Ordered new 4.10 gears, carriers, and master rebuild kits for both axles from RWK Haus Supply. $621 shipped, should be here tomorrow or Saturday  -
Still haven't answered my question, do I subtract 5.9% from my reported mileage to get the correct mileage? Have a dealership reflash the ECM to correct for the tire size difference. I have been thinking about that, I would just replace the tires but they look almost new, and I just spent my extra cash on new gears for my MJ. Just need to call the dealership to see what it will cost and how long it will take. I may be able to have that done today after work. that's a pretty cool calculator, I went the hard rout to get my numbers... lol

I ordered 4.10 gears and master rebuild kits for both axles, and decided to get new carriers. the p&p closes as I get off work and I won't have time over the next few weekends to search for the proper used carriers. that and I don't want to trust a used carrier and end with this all happening again because the roll pin came out. I forgot the rear axle bearings and seals but I can get those from the auto parts store cheap enough. they should be arriving tomorrow or Saturday. Thanks for telling me about RWKhaus supply, that really helped.

yesterday i discovered my charger has shorter than stock tires and its been bugging me knowing that my mileage is off. using current brand tires as example (General Tire, G-Max AS-03) current tires are 255/35ZR20 with 769 tire rotations per mile Stock sized tires are 245/45ZR20 with 724 tire rotations per mile I am not a math wiz, and have been thinking about this for the past several hours but can't make up my mind on how to solve the problem... again i suck at math lets say i drove indicated 100 miles due to the smaller tires my actual mileage is less than indicated by about 5.9%, putting me at 94.1 actual miles?

i think my control arms are popping as well.. I also plan to use WJ control arms, but mostly for the tire clearance.

I am about to order parts to regear my Dana 44, I have a mechanic who is going to do the install for about $250, i just need the parts the D44 is getting an open carrier because i bought an Aussie locker a several months back.. i want to use it... and i think the hole for the cross shaft roll pin was damaged causing the roll pin to come out and destroy my diff.... before i place an order does everything look correct. do i need to add anything? Dana 44 P/N - from rockauto.com USA20115 - $87.79 - Standard Open Carrier Case spline, 3.73 & down, bare. This case includes carrier Shims, roll pin, ring Gear bolts and a cover gasket. ZGD44354 - $125.79 - Ring & Pinion Gear Set w/ 3.54 ratio from 4wd.com (clickable link or use the spoiler) Dana 44 master rebuild kit - $118.99 Total cost: $332.57 I am keeping the 3.54 ratio because i can't swing the cost to regear the front and rear to 4.10 Thanks

Today I think I may have fixed the coolant tank boiling over issue.. I swapped my extra pressure tank and installed a new thermostat for good measure. So far so good! -
You can also use the 4 tie downs in the bed of the truck to help secure the top of the pole
-
Of you don't have a light / roll bar, now would be a good time to have a good one made with flag mounting in mind
-
Where where you planning to attach it on the truck? If you use the 2 holes there you will need a very reinforced base. maybe weld that L piece to a larger metal square, have another metal square the same size on the underside and bolt it to the bed... More or less: Flag mound base top / truck bed / bottom mount. All connected with heavy duty bolts. Also I fear the poll will still bend at speed. It will need to be reinforced and or braced as well. Maybe weld a length of 90* angled metal down the front of the pole to add ridgedness..

I was thinking about mounting a m1919 or a M134 to a roll / light bar :rock on: ... but i do be leave you have me beat, well played sir lol

Got My Jeep Running Again! Well Some What...
Blue88Comanche replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in The Pub
so i took the jeep up to 55 mph for a short stent, and it was kinda scary... there is a huge difference in the Jeep's 31x10.5R15 tires vs the Charger's 245/45R20... one feels like i am on a boat and the other sticks to the road... I wonder if the FWD may have changed how the Jeeps feels while driving. pulling instead of pushing? the moral of the story, you should not let your jeep sit undriven for 4 months... the car will spoil you to its ride... :thwak: -
1/8 inch might work, just depends on how well the pole is attached to the base and how the base is bolted to the bed.. someone with more fabrication experience will need to answer the strength of the base/pole setup
-
Will the winch bumper have enough room for the winch? I am not sure the size difference if any between the 8-12k winches
-
I would not drive 60 mph with the flag, it will cause damage to the flag more so depending on how well the flag is made and how long you are going that speed. It won't take long to put it up and take it down. We had a nice flag on out pole at work and a wind storm came in and ripped it to shreds

I have the same issue, and when I swapped the newer non cad D30 I can hear it rubbing on the exhaust when I make sharp right turns -
Once Again, Another Tranny Issue
Blue88Comanche replied to redwolf624's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
not sure if the level dropped any, i really hope not cause that gl5 stuff smells bad, i'm not sure if the soft line has been replaced, i'd asumme that when the master was replaced that was replaced, but i'll check, what's the easiest way to check it? Redwolf there is not really a way to check the line while it is still hooked up, so its usually best to replace it anyway (its cheap enough), more so if you don't know when it was replaced last -
Once Again, Another Tranny Issue
Blue88Comanche replied to redwolf624's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
is the tranny oil topped off? has the soft line between the master and slave cylinder been replaced? my old BA-10/5 would have shifting issues if the oil was low. later i also had to replace the soft line, it had a crack but was not leaking. -
yesterday i took advantage of my day off and the nice weather magically aligning for once. as it turns out the D-44 cross shaft roll pin some how came out and i think it was the cause of the broken gears. So I put my extra carrier in without the ring gear, and put the TC in part time, now i have a FWD jeep... I am sure this is not too good for the drive chain in the tc long term. this is just my solution to get the truck movable again. hopefully soon i will have the money yo get the new gears installed.
