I use stock dash switches. What are you trying to power?

Significant lack of power...
Thunderbear replied to Thunderbear's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for all the tips. Definitely plan on checking the fuel filter, and a compression check. The manifolds are tight for the first time in the life of the truck, I think. It actually has all the bolts, finally. Today it blasted through 18 inches of snow over and over as I barreled down my snowed in driveway. Very impressed, just irritated that I had to jump it when it has a new battery. Thinking about changing the starter, since is such a slow start... -
So thats where all the tailgates have gone. -sigh-

No codes since it's the MJ, cat is new according to the previous owner, whatever thats worth. Not a bad idea, though, since it has the same problem in summer, just not as bad. -
More so than can be accounted for in a tired 2.5. Refuses to go more than 15 mph up any hill. Idles okay, revs itself occasionally at idle. Cold isn't helping I'm sure. -10F.. Ideas?
-
Got it running and put back together. definitely has some issues somewhere, won't go over twenty up hill. Grr.

Are you not wanting an auto start, then? Sounds like that would be easier. -
Pinot grigios are drier whites that would would work with turkey and potato dishes. Not sweet like rieslings and chardonnay, which is why I like pinot grigio. Sangioveses are a light full red that can generally work with anything.. And thats probably what I would pick up, since it's probably something no one has had. Sangiovese is the 'base' for chianti, it is a 90% sangiovese, with a 10% blend of petit verdot or merlot or any other type of grape. As the main ingredient, it has most of the flavor of the chianti, and I think it's better solo, so look for a straight sangiovese, un blended.

You know you're a true Jeeper when you go wheeling to fix problems on the Jeep. Mud is a great noise reducer.
-
Yeah, but with what tape? That's important. :D

Your gauges match my 86, but it looks like mine was optioned out a bit. Don't you love inheriting prev owner problems?

Build date of April 14, 1992 "There was a riot on the streets, tell me where were you..." Seriously nice work. Interested to see the rest of the build. -
Are the t cases in the V8s only full time 4WD? Or is it an option thing?
-
Interesting. Thanks, Guns, I won't be ruling out the V8s any more.

Well, my thinking was the longevity of the the straight six was a known quantity, and having a durable, reliable engine in a capable, quasi luxo-ute would be a pretty nice thing. I'd be interested to hear how it compares maintenance and repair cost wise to the yellow XJ, if you keep us updated on it. Also, mileage-wise, of course. :D
-
With that mileage? I don't disbelieve you, I'm just curious. I'm looking for a WJ with a 4.0 for the next DD.

Details on plow setup, please?

When mine was behaving similarly, it was because it had eaten a head gasket and had air in the system. My working theory was that the temp sensor was reading the air temp, and not the coolant, since I too could hold the hoses and the radiator. This wasn't immediately evident, of course, until I drove it home on a check ride and kept going when it pegged @ 265°F (I'm not normally vindictive to my Jeeps, but when you've replaced the cts, the Rad, the thermostat, added a fan shroud, replaced the water pump, and the wanker is still overheating...) and it spit the head gasket out the back, where it had had a pinhole leak, I believe. I'm fervently hoping that isn't your problem. Definitely burp it, repeatedly.

That's what happens when you were born in a tavern. Tun Tavern, Philadelphia ,PA, 10 November, 1775.

Think you can change the 2wd part in your sign, now. :D Nice work, you make it look easy. -
You're not actually going to leave the winch bumper at the pick and pull are you? That would be a hell of a score.
