  3. can you use a old metal oil drum? that would give you complete coverage then just use a wood frame to hang the part to insulate it
  4. i have sanded the mount it self and cleaned the surfaces but not sand the window yet, i will give that a shot this weekend and if it falls off again out with the quick weld thanks for the help
  5. last month my rear view mirror fell off and a week later i put it back on only for it to fall off again... over the past year or so it has fallen off 6 or 7 times, and now it is becoming tiresome. I have used several kits and sticky strips for the mirror mount and have tried super glue as well.. this weekend i might use J B quick weld and see how long that lasts... is there some trick to mounting the mirror mount? thanks
  6. :wrench: cool, can't wait to see the end result! did you have a before picture?
  7. I noticed on rockauto.com that the WJ 4x4 had the option of C/V joints and U-Joints. Dad's liberty with 242 TC has front C/V joints as well. I have read that U-Joints are stronger but as 95% of my use of the MJ will be on road. would C/V joints offer smoother driving during turns in Full time? and are the WJ's axle shafts interchangeable with MJs? my question is more of can it be done, and i almost posted it in the pub because i was just wondering if its been done. thanks
  8. It all started with the Comanche my grandfather gave me, few years later I have 5 Jeeps in my name and Dad has 3 in his. Today was a big day for my roommate as i convinced him to trade his Audi for a Jeep. He now has a 01 WJ limited with 4.7 V8. Just need to convert my sister and my grandparents and I will be happy.
  9. the turbo on our 07 F-250 would only spool up under load, could not get any boot just reving the engine. what was the condition of the oil? maybe the oil lines to the turbo need to be cleaned?
  10. By drive i mean on the road getting some mileage not parking waiting to be restored :wrench: my last time was in 93-95 ish not much has Changed as far as my favorite Brand of vehicle!
  11. Have you ever made this mistake? It doesnt "leak," it gushes! I remember doing this (forgetting to check the oil filter for the gasket) to my shop instructors car in 7th grade. Not a pretty sight. One of those mistake you ONLY DO ONCE! it never happened to me, but when my cousin changed the oil in his 94 explorer it happened over his nice clean drive way! Now i rub some oil on the gasket before i put the new one on and check to make sure the old gasket comes off.

  13. why use a Ford 302 when you can use a chevy 350? Novak has a complete write up and everything needed for the swap is sold on their website. I plan to do this swap in the future when i have money. http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/xj_swap.htm
  14. the oil filters have a rubber gasket, make sure the gasket from the old filter did not stick to the engine... just make sure when you replace the filter that the rubber gasket comes off with it.

  19. last friday I bought a 05 grand cherokee for much less than 10 grand. the only problem with it was the drivers door handle was broke. so the dealer said it would be a $750 dollar part that would need to be ordered. I asked them if they would deduct that from the cost of the Jeep if i could fix it my self, and they did. yesterday i scored both drivers and passenger door panels for $10 each  (new that was like $1500 worth of interior door) the only problem is the door panel was the wrong color. :wrench: so out with the pocket knife to remove the plastic rivets that held the door lever in place and moved that over to my current panels and held in place with J B quick weld, thus saving me $750 and having monthly payments below $200 :clapping: the finished product looks great
