I got my hands on a rvmirror from a '93 Sunbird, its got 2 lights in it, I just unplugged it from the harness in the car before I took the mirror. Its got 3 wires, what wires do I splice them into on my domes? Its a pretty neat light, nice and bright, lights the entire cab and gives me lotsa light right where I need it. fits on the stock rear view mirror mount tab, so if you can. I highly suggest it as a replacement for the craptacular french domes. These mirrors only came in converitble Cavalier, Sunfire/Sunbird. all model years from beginning to end.

You have the coolest off-road PU - want the coolest on-road?
Kenosha Warrior replied to Bonkers's topic in The Pub
you should see a rice rocket driver's face when you whip him with a 4cyl MJ :D lastnight turned out to be interesting, topped my MJ at 168km/h and torched a ricerocket in a race. -
You can't tell from the VIN unless it is 1988 or older. I would bet yours had a 4 speed from the factory though. I have seen many 1989s with 4 speeds. My 89 has a 2.5L 4spd. its a 4x2. quick q. only AMC did the black interiors for the XJ/MJ's right? I found a red XJ w/ black interior (nabbed the door winder) and the door tag said 1988 as the make.

I'm really hoping you forgot a decimal point in that b.c 2.9million km would have to be some sort of record deci should go like this 294489.5km. I posted from my lappy in the truck :D
-
My 2.5L has 2944895km's. Once it starts leaking, I'm doing a complete gasket job on the motor. Main, oil pan, valve cover, oil filter o rings. EVERYTHING. Keep my 2.5L running happy and healthy. And if its not leaking by summer, when I pop the pistons out, drop the oilpan, and do the crank bearings, piston rings and rod bearings, Ill do the main seal too. Its a good engine, decent on gas (lately its bein' a pig, time for a O2 sensor change) and keeps me going.

Rear Proportioning Valve Comments
Kenosha Warrior replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I yanked the master yesterday, swapped in a new one, and got decent brakes for once. I have new lines front'ta'back but that prop valve is still there, my rears lock like nothin though. My arm is siezed on nice and tight too. Oh well. love my mj. -
at's what Ive got. In the summer I'm tearing down my entire drivetrain. rebuild my 2.5L, do seals and everything on the AX-4, do axel seals and *maybe* upgrade to a D44. I'm buying a 4.0L auto 4x4 cherokee to drive while the mj is outta commision
-
just so I don't fubar my AX-4, I'll try with my buddy's old Frog F-150 5spd,.
-
how do you shift with the motor without using the clutch? I could never figure this out.
-
'86 will have Metric Ton badging, and it will be the AMC-20 rear end.
-
I say screw plastic, find yourself a nice 383, 426 or 440 and drop it in, marry a nice 4spd and watch your tires flyh

nice email, I work for TimeWarner too. But I'm a roadrunner call centre jockey :P

Argh, fuel gauge not working
Kenosha Warrior replied to Kenosha Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
:rotfl2: sorry Did you run out as in had to walk? I've had that happen, and ever since, I carry a gas can in my bed. My mom lives in a nursing home near picton (she has multiple sclerosis, had a stroke, ect and cannot walk) and the home is at a fairly large intersection, just outside the city, but a good 2km from the nearest gas station, I kept stalling trying to leave the driveway at the home, and when I was in the middle of the intersection, I died. coasted across the lawn of an abandonned (irony alert) Chrysler/Jeep/eagle dealer. walked back to the home ( 2min walk) They gave me some gas, enough to get me to Canadian tire, fill up and drive home. :D -
Argh, fuel gauge not working
Kenosha Warrior replied to Kenosha Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
..it works acctually. I just haven't filled it. I drove 120 km's twice in one day, from a half tank. I stopped it overnight, and it went to empty (this was thursday) I didn;t fill it ';cause I had figured I still had enough gas, well. I was wrong. I ran outta gas in Picton on Sunday. Got some gas and made it to a Canadian Tire gas station, filled it. went up to full. ugh. I'm an idiot sometimes -
Clutch Life?
Kenosha Warrior replied to Kenosha Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
yeah we're talking km's Nick. I can't drive w/ my knee's. Alignments way out and its Armstrong steering. Oh, I found a new way to signal right turns. hit the stalk with your knee. I'm a chunky guy and can hit the turn signal arm with my knee while driving -
Clutch Life?
Kenosha Warrior replied to Kenosha Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I can eat a foot long subway sub, balance the drink, and drive all at the same time. Things can get strange if you actually use your turn signals... I'm NOT about to say it's resposible. But, when I'm hungry people don't like me. So, it's probably for the better. I can eat while driving too, screw turn signals, I'm moving way to fast to be concerned if other people know what way I'm going. I signal in populated areas, and only at school time. Little kids mess up my bumper. -
Clutch Life?
Kenosha Warrior replied to Kenosha Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
when I first started driving the mj, I really was rough on it as I was just learning, now Ive almost mastered the clutch and shifter, I can even do it while holding a drink (stupid lack of cupholders) -
Clutch Life. What is it normally? My mj has 294 thousand and change and I happened to give a call to every owner on the list of po's ( 2 places, Scarsview Jeep-Eagle as a shoptruck and Key-Tag Auto for a shoptruck) Each say that they never replaced the clutch. the PO I bought it off of says he never replaced the clutch either. Scarsview Jeep-Eagle is where it was purchased, the first owner returned it for some reason. I'm thinking my clutch has never been changed.

I took the mj up a hill, doing 30km/h in first gear. Did some mild off-roading, a few old tractor trails, nothing that would be too hard on my MJ. Well, yesterday, the damnable fuel gauge stopped working, it slops between empty and 1/4 tank. Yet Ive put $35 worth of gas into it (all at $.84/litre ) in the past 2 days. Its the 4cyl so it wouldn't suck gas down that badly, Ive driven it maybe 50km in the past day and a bit. How would I go about replacing the sensor or whatnot, if I need to. I can always go without knowing how much gas I have, I normally toss $5 into it every 2 days.,

if its in complete, or near complete, DON"T PART IT :( lift it :P have a slammed MJ and a stocker or few inches of lift :D

Seeing Slayer at Copp's Collesium in Hamilton
Kenosha Warrior replied to Kenosha Warrior's topic in The Pub
I agree with you, man. its all just metal. whats with the 'core'? If anything.. core metal is raw, unadulterated, face-stomping metal. Which is SLAYER, LOG, ect. Really heavy, beat-filled $#!&e -
hotness >:D man, a local group of guys in Belleville has a board that is the same setup as this one, phpBB. its been raped with these spammers
-
took the mj offroad behind one of the local arena's. Up a few nice inclines, down a steepass hill, through a swamp (my mj's a 2wd) and then got gutsy and exited through the highschool's bus lane sidewalk :)

:fool: What's the official term for that new type of heavy metal (lamb of god and mastadon)? :beerhead: Do you listen to ISIS or Maserati? I really like that more mellow "stoner rock". :chillin: I call it metal. -
