Squishy brake pedal
Kenosha Warrior replied to Kenosha Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
its interesting. I can ram it really fast right down to the floor and within like, an inch and a bit of pedal movement. bam, brakes lock. but a gentle slowdown it sinks a good 2-3 inches before I feel any slowdown. -
my brake pedal is funky. if I ram it down fast, I can lock up the wheels, but Ive got a lot of travel before it starts to slow down the MJ. if I pump it once or twice, it stiffens right up. whats going on? this was happening before I re-bled the brakes during my Brake Light on Dash fiasco. my master cyl is always full, it has brand new flex lines front and rear.

hrm. I parked at the store tonite, set the ebrake. truck was out of gear and off. I rolled back..! The pedal was right to the floor, like majorly to the floor. yet, if I jack the truck up, and have someone lightly touch the brakes, the backs lock right away. I accidentally drove about a 1/16 of a mile with the ebrake on the other night, this problem only started happening today? its weird. I'm going to adjust the ebrake tomorrow and see what I get out of it. oh my light finally went off. I poked around under the dash looking for loose wires. but found an even more interesting problem Antifreeze running down the firewall on the passenger side..!! I can't find where the hell it came from, I'm still nice and full of AF. wtf is going on? I didn;t have any in the cab either. -

Brake warning light.

same here. I'm going to try to unplug the sensor on my splitter block. if the light goes off, then I know somethings up re: my brakes (I'm about to go under it and check for line leaks and such) but if it stays on, then its something else. BTW: if I hit a bump, it flickers a bit then goes out, hit anothe bump and back it comes. -

...and it only comes on if there is a problem with the rear brake system. Ill trace the lines when I get a change, probably tomorrow in shop class. -
Mine is constantly on till I hit a rough road, or vice versa. Anyway, Ive checked my lines, tons of pressure, rebled the brakes just for good measure. What is it? its driving me insane. Just to test, I slammed on the brakes at 60 and came to a nice slam-dead stop in about 10 yards and its still on. loose connection maybe?

POR-15 for 1st time
Kenosha Warrior replied to once red's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
where could I find POR-15 in say, Kingston, Ontario? or in Ontario at all? canadian tire? it sounds like beau-ti-ful stuff but I've searched high and low, nothing :( -
theres torque specs for flywheels? :D we did a flywheel swap on a friend's S-10, I only did the bolts medium tight with a rachet, I don't think anyone tightened them right down.

its decent, bumpsteer is slim to nill, I finally figured out how to back into my driveway, without driving in and out 50 million times :)

think YJ/TJ :) -
Ive only had the MJ on the road since 3pm yesterday and already I'm jonesing for a PS pump and gear. its a pain in the arse. couldn't park it at walmart or canadian tire lastnight, had to sit it diagonally across 3 spots. Hopefully next weekend I can make it out to my friends place and get that old XJ he has sitting there. AX-15, 201, I6 w/ 90, 000km and all the goodies.

interestingly enough, the other day when I was biking across town to pay for my comanche's insurance, I spotted a convoy of jeeps, lead by a big green j-2000 with the stock winch bumper, followed by a SJ cherokee, a big GWaggy, 3 comanches (86 2.8L badge, then 2 SWB 87+) a few lifted cherokees and then a little compass. looked pretty sweet and the '86 had to have atleast 5+ inches of lift on it.

tried it with a blowtorch, tried it with oxy-acet. cooked it waaay too fast. this year we deep fried it on the bbq. tasted like orgasm on a fork. (my tksgiving was back in October)
