Woo!, it needs ball joints.... I found a donor MJ though. A guy my dad works with has one, I6, '88 LWB. I am going to get a good look at it, its been in an accident. I'm going to yank the PS pump, hoses, lines and box from it, if its accutally worth salvaging, I'm going to swap in my old 'Armstrong' steering and get another MJ to myself !

We have brakes! Finally all the fooling around with the rear end is complete. Its down on the ground, no more jackstands. Now to complete the steering and floor :)

My 89'er is a stock 4speed 2.5L 2wd SWB. Love it!

I'm extatic that my reverse lights are working!

Unless, its some sort of goofy Canadian bastard child build. Its not an 86 4.0 AW-4. The 4.0l and AW-4 both debuted in 1987. 86 should be 2.8l V-stink, with the Chrysler 999 Don't forget the mighty 2.5! Jeez! Too many people space these engines. Don't I know it. My little red MJ is a 2.5L, Nobody mentions it :(

$900 total for the truck and parts so far. Sheet metal is ready for the floor. Just need to run the brake lines and throw the floor in. Soon to attack the steering box that is trashed. Maybe some tie-rod ends.

AHha, a friend of mine just unearthed a '86 AW4 4.0 at his neighbor's farm. His dad is a steelfitter by trade and we can get all the tubing we need. Truggy anyone? Its a 4x4 by the way, T-case is stuck in 4lo. We got it Free and it drives too!

This is funny. 2 teenagers. 2 SWB MJ's, both are red, except I'm pimpin' a 2.5L AX-4 :) Mine's still a Work In Progress for the safety, but Ill grab some pics of its otherwise stock-ness tomorrow. No mods, just rust :P
-
Haha, I know. its a part-time lock, electronic. its pretty interesting really, Ill get a pic for y'all. Pete, as soon as the safety comes through, Ill be buying some magnets and stickers.

Looks to be an '86 SWB. Dark blue. Metric Tonne, standard (tranny unknown) The owners moved in over near my grandparents. That makes 4 'manches in Belleville. 3 are blue, 1 is red, mine :) I know the other 2 owners. The LWB MJ is a Pioneer, I6, Automatic 2wd, its an '88. The only 4x4 MJ in belleville is a '90 Exliminator. 5spd AX-15, locked D35 front and D44 rear. 4" lift. Stock tires whenever I see it around town. God I love MJ's

know those push-in lights for your house that you tape to the wall? I glued one of them to the headliner in my MJ.
-
I 'rented' it to a buddy for $200 so he could show off at a show with his band. Spent it on brake parts for my MJ. got it back an hour ago. Still nice and shiny (the guitar) I need my MJ to chauffer my arse and my guitar around to school and work.

I'm doing an entire brake job on my '89 MJ. Rear proportioning valve is going away, I'm going to just plug the hole in the splitter block beside the master cylinder. So far for brakes and tailpipe ive sunk $400 + the $500 I paid for the MJ. I'm lovin' it. The spec's are in my sig.

'89 MJ brake question.

Pete, I just yanked the combo valve out, lo and behold the @#$%er had the line welded solid. the rear prop valve isn't even working! guess one of the PO's had a problem with it and removed it from the eqn. so I've got no problems at all now! thanks everyone -
'89 MJ brake question.

Pete, for shame. Even you should know that these things aren't normal vehicles, decent folk don't drive these things! :P Ill track down an XJ prop valve. does it fit in the same spot as the MJ combo valve? If I can't track one down by wednesday, I'm doing a straight line from the front with the MJ combo and a bypass for the rear prop valve. its gotta be done. -
'89 MJ brake question.
Kenosha Warrior replied to Kenosha Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
ok, so can someone toss up a quick instruction on how to eliminate it from my braking system. I need to do the entire set of lines on it, so what all do I need to do? Just block it off at the master cylinder and split the lines on the axle like they are already? Ok, I have a halfgood idea of what I need to do. Take the T split where the main line for the brakes splits off into the proportioning valve and run it from the master. tie it into the main line for the brakes and keep the combination vavle at the back that splits the lines to each wheel. Ok. If there's a problem with that, let me know pls. -
I'm doing lines on my MJ. I have a bugger of a question. I have 2 lines that run back. One goes to a combination valve to split to each wheel, and the other line goes to a bracket with what looks like a combination valve, then its connected to another bracket, with a horizontal rod that connects to the back plate on my differential. What the hell is it, what does it do and do I need it? Ill throw up some pictures as soon as my digital camera is finished recharging. I spotted another MJ at the A&P down the road so I looked under it and lo and behold, it had the same thing. spliced into the brake lines. WTF is it? Ive got the D35 by the way.

took it to a guitar shop today. 1968 Vantage, California made. with Seymour-Duncan dual-tone pickups from the same year. It has been refinished, in the original colour, but in doing so the S/N got removed. He gave me a year based on the stamps on the body under the electronics. worth around 3-4 grand in mint, mines around 2800-3000 $ cdn. Not too bad for a yardsale find.
-
Oh it is. friends+ guitars= old zeppelin and floyd tunes filling the neighborhood. Oizarod, thanks man. he's a pure-bred ragdoll cat. my mom pad $300 for him.

Bought this burnt-orange baby at a yardsale thismorning. mint condition for $60cdn. It says S.D.E Custom on the headstock. It doesn't have a serial # anymore, or maybe it does and I can't find it. It looks like a Gibson, it just screams Gibson Custom, but the SDE throws me for a loop. Its the burnt orange one on the left. Any ideas? http://img160.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... arsqr5.jpg
