This store says they have them. However, it does not give part numbers or a picture of the parts. I will look at Jeepair next.

I am looking for a/c hoses. I have the part numbers from the parts catalog, but I cannot find the exact part on-line. I have an '87, 4.0 w/ factory a/c. The three hoses are 1) evap to compressor #56002724, 2) compress to condenser #56001662 and 3) condenser to receiver #56002189. All these part no. are listed for the 87. The catalog lists different part no for the 88/89 to 90. (The evap to compressor lists the 87 and 88 as the same number.) I have looked online at Rockauto, Morris Jeep and Quadratec. Quad Morris is the only one that list all three hoses, but only for the 88/89 to 90 years. (Even their descriptions list them for later model XJs.) Will the differnt hoses fit the 87 system? Are there other sourses for these parts you may know? These are the last pieces for the restoration.

AFAIK it has had 75/90. I changed it for the first time in Sept '12. I am the original owner and it has 281000. However, the trans had been dropped several times to replace the slave cyl. I don't know it the mechanics drained and filled the trans at that time. It is still not on the road yet. So, I cannot comment on performance.
