  1. And seriously, if you can't make the bead look decent (I don't care for that fancy assed crap like poison spyder), then you can't control the bead well enough to produce a sound weld that is consistant and lacking in inclusions or cold spots... Unifrom, even if not totally correct (I didn't crown the weld on the butt joint, because I didn't want it to stick up, where it was caused it to not matter) Image Not Found Done with a stick welder, hence why it looks like it does...
  2. No, no, no.... It's 'Welding is a lot like sex; it's really all about the penetration, but technique and coordination add a lot to it'
  3. Hmm... According to google it is 4246km or 2638 miles. Providing I take the most direct route and drive through Montana, N Dakota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. Any of which states I could assumably pick up some tires in. Based on avergae fuel consumption on my dodge, and the price per litre I pay in BC, it would cost me about $1700 in fuel. In actuality I'd save a little as fuel is cheaper once I cross the border, which would almost allow me to justify the trip. So, bigd44889, I really appreciate the offer, but the logistics just don't quite work. What would work though is if my company sent me to Utah for work. We have three machines flying down there, 1 left 2 days ago, another will leave tomorrow, and the 3rd maybe by friday (it's lacking an engine right now). I could just throw a set of tires in the back of one of the support trucks and customs would probably not notice them.
  4. I hate it when you guys say that type of stuff. I can't even get off-brand A/Ts in a 215/70R15 for $125 each...
  5. I like the newer clip on a street truck... But I think a wheeler better deserves the old one. Nothing says class like 80's styling.
  6. Comparable to anything else? I'd actually buy a new set of IROKs (rizzies) if they came in a 33" size, and were reasonably priced. Because I know what rizzies can do... They're probably one of the best suited tires for the wheeling that is typical to my style and location.
  7. How about LTBs? They're bias... Any good?
  8. The hoses are for the charcol canister thingo. I don't know how they work, but it should work without them.
  9. A sway-bar debate! I want in! I want in! Nah, I won't. But let's just say that when I really looked into it, I don't think that many of us really understand the science behind them.
  10. Painted flares have a tendency to chip, crack, scratch, etc. At least that's what I hear. So I can understand why he wouldn't want them painted. Personally I'd rock them and see what happens. If they've got the right paint on them they should last a long time.
  11. The flares are normally black, no...? If it's a huge problem, you could probably remove the paint with tail-strip or tal-strip or whatever that crap is. Just ask for 'aircraft stripper' in a parts store. It probably won't destroy the plastic, as usually it doesn't in my experience of applying it to way too many things. Or, a set of front flares off an XJ and rear flares off another MJ would work.
  12. Where did Hornbrod learn to count? Sorry for your loss. It'd take more than my body work skills to fix that.
  13. I have no desire to run BFGs. Really. I hated mine. Maybe the new ones are a little better, with the funky krawler like pattern. But if they're the same rubber, they won't cut it. I did a winter run with 35x12.5 M/Ts, and I was nearly denied on a slight incline that was a little iced up. That was with a front spool and L/S rear. And most of the other guys could walk it...
  14. You mean you won't share? I live in an apartment. My hydroponic operation is currently busy growing something else. So rhubarb is a little scarce.
  15. That whole post cracks me up! Rhubrab grows here too! But I don't have any for you. Sorry.
  16. Reminds me of an episode of 'Top Gear'.
  17. I'd buy a MM 141 (or 140, or whatever number they're at) if I didn't have 220. But, I had 220 so I bought a MM 180. I'd not have an issue using one to do 95% of what I have done. Maybe everything. You can always notch it and make multiple passes. It's just more time consuming.
  18. I turned down 5 claws for $200... For that reason. Some people told me they liked them, but I knew better. How are the TrXus sidewalls? I won't run a BFG M/T or any of the knock-offs just because the sidewalls are too weak. I hate changing tires, and I like how my MT/Rs just shrug off the nasty stuff (Spotter says "You're gonna cut your tire" and I just hammer down...) Tough is god. Especially with me at the wheel. Anybody run radial TSL swampers? The bias ones are cheap, don't last long (tread life doesn't cocern me too much), but are squishy on road from what I know.
  19. I'll have to keep those in mind. I'd not heard much about them. And I don't know anyone who runs them. You see, your $600 set of tires would cost me about $1200. So I have trouble justifying buying anything new.
  20. Boggers suck. I hate them. Bighorns have only been avaliable in Canada for about a month... I'd probably try them if I was to get new tires. Pro-comp X-terrains have been ruled out. It looks like the MT/Rs off a rubi are the best choice... Other than they're for a 16" rim. But at least I should be able to find them. Thing is, they suck in mud. And I'd not mind running something OTHER than a MT/R now since I have them on my dodgy and MJ.
  21. I've heard it's part of a 'tow package'. Not that I even believe such a thing exists. Who cares, it's got the goods. When you meet a girl with nice knockers, do you bother to ponder if they're real or not?
  22. Alright, it's a tire thread. Which I would never read if I hadn't made it myself. Mostly because I find them boring and repetitive. Anyways, I need: -A 33x12.5ishx15 -Does alright in mud -Does well on rocks, stumps, dirt, etc -Is tough enough to not leave me stranded -Can be streeted easily enough and lastly -Is common enough that I can actually find a set of them used, due to the retarded price of tires in this country. And go...
  23. he didnt choose his name! He chose not to change it! :D So, if we had a guy who was named 'Omar Mohammad Kador' or such, and he changed his name to 'Keith Evens' you'd trust him?
  24. I never realized it was the door key. I just assumed it was an extra key (like my fuel cap key) that always got lost somewhere along the list of owners.
