  1. blowby is just worn piston rings, right? Ive got a bit of a problem where it sucks it right into the air filter, but, I've been letting the mj idle for upwards of 5 hrs in the driveway... not a drop of fresh oil in the air box.
  2. Ill letcha know monday night if I need any. the mj is going up for a safety and sniff monday, if she passes both (which should be no problem) I'm gone for plates and insurance tuesday!
  3. I could implode each cable modem I see. I work for Time-Warner cable, specifically. road runner Internet, as a tech. drives me absolutely looney
  4. Its heading for the safety Monday, along with the 'haust sniff test. Runs like a dream after new plugs, wires and a oil change. Fresh battery helped too. Ive got the original steelies on it, and its not seeing any larger tires, its a 2wd and I'm an Eagle-follower. Mods are for XJ's, not MJ's :D Ill give him a call and see if he'll take $100, I'm not in any acctual rush as he informed me that everybody hates them, being aluminum and all. Oiz, $250 left to pay? What didja pay for it to begin with? In total to get mine roadworthy, etested and safetied, $1050, that includes the truck.
  5. I'm just a lowly student with a job at a call centre. I'm also a jeep owner so you all know how it goes. I found a mint set of 4 turbine Jeep rims at a jy. $125 to take them home. should I get tehm? or can I just look a little better and get them cheaper.
  6. the 2.5L is a Renix engine, no?
  7. which would mean my September '88 made MJ would count as a AMC not a DCX? the owners manuals and such are half and half. the OM is all AMC, yet the sales and warranty package are all DCX
  8. Oizarod has had luck with filing down a 3/8" drive and going from there. talk to him.
  9. I must be one lucky SOB be cause for 300 thousand km's on my 2.5L and she doesn't leak a drop! Probably 'cause the PO had the Jeep dealer in Springbrook, Ont do all the seals and work :)
  10. How? I'm at a loss, any manual I own yeilds no information. Help?
  11. As DirtyComanche says... Decent people don't drive these things. :)
  12. I need to make a new set of bumper bracket mounts, mine are rusted to hell and wouldn't support a trailer.
  13. check the floor, brakes, mileage, let it run. its probably a BA-10 or, 2wd would be AX-5? the floors are notorious for rotting, just, check it over, I got my manche for $500, running con'd. use your mind, if its in really nice con'd. $a grand at most for the price. if its less, take it down a few notches in price.
  14. I tore the entire harness out. Found my problem instantly. a hacked-in trailer light harness that had made 4 shorts. I removed it, rewired all the lights back in and now my park lights, gauge backlights and turn signals work properly now! it was taped up underneath the bumper out of sight.
  15. you need to turn it into the step before the start position for them to come on. The Acc spot (if you can get it, trick. hold down the release tab and twist backwards on the key) won't activate them either. Check the fuse. mine was sitting just slightly out and it was fooling with my rev. lights. and last but not least, wiggle the bulbs, shake the harness below the bed and the tranny sensor.
  16. I need to rewire my taillights, my harness is all fiddlef*ked around with electrical tape and hockey tape connections, lights are intermittent and grounds are bad. Any particular thing I need to watch out for? I'm going to stay within the taillight harness and not get into the area where the fuel pump power is. Anyone?
  17. :needpics: yeah, yeah. its at my school right now for some more work on the engine, ll get pics in a day or so.
  18. its a Grand Cherokee. Walmart sells 97+ XJ models.
  19. I work at a call centre, and have coated my walls in Paul Reed Smith, Dimebag and Pink Floyd articles and posters, Ive been missing my Jeeps, so I spotted a Grand Cherokee model sitting on someone's desk, asked them where they got it and they told me to take it! Now there's a little green 1/25 scale Cherokee on my desk! Not an MJ, but it works.
  20. she stays running now, I went and soaked the TB in cleaner and raped it with a toothbrush. cleaner than new! idles like its fresh off the showroom floor. still a sumbitch to start, but I think the fact I'm running it more often is helping. yeah, fresh gas, I think. Ive been topping it off as it gets low, so it may still be running the old gas, I'm going to load it with a gallon or two of fresh 87octane tomorrow
  21. I grabbed a big, thick, warm, comforter and poked some holes for the seatbelts. Staplegunned it to the back and underside. Works like a dream.
  22. ok, my 89 is starting hard. It will rarely ever start in the first key turn. sometime starting fluid is needed. Its got a medium miss in it, I'm doing plugs and wires and the o2 sensor on monday. Now the thing is, this truck has run very little over the past few months. Would that have anything to do with it? It sat for 6 months before I bought it, someitmes when it idles down, it'll die. What should I check, replace, ect?
  23. Its the backlight for the speedo. All the other dash lights work, and to activate the backlight for the speedo, you rotate the headlight switch?
