the track bar mount on dad's MJ needs to be replaced and he wants a new one. where can i buy a factory like replacement? i tried rockauto.com and the local auto part stores with no luck. i know i can go with an aftermarket part but that would mean we would need buy another track bar, or at least all the ones i found any way. if i must go with an aftermarket that is not the same style as stock, what would be the best alternative for a DD? thanks

changed the transmission oil lastnight and managed to get some black stuff on my arm... Dish detergent, hand soap (x6 washes), gojo (x3), bar soap, and body wash will not remove it...

purple power worked when i cleaned my tranny and the engine on Dad's MJ -
i forgot to pm you back, there should be a small hole in the bottom corner (looking at the front, the driver side spring hole should be on the bottom left and the passenger side should be on the bottom right..) as far as the spring connecting to the front panel of the Jeep i would need to take a look at mine as well...

tranny and tc oil
Blue88Comanche replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So what will ATF do to the tranny? Is it something that can wait till the weekend to change or do I need to hook up a light after work tomorrow night and change it sooner? I bought 75w-90 GL-4/GL-5 (the only thing that said GL4) I just don't have any money for anything at the moment. When I can I will get some synchromesh if its better for the transmission. -

Does this usually happen?
Blue88Comanche replied to Zenobian_84's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
when you reassembled the cluster did you damage the foil board on the back? is the connector plugged in completely? those would cause the tach to potentially stop working.. was it working after you had it calibrated for the 4 cylinder engine? as for the speedometer not working it should be cable driven.. best thing to do is inspect the foil board on the back for any damage -

So it needs to be put in at the proper angle? Trial and error method, what fun. -

i can't figure out whats not working correctly... the cable is fine, i can spin the gear and the speedometer works fine but when i put it into the transfer case it does not work.. i swapped the speed gear and still nothing.. the first gear was from my 88 tc and the second gear was from the case originally.

Put on some cheap fog lamps -
love that front bumper

removed the cad and reinstalled it 3 times using several methods to lock it over, none will get rid of the ratcheting sound, finally locked the cad to the unlocked position and fixed the sound issue... installed some small fog lamps Eva helped change the thermostat and the housing, then taught her how to drive a 5 speed. while we where out on some back road we turned around at the only spot that was available, it was a small patch of grass maybe 20' by 30'.. then this old couple drive up and fuss at us saying we are trespassing on privet property and we need to leave.. well that spot is the only spot on the road to turn around, sora need to trespass to leave... and if you don't want people trespassing put up some signs that state NO TRESPASSING and or put up a fence.. the road we where on was a old county dirt road with maybe 4 houses on it.

As it does on most every pickup manufactured in the last 20 years be it disks or drums. OP, how about you provide a link from where you gleaned this uh "reference" from Wikipedia. You mean a link to the post on Wikipedia? Just click the orignal quote it is a link.

Fuel Guage pegged full
Blue88Comanche replied to CGross's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Might be worth a shot. Is the ground wire for the pump back there, as I figure that might be the issue? Or is it re-located? I know on the YJ it grounds on the parking brake assembly (WTF, right?). not sure where the ground wire would be -

can you remove the speed cable from the transmission or tc? that may give you the slack needed -
My rear Dana 44 has a ratio of 3.54 and my XJ donor has a Dana 30 with a ratio of 3.55, can those gears be used together? the plan is to use a NP242, I like the idea of full time 4wd when it rains. most of the time i will be using 2wd thanks
